Jawbreaker and Jets to 'Brazil are my favorite bands and Blake is a genius writer/poet/musician and jack of all trades. I've been following his music since 1995 when I heard a song from KLSX during a surf trip in Baja, Mexico. No other band or set of musicians are as gifted to my knowledge with the exception of Johnny Thunders.

This song is such a masterpiece. The way it makes me feel today is just as powerful as the way it made me feel when I first heard it when I was 19.

A big head with a crooked hook = google image "opium poppy". But even without that cryptic reference, this is such a brilliant song about addiction. You say there's a finish line, you're already beat. I was in college, way too caught up with speed and coke and just starting to flirt with OC and heroin (mostly to deal with the comedown from the speed and coke). This song really helped me straighten out before I went too far in that direction.

Damn, bro, u understand!! At last. Ive been hooked on hydros and oxygen, then kratom, then tianeptine. Tried hwroin a few times. Opiates were my thing. This song screams that message to me. I have just bawled for 5 hrs solid. Ive been sober for 6 months. This song made me cry harder than any song ever!!!

No, holy shit, I cant stop crying. Its how it is when I keep doing opiates. The justifications. Its it to a tee. Im crying so fucking hard right now. Been crying for 3 hrs solid now. Omg, this has hit me so fucking hard I dont know what to do!!

A good lyri-smith will get you singing the wrong words with the wright meaning.
Kind of, it's about his relationship with a girl, and his addiction to alcohol ruining it.
