major record companies pay radio stations to play different tracks. they typically don't just play whatever the DJ wants to at the time. this is why you hear the same songs over and over and over every hour, until the contract is fulfilled and the radio has played the song X-amount of times. There's a lot of law surrounding licensing and such too. i know that's pretty technical for what you're saying; i agree that songs like this should on the radio rather than force fed modern pop.

This likely won't make sense, but there's a degree of innocence and vulnerability in the lyrics. A feeling of loss, that we don't really see in the modern day with dating being a revolving door. The 80s musical arrangement adds to this effect. This is 80s Pop both in the sound but also the innocence and vulnerability (feeling communicated in the lyrics) rather than the Ego found in modern music. The innocence of having loved and lost for the first time. This is the best non-80s, 80s song.

I know this is recent but this takes me back to 1986, Chicago I was 15 and reminds me of my first girlfriend. I don't know about anywhere else back in the day. This style of music wasn't mainstream, you didn't find it outside a few major cities. This vibe really captures the mid 80's. Take it from an 80's kid who lived through John Hughes films (yes it was really like that in Chicago's North Shore), House Music, Italo Disco, Wax Trax, New Wave, European dance music of the day....

This song was on a random driving playlist and hit during sunset I put on my sunglasses and just cruised west bound on Hwy 90. Chasing the sunset. That was during the height of the pandemic, so there was almost nobody on the road. Now This song is a must play for every evening cruise I go on.

The whole retro feeling from the 80s and 90s comes from the unawareness of the presence of a camera, the dull looks into the cameras and the natural body expressions while being recorded. Much unlike all these new videos when everyone is so aware of themselves and how they need to move or stand to look better, but very unnatural at the same time, because they are constrained by the inevitable try to look good. I can't really explain it, but that's close to what I see nowadays.

Great music synthesis by Timecop1983 - as usual - and Jessie's performance levels it up even more. As an 80s teenager I was staying awake all night listening such music as cassettes in my walkman. This music drives your fantasy to the furthest places. That's the reason it's so great when you actually drive at night.

I discovered Jessie in 2021, and two years later I still listen to this song and album obsessively. This song lives rent free in my head lol. Gotta be my fav synthwave song of all time! Cant wait for that new album!

2010s will one day be old school music and atleast that decade had its own era and charms unlike the 20s being just call backs. But I actually don't mind that music I'm just pointing out atleast the 10s was its own which will be retro itself one day.
