There's some good advice to be followed in Marcus Aurelius' Meditations, for example, but don't get too hung up on stoicism, because that's not completely healthy either. Sometimes you really need to express your anger and other powerful emotions if you don't want it to build up inside and literally get sick at some point, which has been proven for decades by studying the connection between body and emotions, and how cancer and autoimmune diseases appear, in most cases. Stoicism without therapy is pretty much bottling everything inside, which is a bad idea if you're not in control of your emotional state.

Never heard of Graham, but great interview skills. He actually listens and asks questions based on where the conversation goes. Too many interviewers just have a set of questions that they want to get through.
Jerry, I'm 62 year old homeless vet. And i watch a lot of videos, because I love to learn. Like you, i feel younger than i am. Like you, i didn't work after covid for 2 years. I just started exercising 9 months ago. I couldn't walk half a block. Exercising, weight training has been my savior. ( my depression is still here, and unlike you i want to not live, but at least I'm physically healthy). Working out is my meditation. I can squat and deadlift very heavy weights because I focus on one simple thing at a time. I do meditate and have taught others. I also do yoga. I love how you interview. You do it with humor, mindfulness and with Sincereness. At least that is what i have observed. Thank you. I will read up on stoicism. I have read a bit on saint Thomas Aquinas, Buddhism, and others. In prison, my friends said to me," is anyone shooting at you?" This question is like your current philosophy. If no one is shooting at you, don't worry. Just move on to the next thing. Be blessed and Shalom.😊 Ps, instead of expresso, its instant coffee😂.

100% benefits for me too...As a veteran I have found Transcendental Meditation to be the best thing that ever happened to me. It is easy to do, easy to learn, and the benefits come right away. In fact, it is the best time of every day. And I agree with what Jerry said, if you want to be happy and be your best self, TM is the best tool in life. @@changingworld7467 Jerry never speaks about it, but I wonder if he has ever considered the metaphysical benefits to it. Meaning, being in the right place at the right time, how harmoniously all the right people came together for that show. That's not to say he did not work really hard in addition, or that he had everything handed to him... not at all. I'm just saying, that Jungian "synchronicities" seemed to happen more with me when I meditated, and I can see how someone like Seinfeld benefited in unseen ways that go beyond what we typically think of as cause/effect benefits of TM.

His "comedians in cars" episode with Michael was really memorable. You can really tell how much he suffered for and was haunted by his mistake, how genuinely sorry he was, and how difficult it has been for him to get past the shame, guilt, and public backlash he experienced from that. A lesson in self forgiveness, and the injustice of sometimes paying mercilessly and 10 thousand fold for a mistake as simple as letting anger get the better of you for just a few seconds.

Anyway our paths never directly crossed & the show soon came out & he took off. I was a regular at Dangerfield’s & he never played there. he doesn't have to do anything, his place in the culture is assured. Generations will continue to discover his sitcom. If you have no mantra (say from a TM ceremony), try repeating something like: "shiva om," or other spiritually enriched words that resonate with you. Keep silently repeating, in your own mind, that mantra or those spiritually comforting words. In the beginning try doing meditations for at least 20 minutes and then increase to 50 minutes or longer, if you feel so inclined. Best is around 50 - 60 minutes of meditation. Sometimes you are really in the zone and meditations can go on for much longer than one hour.
i was able to medidate in 2012 ( around the Eurocup , i remember) . Stopped drinking any alcohol, stopped taking a benzo i was becoming dependent. Just made myself relax and meditate at night and, during the day, tried to be as relaxed as possible, paying attention to breathing, muscle tension, focus, etc, went to bed early, woke up early. After a few weeks i attained a state of relaxation that was pure bliss. My mind was super focused, i was seeing more intense colours and more defined shapes, i was hearing more clearly, thinking with more clarity, solving problems with much more ease. Then some personal problems came up, anxiety slowly build up and i was back to my old standard anxious self. I thought to myself that was not too big a problem, cause i had learned how to do it and i would be able to come back to it. Well, its 2024, i still havent been able to attain that level of relaxation again

Be honest, did you ever truly try getting back to that place?

@@gregsh8240 That blissful place is always inside you. Only a matter of deciding to focus on it instead of other things.
I guess I should read my copy of Marcus Aurelius now
JS doesn’t get old. I remember laughing with him back in 1996 and so cool that it is still fun to listen to him. Long live Jerry. But I am not going down the expresso path dude. You on your own on that one. Decaf all the way. Coffee mug cheers 🎉
So many facts here
an amazing human!
His outlook has changed a lot. I can remember the episode of Seinfeld where Kenny Banya asks him “Do you workout?”, and Jerry says “No, I don’t”. “Well you should”. “Why?”
God bless
Love Jerry and Marcus Aurelius.
Excellent.
I had no idea Jerry Seinfeld did meditation in such an extraordinarily committed way, his success now makes a lot of sense. Where can we see the full interview?
I really like this side of Jerry.
Milwaukee. Nice
I love it
As a veteran I have found Transcendental Meditation to be the best thing that ever happened to me. It is easy to do, easy to learn, and the benefits come right away. In fact, it is the best time of every day. And I agree with what Jerry said, if you want to be happy and be your best self, TM is the best tool in life. PS: he started when he was 19 and has been doing it ever since...good luck and good health just seem to come your way when you do it.
5-step success process. 1. Know Your Goals. 2. Encounter Obstacles. 3. Diagnose Impediments. 4. Design Solutions. 5. Implement the Plan.
Im shocked he is 70 ,how did that happen. He looks great !!! Sounds a little slower but still great
Graham gives the best interviews, and Jerry is da man !! My all time favorite comedian
The bad reviews really hurt. They are often unfounded and said by someone who couldn't do it better.
He doesn’t look a day over 50👏

Well having a billion dollars and as he would say, not having worked at a real job in his life helps a person stay young! I say that with mad respect for him, very tough profession and he deserves great success. He has certainly added a lot to the lives of many people he has never met, I've enjoyed countless laughs from that show.

He keeps young by not having to work like normal people. His workload is forgettable as he laughs all the way to the bank. Thanks to Larry David who to be frank is the one with the talent;)
Jerry seems much more self aware here than I’ve seen before. Still a bit arrogant but coming more from a place of not caring what others think; in older interviews I thought he often came off as smug and lacking awareness.

@@DNGMaestro it's just an observation. Like his comedy. Observational. Jerry is in love with his own thoughts. He is proud and excited abut his "insights". I have no problem with it but it's kind of ...comical.
