Gaio jumping on Jesse's ankle must have been very painful. Matt is a very competent trainer and gives great pointers, but Jesse has a natural instinct about how to handle any horse.

My horse stepped back going through a gate and somehow came scrapped down on the outside of my right ankle.. riding bareback and barefoot of course =)) it took years for the feeling to come back right.

Jesse never wanting to use spurs is everything 😂😂😂

If I had such kind hearted and well trained riders in my barn, I'd have no trouble telling Jesse or Matt they could ride my horse's any time

I know they're pooping a lot, the swallows, but they will keep the stabels fly-free! They're the BEST at that!

And they are beautiful. The wee ones peeping at you over the edge before they fledge squeezes my heart. I always welcome them in my barns for 70 years. Glorious to watch in the twilight swooping after insects risng from the pond.

I would hang some inexpensive plastic sheeting right under the wire's to catch the droppings. Narrow strips, but wide enough to do the job. Then they can be thrown away after the babies fledge and leave. They nest there because it is safe and secure. They are magnificent bug catchers and need all the help they can get to keep thier populations up like most migrating bird's

Jesse looks good on any horse, really. Some people are just like that.

Awh, don't complain about the birds, they're so nice and come back every year. Plus, they eat the flies!

I haven't seen videos of this horse before but he looks incredibly relaxed and flexible. Even his lower lip is flopping around in trot. Jesse is a really nice, gentle and kind rider. I like seeing how easy and soft it looks! Zero pulling and tugging, just soft still hands. Amazing!

Jesse you are so cute...stand your ground!! Matt can be quite persuasive....lol... I loved this video...

I've always thought that although Emporio is bigger, stunningly beautiful, talented & a magnificent animal, Etro is the working gold mine! Etro has a calm intelligence about him & an "I can do anything" confident, patient expression. He is the one who will surprise everyone as he continues to mature. He's a rare gem & Matt saw this in him from the very beginning! Way to go Matt, with your excellent eye for 'the right one'!!! 👍 (and besides ... Etro is totally in love with Jesse, a true sign of uncommon good sense & excellent good taste!) 💖😃💖!

That was very interesting, I liked listening to Jess talk about how his horses are different then yours.

Jesse, great job riding. You are very patient and tried to feel the horse and tune in. Etro was a gentleman and is very beautiful! It's good for the horse to have a few different riders at times.

Two excellent riders, but with different styles and used to riding different horses. Two friends who love to squabble (nicely). Etro, a magnificent, sensitive and very gentle stallion. The three of them meet up in the arena and each does a great job in a pleasant ambiance. For me, it's a fantastic way to end the week!!! Thanks to the three of you! And congratulations on the first improvements to the stable 🤗😂👏✨✨💙

Jesse is a beautiful natural horseman, it’s just lovely watching him with any horse or pony. 👌 He can ride any horse sympathetically, that can’t be taught, he’s just got it. Matt is a bit on the bossy side though.

NGL, these two look fantastic together. Hopefully, we will see this a bit more frequently. Maybe Etro would even profit a bit from a "touch of Jesse". Do something together...maybe like a Christmas Pas de Deux? That would be lovely.

The birds are Barn Swallows! 😂 They make their nests with mud and bits of hair and string and whatever else they can find. The little fledglings can get caught up in the hair and string and get hurt, so we always get a ladder and cut all the strings & dangling hair.

What's not to love about Etro, gosh he's such a gorgeous horse. Jesse did a good job, I enjoyed watching them together. Matt you are a different kind of perfectionist compared to Jesse due to your goals, but you are both so well taught, It was fun listening and watching the two of you work together. Jesse I hope your ankle is feeling better soon, and Matt thank you for taking us along.

2:08 pro tip from someone with lots of similar birds (we have swallows): add a piece of wooden board right under their nests to catch all the poop, you can even paint it white, so it will be almost unnoticeable looking from below. Here, no stable would feel complete without them, I love their chirping and they hatch eegs twice per season. Here it is forbidden by law to remove any nests, as they are endangered, but if your car or anything is underneath their "home entrance" it is absolutely going to look disastrous after a few weeks. Another strategy is to buy artificial nests (there are specific ones for this species available) and place them strategically somewhere where it doesn't bother you as much and hope they accept your offer (the clay and water they need to build their nests is harder and harder to come by for them as well, so sometimes they are glad if they find an already exisiting place to stay).

Love the plant boxes !!! Another talent you have. Just love watching both of you. So kind to each other and funny…such a gentle positive way with people and your beautiful horses. Everyone is happy. Don’t ever change !!!!

Only another rider knows how much effort it takes to ride. Nice ride Jesse.

The swallows leave South Africa around about April and migrate to Europe because we are going into our winter then and then start returning to South Africa around about October. I love them and every year there is a pair that come back to their nest on our verandah. There is a point near our airport where they all meet up with each other and then they migrate together. It's amazing.

We have Barn Swallows in Canada as well. Not as many as I'd like as they really help keep the mosquito's down.

Yes Matt BUT swallows are very good luck if you have them in your barn.... They also eat a lot of bugs.

A friend of mine has the same problem. She hangs buckets under the nests which really helps with the problem. They can also catch a baby bird that may wander too close to the edge.

I love whenever they start arguing the video cuts to a new part 😭😂

The Stable I volunteer at is a Horse Rescue and apparently we have a rare kind of barn swallow that the local university studies. It is not unusual to have students quietly sitting in corners observing or even in small tents in the barn! They have done it for at least the two years I’ve been there so apparently it is valuable data😊

I feel Matt always forgets they both ride so different. Ofc Jesse doesnt ride in the sport dressage style, he wont instinctively cue the horse as Matt would. I do love Jesses patience and respect he has it for all horses despite Matts criticisms

I love how much Jesse loves the horses and shows them so much physical attention. I know nothing about horse but can only assume they understand the affection they receive???

Etro's trot and top line have improved sooo much. Jesse was able to connect very well with him. Good job!

Jesse naturally gets everything he rides forward in the beginning, and the horses enjoy that . He appears to have great feel and knows when to gently start framing up and moving forward. As you know it’s a gift with the breed . if they get stuck going up and down and not softly forward opening the shoulder it looks a mess . Good job Jesse

Etro is a pure delight. Jesse is just a beautifully sensitive rider. Although Matt is a good trainer, what happened to not saying anything? 😂. Great video. Although I can’t see why Jesse has to use spurs if he doesn’t want to?

We have swallows too at the stables. Very annoying with the mess they make. But they are protected so u can’t remove the nests. But in Belgium u can actually ask for money based on how many nests u have on your property. Maybe that’s something in the Netherlands too?

This video is delightful. The window boxes are lovely, the horse is gorgeous, and the boys are sweet, talented and entertaining. Matt, a vid of you schooling Etro would be great.

I think it's really hard for any rider to get on a horse and be placed under scrutiny right away, without having a chance to test the feel, aids and reactions etc. I thought Jesse did an excellent job. I would have been interested in seeing his comments about himself while he watches the footage. Would be curious to see side by side footage of Matt riding Etro and Jesse riding Etro too.

Really love watching you both and the difference of riding styles and the love and bond you have with your beautiful horses. ❤❤
