ShadowAngel if they can write storylines You can be interested in and make matches you can get invested in then that’ll definitely put them up there with WWE. WWE is to worried about shareholders and advertisers which is stopping them from growing as a company. It says it all that the biggest stars in wrestling are still the ones from the attitude/ruthless aggression era. Nobody cares about this boring predictable writing. Give it a few years and WWE will be on Nickelodeon. It’s so bad they have to bring back old legends to talk about there past for 10 minutes to try and get ratings.

If there is a tough part about this, it's getting wrestlers. The reason I say that is because there is plenty of promotions doing well. You no longer just have WWE. You have ROH, New Japan, Lucha Underground, AAA, and even though they are struggling to find an identity, IMPACT. Plus, there's an Indy promotion in Delaware (I think it's ECWA, but could be wrong on that) that does a thing called the Super 8 tournament. That means, there are lots of wrestlers either locked up in contracts or booked for those promotions. I'm surprised that AEW has locked up the guys they have already, but if they can get enough wrestlers in this thing, they have the right financial backing, plus the brains and passion for the business in Cody to succeed. Lawler made a great point, though, in stating that you hope that there are not too many generals and not enough soldiers, because if that happens, you have no direction, and you need direction to succeed in the wrestling business.

Jerry said you can't have attitude era content in this day and age because of sponsors. Has he not seen Walking Dead or American Horror Story? Those shows are so gory and graphic and its on cable tv. Maybe WWE need to drop some of these sponsors and find New ones that won't try to alter the content and just let WWE do what they do. Anytime an outside force tries to alter the content of somebody else's work, the content always suffers. Ever since WWE went public and got all these sponsors, the content has slowly gone hill to the point ratings are in the ones at time. These sponsors need to let WWE do what they wanna do, that's what got them to the top in the first place.

Why are people so damn salty? It's not like our options are limited. We have Monday night Raw, Tuesday Smackdown, NXT, NXT UK, 205 live, Impact on Friday, NJPW on friday and saturday, a thriving UK wrestling scene putting out amazing matches, ROH on friday, saturday and sunday in the middle of the night, the wwe network, honorclub, njpw world plus several other small promotions have their own streaming services, youtube, a bunch of websites that stream wrestling shows for free, and shows are being run on twitch now to expand the audiences even further! I was just saying the same thing to my friends that Lawler is saying here about competition being good for the companies. But I also said that it will only be great until Vince makes a move to buy up the new competition. If these folks are investing 7 Billion and get an offer of two times that amount to sell, with possible options and contract jobs, how could they not? This is what Vince does, he gobbles up the competition and he might want to scoop these new guys before they become a real threat. Hopefully, that doesn't happen here. AEW is grabbing some good talent and I would love to see them make it. I am just waiting for the announcement that Bret Hart is heading there too! Is Vince really the lowest player on this tier of players? I would argue that no matter how many numbers you crunch, and again, your numbers seem pretty accurate, Vince is the most well-known player of all! On top of that, Vince has proven time and time again that he will not lose. I read somewhere that Vince is valued at around 9 billion while his company, apart from his personal assets, was valued at an additional one and a half billion. This is not counting the finances of his wife, or his children and Triple H who is now part of this family. If the Khans do have that money, then Vince will have it as well. Anyway, it will be interesting to see how this unfolds. By the way, I am a little shit-faced as I am writing so if some of it does not make sense, don't blame me!

If AEW gets an antenna tv deal, they’ll be fine. Back in the attitude era days people rave about, Turner and USA were on the most basic package. Now cable packages are ridiculous and it’s the one expense that people cut down/out. I’ve not had those channels for a while. I’m getting by on Internet and antenna tv. I don’t know if Nielsen ratings take streaming into their numbers, but there might be more people watching that way than through cable/satellite. The promotion will be fine if it has the working relationship with ROH and new Japan. It makes good business sense for them to. Imagine introducing Tanahashi to a bigger American audience. Or the GOD runs in on a Bucks match to hype a PPV. It’s not about being better than either. It’s about giving fans good rasslin. Everything takes care of itself if that happens.

And that goes to all the promotions right now. I don't watch NJPW because I'd rather watch a promotion from my own country lol. But yeah, I can't believe how hyped I am for this. I know a lot of people hate him, but if they can get CM Punk that could bring a lot of eyes to the product (on top of Jericho and Rhodes). Maybe even a J.R. for commentary? I don't know, but I'm actually excited for AEW!

See what people don't understand this is my opinion as a wrestling fan back in the Attitude Era what I got out of that is that I felt that Vince McMahon was desperate because he was losing ratings so what he did is gave us an edgier product for us to see and that's how WWE beat WCW..... Now as time changes product changes investors change nowadays A lot of people keep bringing up saying I want the Attitude era back do you believe for one second that if the Attitude era was apart of this era we living in right now well the WWE be around hell no and the same thing goes for ECW all the shit that they went through all the matches all the tables fire thumbtacks you think that in this generation would allow that we are living in a very sensitive and I'm going to see that with a huge capital (SENSITIVE SOCIETY) I agree with this video and if they do not get the adult content that they want and that's going to be a very difficult content to have because the TV deals and the people that are involved in that are going to say hey we can't have this we can't have that you can't do this you can't do that so on and so forth it's going to be just like a TNA and lucha underground that's the main attraction like they say sex sales and you know that WWE is a PG-13 entertainment business and I hear the same thing over and over again about guys saying oh I want The Rock to come back oh I want Stone Cold to come back oh I want Batista to come back WWE fans always dwell in the past he always want the Attitude era the ruthless aggression era to come back dude Time has changed and all we got to do is move forward

You're not gonna do that on some fucking streaming service that no one has or has ever heard of. You want people who aren't wrestling fans to watch. In order to do that you have to have a good cable TV deal. TNT TBS Paramount network etc. And they're probably going to get one. My point in my initial comment was everyone is hyping something that hasn't even had its first show yet. When they get a TV deal then the hype begins. "You had a lot of the wrestlers all of a sudden be involved in making business decisions" Not entirely accurate interpretation in terms of what happened in WCW. In WCW, too many guys had creative control in their contracts, took full advantage of that fact, and were total marks for themselves, messing with the show in the process. Also, Hall and Nash had that "favored nations" clause so when a guy like Bret Hart comes in, they get paid as much as he does even though Hall did not contribute much after 1998. Now, it is true that having too many active wrestlers being part of the creative team was a problem for WCW but that was at a time when they were already failing. I do find it hypocritical that Jerry Lawler, a man that both ran a wrestling company and made himself the top guy in that company, is showing concern about wrestlers being in that capacity. There's a big difference in AEW than with WCW. Those guys had never done storylines before they had been put into creative positions. Cody and The Young Bucks (especially) have experience doing their own storylines and angles for a few years now. All In was successful, in part, because of that.

It's PG, but that hasn't stopped it from being beloved by wrestling fans. It's probably a better business decision to be PG and not run the risk of losing advertisers. The pay off of being TV-14 just isn't enough to justify being edgy.

Obviously the promotion is built around The Elite and they should be the focus of the show, but eventually you'll have up and comers who will be worth building up. WCW hung on to the NWO as the focal point for way too long and had insane talent like Jericho and the Radicals under their nose but let them go. I think Cody and the Bucks have a good eye and as long as they create some new stars in addition to The Elite, they will be in great shape.
