Happy Birthday Jerry, you would have been 62 on 16 June, 2014. I worked with you in "Manon" at the Met, you sang beautifully that evening. We miss you.

What a rendition by two of the finest singers of the opera stage. Hampson is great in this one and the late Jerry Hadley - what can one say? Bravo many times over!

More impressed with Hampson here than anywhere else I've heard him sing on YT...the romantic French idiom works well with his voice...and Hadley...damn, what a talent...and so sad that he left us WAY too early...nicest tenor version I've heard.

I think I have heard most of the duos perform this aria. I think this duo has to be the best, in my opinion! They were magnificent!!! No voice over-powered the other. They blended equally as well! Hampson and Hadley were a great match! What a terrible tragedy that Hadley is no longer with us!! He could have had a great career! May he rest in Heavenly Peace!!

Bill dropped his keys on the counter and stood there staring at them, suddenly thinking about all the times he'd thrown his keys there before, and how many days of his life were wasted repeating the same tasks and rituals in his apartment over and over again. But then he wondered if, realistically, this was his life, and the unusual part was his time spent doing other things.

I’m a bass-baritone with 25 years of opera/operetta experience. The lower voice in this duet is definitely intended for the baritone voice. It requires power in the lower moving notes to keep from being overwhelmed while the tenor is soaring. The roles themselves indicate the appropriate fach: youth and passion for the tenor, gravitas and authority for the bass-baritone.

it's systematic: if the tenor pronounces one way, Hampson will pronounce it differently. I prefer Hadley-Titus.
