absolutely-Roenick was fucking nuts and just such a tremendous tremendous player. I dont think he gets his due. One of the best I've ever seen. He was Ovechkin before Ovechkin. His first few years in the league the guy was decking people and scoring like 50 goals. Madman

My favorite JR story is when he signed with the Flyers and Berube was one of the couches. Bernie once told him on the ice he was gonna “get him”. Years later JR gets signed to the Flyers, and his first day in the locker room in walks Berube and Berube decks him. Walks away saying “told you I was gonna get you”. JR tells the story and it’s hilarious

That’s not the way it went down JR. I remember the coverage in the DMN & by Razor Reaugh’s pregame like it was yesterday. Both Roenick & Tkachuk were chirping in the media that Dallas was soft. Also, JR said that he couldn’t understand a word that Hatcher said. Then he continued to refer to him as “Lurch.” Big pregame words that were paid back in a absolute crushing hit. Albeit, Hatcher’s feet intentionally left the ice. I don’t recall another player mimicking or making fun of Hatcher while he was the Captain in Dallas again.

He should of been a first ballot hall of famer. Its not his fault his teams couldn't win Stanley cups. As s Stars fan, I happened to be at that game in Phoenix with some customers. After that hit from Roenick to Modano, i threw my beer in disgust and was immediately ejected from the arena by one of the ushers. Fast forward to 2-days later and I'm back home in Dallas at the Stars/Coyotes game and watch our captain, Derrian Hatcher, completely obliterate Roenick. Payback was a bitch. Looking back on it now, I'm glad that type of retribution is long-gone in hockey. Ruins players careers.

People less familiar dont understand, a 240lbs player of an endurance sport meaning Hatcher was probably 10% body fat and 75% ass and legs flying at 15km/hr easy and launching his elbow into an oncoming big guy. I'm surprised JR can pronounce words at his current age.

  • @UnrealTech9403

Add the fact that the elbow pads are hard plastic which makes it way more brutal. It's essentially a flying knee at that point, it's surprising that Roenick was able to play anymore without going into shock. That kind of injury leaves mma fighters on the ground and they get carried out on a stretcher. That kind of pain tolerance is unfathomable, seriously, he's like a movie villain or something if it was in a movie it would be implausible. When you get hurt that bad most people get nausea and start to get dizzy and can't even sit upright. In a recent fight with Mike Perry and Luke Rockhold where Luke got a fraction of the injury he quit and couldn't take the pain. Like 1/10th of what happened to Roenick a world champion fighter couldn't take.
