I concur all my beautiful dead family..Jerry was the cream that rose to the top
Same venue that I saw the doors in 1967, crummy place to have to play ,but that's NJ for you. This take is timeless.

After a few viewings I am convinced that this indeed the best of the Master. Let's have some snaps for this genius please!
I had a severe stroke and couldn't hear music in my head anymore. I started playing my Grateful Dead and Jerry albums non stop, listening to it in my Sirius in my car. I finally hear the music again. Thank you Jerry for 15 of the best years of my life watching you play.

Watch the movie the music never stopped. About some kid who leaves home to follow the dead then basically gets found as a strungout hippie who lost his mind and can’t gain new memories. Takes place back in the day. Then he starts doing music therapy. The kid is a huge deadhead. Great movie
ok, I'm a Jerry diehard fan ... but Jeezus, you look at some of this stuff, and you just know, he is one of the greatest of all time
I am a old man and I love the Beatles, Jerry makes me cry every time I watch him do this song ,it is truly beautiful and music is one of the most important things in my life.

Jerry had "it" is all i can say. Not sure the right words for "it" but he was unmatched then and now. Prolific guitarist, singer and song writer.
Jerry was so great that the crowd would cheer at the beginning of his solo. It's like stepping into a warm bath of sound.
@joefilter2923

They would cheer because the rest of the song was a little well, it can’t compare to the original. The solo is almost always interesting though.
The sun is up, the sky is blue, it's beautiful and so were you Jerry 😇

Jerry is so Jerry right here. Classic , man do I miss him. Thanks for all the good times boss!!
1980 was a remarkable year for Jerry Garcia - another triumphant trip around the sun absolutely playing his heart out with the Grateful Dead, the Reckonings held at The Warfield and Radio City Music Hall , and then there's the winter 1980 JGB tour, one of the finest I know of. A very special time.

I just said I prefer the Dear Prudence from March of 1980 lol. I like the vocals better but this keys solo is a stomper. 🤣✌
Agree regarding guitar solo, exquisite!
I know I should be more sophisticated, & not be so amazed at a simple video-tape (grainy & dark as it is) but to me it's a wonderful magic time machine. & although my calendar says its 1/29/2016, it's really 7/26/1980!!! at least for 12:36 seconds. Miss Jerry, & really miss John Kahn too. He was an amazing player & the perfect fit for Jerry, as well as selecting & arranging much of the material. There may have still been a JGB without him, but it would not have been nearly as great, or held together as long.
@ACC-lu8lk

daskitten1 Why be sophisticated when there is dark grainy beauty, just like this? There is no need to try better one's self if perfection has been met. Good thing Jerry didn't know he had already reached perfection. We would have lost him sooner than we did.

I think most people take the 'liveness' aspect of recordings for granted. Whereas when I listen to this, or The Allmans at the Fillmore for example, or Janis live, it never fails amaze me that the experience is like seeing light from a distant galaxy which exploded eons ago. It's a historic moment which we can relive (without necessarily having been there in the first place) over & over again, by simply pressing play. & then when you add video, like we have here with The JG-Band, the experience is that much more mindblowing, be it grainy or crystal clear.

ai'll save you the confusion. Do THINK UP when you pass away one very happy day in the far far far far future. that will help you tremendously. but you need to kinda trust when you see Garcia that you are seeing God. I hope you understand. He wore simple clothes and the same basic appearance to make that easy for you to remember who he is. Jerry Garcia is God. yeah yeah yeah we all modify slightly when we visit this world but you'll see. follow him. he leads the dead
Yes I was there , breathing the same air as Jerry one night at the New Jersey shore , when Asbury Park was still all dilapidated. What a great old venue, saw Phil Lesh there last year ! You are part of everything Dear Prudence look around round round

So true. When Jerry was in-groove---musically verbally, like he was here, nothing like it. This one is as good as it gets, imo. Being in that space is like being in heaven.
