This TV miniseries was an EVENT in my Italian-American household in 1977. I was only 5 , but I remember everyone there, Parents , aunts and uncles … being shocked when they brought Christ out with the crossbeam on his shoulders. The cast , the direction , the score … everything still holds up today.

Hasmukh: We only see Ben Hur's gaze upon the impact that the Christ Jesus' gaze makes upon him. I suppose you are referring to other parts of the movie? Where/ how did you get to watch it? I believe I did many years ago, but don't know how. Sometimes KZread lets one see a movie once, but then not again. or perhaps I only saw these short clips and filled in the rest.I'd cara much to watch the whole film.Ben hUr is such an inspiration is his presence, truthfulness to himself, and command of his lower ego, even in his most weak and desperate moments, beung denied water for no just reason. Can you tell why, please? Does the guard recognize his difference from the many, his integrity, strength and goodness and envying it, wanting to destroy it? Or fearing it?

My Son's grew up with this movie. Along with the Robe, and others . Like there Mom, i read my Bible as well, watching these movies help our understandi and Faith to the Fiat .

Robert Powel's face I think as be used for every Jesus painting, This film is definitely a classic, Robert Powel's voice tone is perfect.

This movie is very special for me. I have watched it since I was a child. I´d rather like the teachings than the nativity or his death and resurrection. Today since it´s free to watch on youtube I watch it more or less ten minutes, different parts, specially chapter II and III, because despite I know it´s a mini-serie made by the ITC and Franco Zefirelli, I feel in my soul that I am in the presence of the Son of God. It is like Robert Powell and all the rest of the cast were born for portraying their respective characters. Greetings from Argentina.

Life - I would agree. Regarding reality of His death of course "Passion of the Christ". So for full depiction It's best to watch Jesus of Nazareth and for Holy Week events switch to "Passion".

Yes, he was. I loved it when Pilate arrived and found the streets of Jerusalem in an uproar. He stalks in and is met by one of his commanders, who says, “Welcome, Procurator.” (This guy looked rather nervous and apprehensive.) And Rod Steiger’s Pilate hit the roof: “Welcome? WELCOME??!!!?? I come here and I find this AND YOU DARE TO SAY WELCOME???!!!??” Loved it!

Good movie but I had trouble seeing the entire thing as I wept for an hour and 8 minutes. Could not stop! Can't wait to see him and worship at his feet

My God how he suffered for all of us ! I cry when I see him hanging on that cross for us and suffering so much for all of us when most on this earth don't even care about him ! It's a nice tale. Beautiful, but misleading. Jesus was not from Nazareth but a Nazirite. Jesus really lived, died and rose again, but in a different way and for a different reason....

Why do you think Jesus gave Pilate an ambiguous answer when asked if he was king of the Jews?

There has been many that has portrayed Jesus. They've all been good actors. My opinion, and I've seen several, I have yet to see any better than Robert Powell .we all have different opinions. And should not condemn other's on their opinions. After all, That is one of the commandments.
