    She was disturbed by a lot of "Mother", allegedly...yet afterwards dated the director 22 yrs older, saying he was such a visionary and the film was so wonderful because of the symbolism or something. Also the time she blamed Trump for the hurricanes? She's also known as being a Harvey's Girl- as in Wine.$t.3ln. And knew in advance that she was winning that Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook, in an interview I saw a couple of years ago. The role was supposed to have been Angelina Jolies and she admitted to being too young for the role but was given it anyway. She wasn't bad in it, but I don't think she was especially memorable either. I didn't think Passengers was that bad- I quite liked it for what it was. The ones that did really badly were Serena and Pemberton? It was also alleged by another Hollywood figure that let's say that she was used to the casting couch. Hence the Oscar. Like Gwyneth Paltrow. And Jessica Chastain, (who's films I found to be quite uninteresting), and happened to feature, Jennifer Lawrence. Salacious rumours or not, the films that I thought she excelled in was the Hunger Games (except the last one for several reasons not her acting), and indeed, her early ones, the first 2 X-men, prequels and the masterful Winter's Bone. She deserved the Oscar for that one but sadly didn't get it.

    I came to say exactly this 😳 Wow. I wonder what it is about JLaw that makes them say this and not about idk, Pattinson, Radcliffe or Hemsworth. I can't quite put my finger on it 🤔 I'm bummed to know that actresses I love like Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Jessica Chastain, Rose Byrne, Christina Ricci or Reese Witherspoon are ready to retire. And God help my geriatric crew Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Courteney Cox, Helena Bonham Carter, Jodie Foster, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Pfeiffer and Meryl feckin' Strip. Luckily we still have a large pool of talented actresses to play opposite newcomers deserving of some spotlight like that promising Clint Eastwood guy. He'll soon become a household name. Mark my words.

  • @DerMoerpler

    @DerMoerpler

    Жыл бұрын

    @@ghju "Mid career" is used for any time that's not the first or last few years, it doesn't necessarily mean the actual midpoint (because how could you even know without a magical crystal ball). Jennifer Lawrence isn't a newcomer anymore and she's not retiring from acting in the foreseeable future, so she's "mid career". It's a common expression and not that deep.

  • @ghju

    @ghju

    Жыл бұрын

    @@DerMoerpler Ah, yes, the evergreen "it's not that deep". Funny how it's never deep when it's about something directed at women and not men. The irony of you mansplaining this is not lost on me 😂 Edit: there's also a word for an ongoing job: career. I know I know, it's kinda simplistic. But hear me out: when you go from point A (newcomer) to point B (retired or 💀) it's pretty useful to have a way to describe that part. It's a bit like not needing to add mid to "journey/trip" or "afternoon" or even "adolescence". Crazy concept but it might work 🤔

  • @DerMoerpler

    @DerMoerpler

    Жыл бұрын

    @@ghju @G M "Mid career renaissance" was used for Matthew McConaughey when he was in his very early 40s - by that logic, that would be too early either. If you google the term, you'll see plenty examples of men from different fields. What term would you use if you want to specify the point in time Jennifer Lawrence is at in her career right now? She's not a newcomer, but she's not part of the old guard either, so she's somewhere in the middle of her career. "Mid is literally used anytime someone means "not the start and not the end". You get interrupted mid conversation, no matter how long you have talked. Athletes stumble mid throw. It's a common expression. Also, I don't know if you watch this channel a lot, but deconstructing double standards like the one you accuse them of here is their bread and butter. I'm sure they didn’t aim to disparage Jennifer Lawrence.

    That box is honestly just the Hollywood machine that puts mainstream actors in mainstream movies. As if popular celebrities can not do indie films because they’re supposed to be “above it” even though Hollywood movies are frankly far more stagnant and restrictive.

    It's because casting directors, who are the ones who find talent, do not have power to put people where they can shine best. Directors and producers decide which actors get cast. And usually it's based on attractiveness and popularity rather than suitability.

    There are some big names who've somehow sidestepped the blockbuster machine: Robert Patinson did it by writing personally to small indie directors whose work he liked. Good Time was purpose-written for him to star in after he contacted the safdie brothers saying he loved their work. He's also done stuff like The Lighthouse, which is about as indie as it gets. If you're huge star, I imagine it's got everything to with your agent/agency.

    Jennifer literally said her managers were hiding scripts sent to her because they wanted her to accept higher paying roles (since they get a percentage of her pay). Basically they were lying to her about what movies wanted her so she would only think big movies waned her. She said she hated doing the X-men movies. She wanted to do indie movies, but she thought none of them wanted her. Really, her managers were lying to her. So she was forced to keep doing movies she hated. She literally demanded they kill her character off in the last X-Men she was in because she hated it so much and no longer wanted to be a part of it. Of course she was lost! Her team was lying to her and forcing her into roles she hated! She fired them all by the way.

That’s because she already has a ton of money and fame and doesn’t need more. I like JLaw and she has every right to do indie movies instead of bigger Hollywood movies, I just think we all need to realize how privileged she is in that decision, and in general.

    She enjoyed being the cool girl and the celebrity. She lost momentum because she couldn't control her words and ego. Now, she no longer has the fanbase she once had and blames Passengers for that. By the time the movie came out, she already had lost some of her fans. And lets not forget her closeness with HW.

    That movie Joy was pretty badass. The ending title is the reason you should watch the whole thing! Jennifer Lawrence will always be cool and dominate! She should go for roles like the women she depicted in Joy. I don’t like that most actors confusing suffering with wanting to connect with audience members. You’re all superstars. People want to see you in roles that make us smile. Roles that remind us about the triumph of the human spirit!

    @gobagem6132 Okay, there are bad and good things about Jennifer Lawrence...On the one hand, she's 5'9", so she can't wear high heels to go dancing with shorter guys...Too, she didn't want a college education...She wanted to be an actress before she was 20 years old... She was born, however, on 15 August, 1990, which is a very holy day...She got married to a fellow who's older than she is, and she has never been divorced... If she wanted to introduce herself to me, I'd hope she not be egotistical, have a good sense of humor, stay sober, and at least be sociable... So, thanks, and Happy New Year...

    “Passengers” was a good story that was edited to make the male protagonist not look like a jerk. He was a jerk and they should have started the movie when Aurora woke up and the audience learn what happened to him at the same time Aurora does. The movie could have been very interesting because he made her not a passenger but a prisoner on that ship and then she choose to save everyone on the ship including him in an act of selflessness and heroism. But, nah the director / editors ruined it.

    I think she was genuinely the guy's girl because she grew up with brothers in Kentucky riding horses. People loved that about her because it was refreshing and relatable until, like with everything, they got sick of it and bullied her for being a fake cool girl. She may have leaned into it a bit, I admit. But now she dipped out, tries not to be noticed because she saw the nasty side of fame when you stop being the darling. And we are celebrating that she toned herself down to avoid constant critisism by the media and twitter "fans"?
