Even though I will never be required to learn the information that you teach in your videos, I am fascinated with flying and you do a great job of comparing and explaining the different properties of aviation. Thanks for the great videos.

My physics and engineering background was cringing a bit through about the 14:30 time stamp, no big deal breakers but still not quite accurate. Pretty good stuff after that. So, on an older C172(150HP carburated models) best L/D(and thus best best loiter time and glide) is about 70kts, but best range is about 100-105kts IAS, at least at lower altitudes for calm air, this is a substantial percent speed increase. Of course best range is ground speed, not airspeed, over fuel flow; so you would want to increase airspeed a bit in a headwind and decrease a bit in a tail wind for true best range. Just look at the extreme of 100kt headwind and either 100kts airspeed with 4hrs fuel or 110kts airspeed with 3.5hrs of fuel; range is zero at 100kts and 35miles at 110kts. As tailwinds increase you would get closer to, but never go below, best loiter time IAS.

The waiting music at the beginning of your video is driving me crazy. Please tell me it’s the same waiting music from the Truman Show! I’m about to buy it online just to see if I’m right.

At 39:41, isn't the temp at the tropopause usually at -56.5C

Edgar Xavier -56.5 is the standard temperature in ISA at tropopause which occurs at FL360. More reference to ISA on google. The temperature of the atmosphere varies every time so you will not find standard atmosphere every day. You can have -40, -50, -60 etc at tropopause. -56.5 is more like a reference to say so.

@Tom Lilli I agree with you. I was talking about ISA tropopause which occurs at fixed standard altitude of 36,089 ft aprox FL360. Of course tropopause varies daily and also with latitude, being higher at equator and lower at the poles.
