Talk show hosts used the concept to establish control over their show, but it became an inside joke in the industry. Andy Kaufman had a bit where he interviewed people from a desk six feet above the guest.

Why do I like Seinfeld so much ???

The cars in "CiCGC" all had to be donated, because the only car JS deals with on a personal level is a Porsche. Besides, in every episode I'd seen of the show Seinfeld always said he'd tried to match the car he drove for an episode to the personality of the comedian he was interviewing for that day; and, obviously, not everyone only has a personality to match a Porsche.

I've always thought Eisen's set is a "I'm-more-important-than-you" kind of set. It's designed to prop the host's ego. These type of sets have been done away with for decades.

the whole raised platform for the interviewer has always bugged me. it just feels like a cheap trick yet it's so obvious.

If Seinfeld thinks the height discrepancy is large for this set, he should visit Colin Cowherd's set.
