I loved this book! Delightful, entertaining, and little Emma reminds me so much of my daughter. Alyssa was very chatty at age 2, and suprisingly insightful. I myself spoke in full sentences at age 2 in two languages. Vera is far from being frail. She is a very strong, intelligent woman. Very interesting characters ❤

I just finished reading this book and was very disappointed. The stereotype of Vera as being an old frail woman at the age of 61! WTF, I am 68 and do not consider myself OLD, my neighbour across the street is OLD, she is 101 ffs! Also, 2 year old children don't talk like the character Emma, I had a very chatty 3 year old but 2 years old, NO. The story was just not very interesting, surface personalities and unbelievably tedious characters. I expect more from someone educated at Oxford!

Oh, and one more thing! Yes, 2 year old children can talk this way. I’m a speech pathologist, and my daughter was speaking in 4- and 5-word sentences the day she turned 2. Have you ever considered that Emma might be almost 3. Good grief! Do you take everything so literally? Did you miss the whole point of this book?!!!
