Jessners and TCA Advanced peeling | Application | FAQ | Prep and Post

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

We get a lot of people inquiring about layering the two acids Jessners and TCA. This is actually something that is commonly done in a professional setting. Today, I am going to talk about and demonstrate how to properly apply the two acids together.
I will go into detail about what each acid is good for, proper application procedure, how many layers to apply and what to expect immediately afterward.
Find TCA here: www.platinumskincare.com/tca-...
Find Jessners here: www.platinumskincare.com/jess...
Luminosity can be purchased separately here: www.platinumskincare.com/lumi...
or on either acid's page.
Pretreat products:
Retinol: www.platinumskincare.com/reti...
Fade Bright: www.platinumskincare.com/fade...
High Octane Vitamin C: www.platinumskincare.com/high...
Healing oils:
Emu oil: www.platinumskincare.com/emu-...
Organic Essential Blend: www.platinumskincare.com/esse...
First, what is Jessners? This is a blend of 14% Saliyclic acid, 14% Lactic acid and 14% Resorcinol.
And… FYI… since you probably don’t know this, *Resorcinol is a blend of 50% hydroquinone and Cat-e-Kol.
It is commonly used on oily and blemish-prone skin, but because of the resorcinol - it can also be good for pigmentation as well.
Our second acid in this peel today, is TCA. We have many videos on this acid’s use, prep, post care and application - so check those out after this one.
TCA or trichloroacetic acid, is my favorite acid ever. It is great for just about everything including Acne, hyperpigmentation and melasma, and has the additional uses for wrinkles, and several types of scarring.
Both of these acid peels are applied in coats or layers. This makes them both very customizable peels.
A small quantity of layers will give you a lighter peel and the more layers you apply - the deeper the peel gets.
Since they are both applied in the same manner - it leads many people to want to apply them at the same time - which can have a beneficial effect.
When Jessners is used prior to TCA in a professional setting, it is generally as a pre-treatment since salicylic helps to dissolve the harder skin cells that could potentially block deeper penetration.
It is also especially helpful with oilier skin types - where the excess oil can block acid penetration or lead to an uneven uptake of the acid.
Now, as you can probably imagine after my explanation there, mixing the two acids can lead to a deeper peel. If your skin is on the drier side, or is thinning, then a Jessners prep is probably not the best option for you.
This is something that you will move UP to if you feel that either the TCA or Jessners isn’t working well enough on their own. This is an advanced peeling method.
On that note…. I highly recommend that you use the acids independently for at least a full peel SERIES *(which is 6-8 peels) before you think about mixing them in this manner.
Visit our Certified Peels page here: www.platinumskincare.com/cert... We have so many more than just TCA and Jessners.

The traditional Jessners formulation created by Dr. Jessner is 14/14/14. There can certainly be modifications to percentages and also to the resorcinol* which is sometimes substituted out.

Excellent video! Your informative, step-by-step process is helpful and quite reassuring for someone who wants to give Jessners/TCA a try. And I appreciate that you get into the details of the chemical compounds that are in each peel/treatment and what they do. The only thing I would say is that it would have been perfect if you had added a day-by-day update of how your skin looked, after Day 1, 2, 3... etc. I know it may not look pretty with the peeling but it would give us a good idea of what to expect days after the peel. But great video overall! Thank you!

Hello, I've been wanting to do a body peel for quite sometime now and there is so much information online which makes it only harder to identify the right routine. For me, your channel is the Holy Grail and I'd like your suggestion on a few things. Im a 5 on the Fitzpatrick scale. Firstly, is it safe to mix tca with glycolic? If yes, what is the preferable concentration for both? What is your opinion about thiamidol as a melanin inhibitor? Is kojic acid +/ alpha arbutin a better alternative? Can I use milder peels (1-2 weeks post peel) to maintain my results for a longer period? If yes, could you suggest what would be best in your opinion?

  • @PlatinumSkinCare

    @PlatinumSkinCare

    Жыл бұрын

No, we do not recommend mixing a TCA peel solution with a Glycolic Peel solution. No benefit to that as the peels perform completely differently. We recommend our Fade Bright or a prescription of Hydroquinone from your doctor to properly pretreat for a TCA or Jessner Peel. I do not know if Thiamidol would be sufficient. I don't have any information for you on that one. No, you cannot sneak in milder weekly peels a week or so after a TCA or Jessner. You must wait 4 weeks after a TCA or Jessner to do ANY other peel. After a milder peel....such as Mandelic, Lactic, Glycolic....you will need to wait 1 week to do any other peel.

I was just in Florida for a week and have some tan on my face and chest. I’m confused as to when I can do this. Must I have no tan before doing a peel? I actually still have some tan even from last summer even though I live in Minnesota.

  • @PlatinumSkinCare

    @PlatinumSkinCare

    4 жыл бұрын

With a tan... you run the risk of getting PIH or uneven pigmentation results. We do really want your skin to be pale when you peel. NOW... if you are using a milder acid.. not a problem. With TCA though, you really want to prep. Use either retinol or an acid Serum at night to help exfoliate the color. Fade Bright or hydroquinone will help to lighten that as well.

Hi Jennifer, My question is do these peels expire? I bought 6 series of TCA 13 and I think after my first application , I need to take at least a break of two months. I applied two layers and yes 5 ml is more than enough! This doubt of mine was cleared when I applied my first application. I am on my 5th day after the peel and am already feeling very grateful for choosing the right percentage. I am currently experiencing a very thick layer of peeling. So I am left with this question about whether or not should I store the rest of the peel away until when I am ready again. I also diluted the 13 TCA for my future applications as honestly this was very strong for me . Thank god everything went well , so far so good . My skin is looking great and rejuvenated.

The peels are guaranteed to be at their very best: Unopened: Good for 2 years from your purchase date. Opened: Good up to 1 year. Please do not introduce any contaminants into the bottle and store them with the cap on in a cool, dark area like a closet. They will be safe and ready for your next use this way. Does this mean they are "bad" once that date has come to pass? Think of this as a "best used by" date. They will not magically go "bad" once the date has passed, but we cannot guarantee you will get good results either. One of two things could happen: 1. The product can weaken over time. This is the most viable option. 2. The product can get stronger? If too much water has evaporated, there is a possibility that the acid content is stronger than its original formulation. This can happen if a lid was not on properly or it was in a very warm environment. Please discard immediately if this potential may have occurred.

First thing check your diet and allergies. Mucus is a big reason behind blackheads. Read this page: www.platinumskincare.com/blog/face-mapping-to-solve-skin-issues/ Then consider using retinol in the evenings. Vitamin A will aid in shedding the pore lining. This will give you clean, tight pores that are less likely to fill up. We always recommend 3 products for our oily/acne skin folks. AB Cleanser + B Complex 2x per day. Add 1 pump of retinol .20% molecular serum in the evenings. Here is another video for oily skin: www.platinumskincare.com/oily-skin-care-regimen/

The biggest thing for you is your skin prepping. Ethnic skin tones NEED to prep with a melanin inhibitor such as our Fade Bright for 3-4 weeks or more prior to doing a peel such as that. **ALWAYS, start with a lower percentage and work Up in Layers. Do not jump to a 20% until you are doing 5 layers of the 13% without any issues regularly. See here: www.platinumskincare.com/tca-peels-on-dark-skin/ After your peel do NOT use acids like vitamin C or retinoids. Use only healing oils such as our pure emu oil or the Essential Healing Oil Blend. Aquaphor is another OTC option if applied VERY thin.
