Jerry Williams, real name Erik Fernström, is the Swedish king of Rock 'n' roll. He's been at it since the late '50s - early '60s and still going strong to this day. He both performs material written for him as well as covers other artists songs. At 73, Jerry's still going strong! Toured this summer... And his voice is still as strong and appealing as it was when he started his career - Not bad! :)

This song is from the album 'Can't Slow Down', 2000. 'Jerry Williams', or Sven ERIK Fernström as his christian name was, was born April 15th 1942 and passed away March 25th 2018, from cancer. At the time he started playing /singing, 1962, every young rock artist with any dignity should have an English name, and another version, and sometimes nickname, of 'Erik' is 'Jerka', thereof 'Jerry'. The first years he sung with the band 'The Violents', but he had a number of other different bands behind him through the years, also several collaborations with other artists, not always expected but never the less successful, as with the opera singer Malena Erman in 2013, 'Counting miracles', very beautiful. But of course he mostly worked with other rock musicians in his own genre, as 'The Boppers' i. e., like the song 'Who's gonna follow you home?'. A FEW other notable songs are; 'It Started With A Love Affair' 'Did I Tell You' 'I Can Jive' 'Keep On " 'Vinterdag' (Winter saga) and an AMAZING cover on 'Working Class Hero'. Besides music he had two interests; his dog./dogs, German Shepherd, and heavy weight lifting work out. He even co-wrote a book 'Det är aldrig för sent att börja träna' (It's never too late to start working out) with Ulf Bengtsson, body builder, born 1954, at his peak ranked No. 3 in the world. Jerka kept his cancer desease to himself and the nearest family and friends, so it was a shock to everyone when this 75 years YOUNG and very fit man suddenly wasn't here anymore. Another thing all Swedes will remember is his very special accent / dialect. He spoke like the working class guy from Solna, north outskirts of Stockholm, he was, but when everybody else lost that accent and all the special, often humorous, expressions, he stuck with that. Thank you, Jerka! The best representative ever. Yes, working class, he actually was a plummer before music took all time, or more likely, until he could make a living from music. No-one is fully dead until forgotten about. Jerry Williams will live for a long, long time ahead. 💞🎶🎵🎤🎸

My favorite Irish singer Daniel O'Donnell has a version of this George Strait song too and he did it a very good job with it. But I really like Jerry Williams' bouncy version that you posted. I disagree...I still think George's version is way out in front...We've had loads of covers of this beauty here in Ireland. Don't it make you want to dance...and it's not as simple as one might think to sing....the timing..try it...I did..Mary Black also did a cover on this side of the pond...Of course the real genius is John Prine who wrote the song...
