    My fondness and adoration for this man is uncanny, a man that I have never in life personally met and yet what I feel when I hear his voice and his personal opinions and thoughts on things doesn't cease to amaze me. Thanks for the upload. Somehow these interviews have this way of making his music sound even better. ~p.s., that little treat at the end is just fine with me~

    Man… how I wish good ol’ Jerry was still with us today. Still, thankful for all the music and the wisdom he and the Dead imparted to us. Mainly, a better way to look at the world and a weirder and more fun approach to life. The world is a better place thanks to them.

    This is fabulous. The most lucid (albeit stoned) discussion by Jerry about the band’s creative as well as technical process that I’ve heard anyway. I think the interviewer asked questions that regular people who love Dead and all music want to know, especially in the first half.

    I don't think anyone can deny that Jerry Garcia and his band have to be some of the most fair-minded people in the land to give a concert that lasts for longer than four and sometimes five and more hours if that isn't giving a fair trade for your money then I don't know what isBut also it's nice that if you were in the mode of specialness that sometimes would go on for a lot longer than you bargained for it's nice to not have to walk in to your house and say hey folks show's over and I'm tripping over something in my pants

    Maybe later in life he was a radio guy but he told us that be BSed Rock to get this “interview” he had a pile of photos he asked Jerry to autograph. It was after we left the room that I told my friends we “aren’t leaving Minisota without a copy of our joint smoking session with Jerry” that happened to have been recorded. We waited for Greg and his two friends to come out of Jerry’s room. I had a D5 in my room at the hotel but it was getting close to show time. Greg agreed to make us a copy and it him until February of 1982 to actually send the cassette. There’s more to the story but it’s not important. We had a good time and sure it’s embarrassing to listen to 42 years later but I know Jerry enjoyed that doobie and so did everyone in the room and that’s all I wanted to do was share some excellent weed with Jerry who appreciated it. His gasping and saying oh lord where is this from is confirmation.

    This interview has always made me nervous over the years. You get a feeling from Harrington that under the professional interview he's a rea head freak, then Gans comes in crashes Harrington and asks he same questions and Gans is truly a scary type of Trekkie type nerd or something, then you have good drugs come up and dudes who really listen on your and then Garcia finds himself in a pit of beings who know more about him then he does- and that shot be weird. Very.

    If you're not a celebrity it is hard to express just how weird it is to be chilling with people talking about your craft and all of a sudden realize they live for you, spend all their time thinking about you, talking about you, and think they know you! It's a crazy feeling to realize to the left front and right there are people who are real freaks and are living vicariously through you. These dead archivists have had precious little contact of any with Garcia and yet they talk about him like their know the workings of his mind and spirit. They don't know! It's like a Star Trek convention or something when an actor or actress comes in for a questions and answers and the crowd asks ridiculous things like "in episode 42 when you met the Clinton general, was that the sun gun t420 or the ls710 maximized that you had on your belt.... And what did you think of Villa Klingon- are there really mirrors in all the panels?" And you just say exactly what you said to me..... "Whaaaas?" Fucking scary. I know Garcia way better just chilling not being a paycho archive nerd or complete freaked out fanatic. It's creepy. What do any of these guys have to show beyond the grateful dead really? Few of them are married or have other jobs or hobbies and get I still don't think they get it. They hypothesize all day about the meaning of songs but can't get Hunter on the phone. All I had to do was ask he come it to your and wish granted. Why? Because am a real person who really knows these guys and the way Gans is - and all these silly archivists- their just needs. Truly. Have met a few of them and wow, they say some mean shit about Garcia and I fire right back cause they don't know shit. Bunch of dorks couldn't get lives of their own. Did that answer your question?

  • @veek.6463

    @veek.6463

    6 жыл бұрын

    Listen again- the interviewer that starts is okay- little star struck and also- like everyone else in the room- more interested in talking about his own understanding than asking far out questions that Garcia loves from friends. And isn't this the interview where they tell him he stood out and played solo and he didn't remember? I think it's this one. That was an awesome show. He played invasion of the body snatchers (or whatever- you figure it out)--- and that's why this is like. It's the strangest feeling when you realize everyone around you is watching your every move and really over conceptualizing and elaborating on it mentally in a way that is pretty unhealthy. These same people didn't give a fuck about Garcia's declining health and pressed him to give them more tidbits until his early death. I had many amazing conversations with Garcia on things he truly loved like books and movies and religion and the state of the environment, art, the ocean and rainforest, good drugs, and sex. And I don't go make movies or write books about it. That's bizarre others do. They don't know him. They just think they do because heir whole life is all about him. Which is great because he really is God. So it's good they are devoted by holy shit- nerd alert
