Jerusalem, Phil Hughes Tribute, England v Australia 2013 Trent Bridge Test Match,

Музыка

This was the final test match played at Trent Bridge by Phil Hughes who can be seen entering the field on 7 not out, he went on to score 81 not out and took part in the record last wicket partnership with Ashton Agar. Philip Hughes died on 27 November 2014 after being hit by a cricket ball whilst playing for South Australia against New South Wales. Sean Ruane sings Jerusalem at the start of play on the second day of the Test Match England v Australia at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on 11 July 2013. The words by William Blake, music written by Hubert Parry, bring a sense of pride to most people as the huge crowd anticipates the cricket to come. The England team enter the field as Sean sings and huge applause signals the end of this patroiotic piece. Sean is from Bacup in Lancashire, his vocal artistry has graced Grand Opera and various sporting venues. Filmed and loaded to KZread by Michael Parkinson. I dedicate this video to the memory of Phillip Hughes, Michael Parkinson

Absolutely should be, god save the Queen is a complete borefest of an anthem. I don't care what anyone says, that anthem is for BRITAIN and not ENGLAND. England needs its own national anthem

Thank you tomc3484. My Wife and I attended every day of that match. It was a fantastic occasion and you could not have written the script any better than what actually happened. The patriotic music was the icing on the cake. Your West Brom are doing well. Michael Parkinson

I made this comment to Evan Kossoff (American music composer), “I don't expect Americans would know anything about cricket but you may be interested in the way music was used in the Test Match at Nottingham” - his reply was “ regarding the video, you're right in that I only know a bit about cricket, but I do have to say that the quality of singing is much better than what I'm accustomed to at American sporting events” All the best, Evan

Hello phillipbutler101, your comment prompted me to look and listen to this video again. I wept when I heard the announcer say "Phill Hughes on 7". A tragic loss and as you write "Rest in Peace". Michael Parkinson

Thank you Pratiswik Zehen for your comment. Of course I did not know about the tragedy that was to befall Phil Hughes when I loaded the video. The uploader of a KZread video can revise the title at a later date so that is what I did. You are very observant because no one else has commented. Best wishes Michael Parkinson
