    Christmas 2022. STANDING OVATION! You're damn right! I've been obsessed with JCS since 1969, and have seen every recorded production I could get my hands on, and this one was amongst the best. I refuse to believe that this was anything other than a PROFESSIONAL endeavor. Kudos to everyone involved. The director directed the hell out of this. The timing, a crucial aspect, was right on. And the emotions of the ensemble were genuine, making the entire production MAGICAL. Everyone involved should be very proud. And thank you for presenting this.

    My God, this was fantastic. When Judas grasped Jesus in a hug at the end of The Last Supper I sobbed. So painful. So tormented. So real. I know this comment comes at the end of 2022, but I was incredibly surprised and moved at this performance. Bravo.

    I feel really bad for Simon. I was sick for a performance once, and I couldn't hit anything above an E. It just really stinks to work for months towards such a small performance window to display your talents and hard work... Only to have it all ruined last minute by an untimely sickness. It's one of the most frustrating feelings in the world.

    I watched over 10 amateur performances on KZread over the last week, and dozens in my life for 20 years that I am a devoted fan of JCS. It is very clear that this one is the best sounding amateur production among ALL. I can't believe they gathered so many WORLD tier voices. Even a "soldier" sings better than half of main characters in many other productions, holy molly!

    Wow! I watched because the comments were positive but I was not expecting it to be so good! Judas, Jesus and Mary are fantastic singers who could teach one thing or two to the pros. Thank you so much for uploading! Regards from the BC Sunshine Coast..💙

  • @tuxtommy69

    @tuxtommy69

    9 жыл бұрын

    Sarahi Gomez "Hosanna" as sung here is faithful to the original as performed on Broadway (I saw it in 1970) The longer version came about when the film version was made in 1973 and is what is USUALLY sung in modern productions. This EXCELLENT production probably wanted to remain closer to the original format (a wise decision!)

  • @tromboner98
    @tromboner984 жыл бұрын

    I’m pretty confused as to how they managed to find these absolutely killer vocalists, and then failed to direct a good show around that. If you took away the video from this, and just had the audio I’d say “my gosh, I can’t believe a college production pulled this off” But then I watched the acting, choreography, and blocking. The lighting designer is doing a good job. The set designer did an admirable job as well. But that’s it. The costuming is real bad. You can’t pick your main characters out of a crowd. There are WAY too many people on stage most of the time. I’m trying to wrap my mind around how the immense talent on display here from the actors,(not to mention the budget) went completely squandered by the directors, and faculty. (If people are laughing during this show, you’ve missed the mark) Again props to the students.

    Sorry I'm like 7 years late! You're probably refering to a technique popular in musical theatre and live performances called stolen time. You take some beats from one portion of a rest for vocals but must return it to maintain pace with the song. It just adds a vocalists personal style to a song to better reflect how they feel or to showcase some of their skills.

    kevin chagnot You were there? A lot of theological scholarship has been devoted to Judas' motivations....everything from a money-hungry traitor to the one convinced by Jesus himself to aid in fulfilling the mission. The gnostic gospels speak a different tale of Judas, though there are issues with their authenticity. If you are going to be at odds with anything in this musical, why not be at odds with Jesus' apparent fatigue, irritability and doubts about his own mission (which, I personally, find a fascinating hypothesis)

    Laste kohustustest vanemate vastu 31 Lapsed, kuulge mind, oma isa, ja tehke nõnda, et teie käsi hästi käiks! 2 Sest Issand tahab, et lapsed austaksid isa, ja on kinnitanud ema meelevalla poegade üle. 3 Kes isast lugu peab, lepitab oma patte, 4 ja ema austaja on varanduse talletajaga sarnane. 5 Kes isast lugu peab, tunneb rõõmu oma lastest, ja päeval, mil ta palvetab, võetakse teda kuulda. 6 Kes isa austab, sellel on pikk iga, ja kes Issanda sõna kuuleb, laseb ema puhata, 7 ja ta teenib oma vanemaid otsekui isandaid. 8 Teo ja sõnaga austa oma isa, et sinule tuleks tema õnnistus! 9 Sest isa õnnistus kindlustab laste kodasid, ema needmine aga lammutab nende alusmüürid. 10 Ära otsi enesele au oma isa häbist, sest isa häbi ei ole sulle auks! 11 Sest inimese au tuleb tema isa auväärsusest ja autu ema on lastele teotuseks. 12 Laps, aita oma isa tema vanas eas ja ära kurvasta teda, niikaua kui ta elab! 13 Ja isegi kui ta mõistus kahaneb, siis saa sellest aru, ja ära põlga teda, kui ise oled täies jõus! 14 Sest heategu isa vastu ei unustata ja arvestatakse sinu kasuks, olgugi sul patte. 15 Sinu viletsuspäeval meenutatakse sind: nagu päikesepaistel jää, nõnda sulavad su patud. 16 Isa hülgaja on otsekui jumalateotaja ja Issand neab seda, kes oma ema vihastab. Alandlikkusest 17 Laps, oma tööd tee tasase meelega, siis armastavad sind Jumalale armsad inimesed! 18 Mida suurem sa oled, seda rohkem alanda ennast, siis leiad armu Issanda ees! 20 Sest Issanda võim on suur ja alandlikud austavad teda. 21 Ära otsi, mis sulle on liiga raske, ja ära uuri, mis sulle ei ole jõukohane! 22 Mõtle sellele, mida sul on kästud teha, sest mis on salajas, see ei ole sinu jaoks! 23 Mis ei ole sinu töö, sellega ära ennast asjata vaeva, sest sinule on ju näidatud rohkem, kui inimesed suudavad mõista! 24 Sest paljusid on eksitanud nende enda arvamus ja vale kujutlus on rikkunud nende mõtlemise. Kõrkusest 26 Kõval südamel läheb lõpuks halvasti ja kes armastab hädaohtu, see hukkub selles. 27 Kõva süda koormatakse valudega ja patune lisab patule patu. 28 Katsumus ei ole kõrgile raviks, sest temas on juurdunud kurjuse taim. 29 Mõistliku süda mõtiskleb tähendamissõnade üle ja targa igatsuseks on kuulev kõrv. Armastus vaeste vastu 30 Vesi kustutab leegitseva tule ja heategevus lepitab patte. 31 Kes heategusid tasub, mõtleb tulevikule ja leiab enesele tuge languse ajal.
