Jenn Air Glass CookTop Replacement

JED4430WR02 Replacement Cooktop Glass Replacement with my Daughter Gina Supporting
The house we bought 4 yrs ago has Jenn Air appliances. If I would have bought these myself I would be so disappointed. They are the worst, flakey, piece of junk appliances I have ever owned. That said, the cooktop had a number of cracks when we bought the house, I opted to fix it even though I hate the outright dangerous controls on this cooktop. We'll see how it goes.

Just wanted to say thank you for making this video.. I had to replace a burner switch in mine, and was dreading it, because I had no idea what was involved.. Watched your video, and realized it doesn't look that hard.. And it's not.. My unit was even easier than your model.. $46 for a new switch, and good as new.. So thank you for showing me the way..

I couldn't disagree with you more that Jenn Air cooktops "are the worst, flakey, piece of junk appliances". I installed my Jenn Air 30" radiant heat cooktop, model number JED8430BDF, more than 10 years ago, and it has worked perfectly since then. It has a white top, and looks as new as the day I bought it. And I use it daily. Oh, and I also use it as an extra countertop when baking. I'm remodeling the kitchen, and will install Jenn Air's Black Floating Glass 30" JX3 Electric Downdraft Cooktop, model JED3430GB. Your installation video was thorough and very useful. But making superlative negative statements about a company's product is something that could be considered libelous.

Thanks for the feedback, we're all entitled to our opinions, I'm glad you like yours. My new one is scratched and discolored already just like original. The burners still turn off anytime a tiny drop of water lands on the touch controls and they randomly turn on when something grazes the surface of the touch controls, so I have to constantly remember to lock the controls to avoid a fire hazard. The Jenn Air oven I have is no better and gives me error codes almost every time I use it, which requires attempting to turn it back on several times until it "takes" after three or four attempts a couple minutes apart each. You cannot simply turn it on and walk away because it will error and the food won't be cooked. The error is for the fan, replaced it, same error still occurs. It's not lible if it's a personal accounting of my experience with the brand.

Hey man, thanks for the feedback. I used DAP Polyurethane caulk. It's very tough stuff and remains a little flexible.

@0:25 - Good heavens - didn't they ever CLEAN around the edge? Nasty, nasty! it was as simple as lift from the bottom of the unit (when cool, of course) and clean under the seam edge.

It was pretty gross... had it been installed properly with a good silicone or polyurethane caulk then it would not harbor the gross stuff. All fixed now, sealed up good, easy to clean around it.

If I need to replace my entire stove, can I replace it with a non jennair electric stove? I’m concerned because other brands don’t have a downdraft

If you are not going to show how the top is attached to the counter and how to remove it, it is not very helpful. Was it just the caulking? Were there screws beneath? Once you get it out the rest is easy.

Can't show steps that aren't there. Yes it was just the caulk.

Mine doesn't even have caulk.. The weight of the entire unit holds it in place, you can literally just push it up from underneath..
