I am an old retired scientist in my eighties. I had a heart attack in my youth (65 yo). 5 days in hospital with poor prognosis. I had dropped my weight from 320 pounds down to 270# then ate 12 # of salty food and drinks on Christmas Day. At 7:30 pm I was in hospital with a pulse over 300! Doc said I had about 20 minutes to live if they didn’t get the pulse to 100. I made some changes over the last 2 decades that got me down to 196# @ 6’2”. I disagree with taking TRT and eating frequently. I hunt before I eat (exercise). I try to have a 4-6 hours eating window. This has helped me get rid of the loose skin! I agree with the foods to get rid of starting with sugar. It is a toxin! My skin looks like it did in my forties. I look and feel young. When I got Covid in Jan 2020 it barely affected me because I started taking 5000 IU of vitamin D3+180 mcg of Vitamin K2 MK-7 version 3 months earlier. I have discovered many unknowns in my journey through life and am very fortunate. My goals are focused on living a healthy lifespan beyond 105 yo. I feel like I will make it!

Steve, I too used to lift weights. Started in 1996 at age 45, after enduring a Stomach Bug for 3 days, and losing some weight as a result, I began to Workout with weights. Results came pretty quickly. My Strength increased and my Body changed & improved. I began taking many supplements including Creatine , Tibulus, and DHA, ZMA, etc. I'm 71 Now, and fell into relatively poor shape. Too much Belly fat, deteriorating Muscle Mass. But I have Arthritic conditions and Inflammation in my body's Spine and Joints and systemically in y entire body. I can't lift the amount of weight that I could say 5 or 6 years ago. What I didn't do was Drink enough Water, way too much Coffee, etc. Yes, I think this man is an inspiration, However, there is a qualifying distinct factor here !! He took Hormonal Therapies which is disguised language for STEROIDS & probably Human Growth Hormones !! And as is purported here - like any Body Building magazine will tell you, to Increase the consumption of quality Protein;. Lower (but Do not eliminate good Fats) , cut out all Sugar and lower Carb intakes. I'm Going To Try to Reboot (if My Spine Cooperates) the Body. Good Luck To You as You embark on this Plan.

He states he was tested and followed medical recommendations. Yes, he looks amazing. I’ve followed him for years. My body at 68 isn’t far behind him, but I haven’t put in the effort he has. Or the discipline. I only average 3 days a week, still eat some sugar, though eating healthier by virtue of leaving the US for Europe where there aren’t nearly as many chemicals in food. I am able to think more clearly, my memory is better, I sleep better, my body feels like moving, I'm hungrier and I eat more, but I maintain my weight, and I've put on about three extra lbs of muscle since I started testosterone. My sex drive was beginning to dwindle, but now I'm once and twice a week with no problems at all (my wife takes testosterone too). I like to keep my testosterone administration as close to natural as possible, so I take a small amount of testosterone cypionate in the morning for a steady level, and a small amount of testosterone propionate before bed for that natural rise at night. I don't take much. I take a total of 120 mg per week, split into twice a day doses of 17 mg a day. From what I see online, that is a low dose, but it does more than natural youthful levels, so probably 100 mg per week would do just as well. I have no rise in blood pressure or heart rate. Never give up! I had to make the decision at 55 to take control of my heath because doctors only enable your continued deterioration for their steady cash flow. I was an insulin dependent diabetic, had high blood pressure and took meds for tachycardia. I was told repeatedly I would be on insulin the rest of my life and could do nothing about it. Well, today at 59 I am 100lbs lighter, been off insulin for 4 years, haven’t had an A1C over 5.3 in 3 years, take no BP meds or meds for Tachycardia and I’m as fit as I was in my 20s if not more so… I have a similar look to this guy now… Rock hard 6 pack and lean with veins bulging out everywhere. I didn’t think I would make it to 60 a few years ago and I still may not but it won’t be diabetes that kills me or any of the other things that come with an unhealthy lifestyle. Don’t use your age as an excuse and don’t let others convince you that you can’t get ripped later in life. I read so many comments in fitnesses groups by people in their 20s saying u can’t gain muscle after 40. BS! Stay strong and live healthy! All the best to you… And never give up, anyone can do this with determination and hard work…

Until last few years as he was diagnosed on Parkinson's, heart disease and slowly his confidence started to shake a lot. Also there were many other factors that felt like social injustice. He has been keeping his best at maintaining his health and doing required exercise. Videos like these are a boon in a way where it gives confidence against depression at this age to be useful and productive and live life in joy while they are here with us . You're right Jacky, nobody gets that big by just exercising. I went to HS with a guy back in the early 80's that showed up to school after summer break looking like the incredible hulk. He told me he did it by working out and eating alot of protein, but the truth was, he was injecting steroids. He stayed muscled up all through HS so he was obviously continuously injecting the crap to keep his muscle mass. A couple of years ago the guy who is no in his 50's had a massive heart attack. So far, so good- after 12 years at this gym I am now 69 and physically stronger in every way than I was when I was in my early 20's. I'm not perfect though, I still need to get rid of some excess visceral fat. But I'm pretty sure that without the gym workouts, the evil "S" would have made me weaker than I was in my 20's- but instead, I'm considerably stronger.

I do a push down x 40, then lift up x 20, then bench press x 30 [depending how I feel] , then curls x 20 [ or thirty] , hen flys x 30, then another lift up with heavier weights. then a small leg lift x 30 or forty if I feel good. This applies to al exercises. , then I do one arm lift with fairly heavy weights and finally pulling the bar towards me [ I don't know what this is called. I am really encouraged to see you video and it has given me the necessary encouragement to do more. Trouble is I am not sure whether the exercises I am doing are the correct ones. Incidently , I do these weights exercises in my shed where I have a bench and a rigged up pully system. I wondered what contest they were referring to when they said he sent in a before and after picture, which they show in this video, and then state, that to his surprise, he won. However, it is pretty clear from this video, that the before and after were separated by years, not by 12 weeks, and not by following Bill Phillips Body for Life regimen, which is 4 days/week weight training with an upper/lower body split, with 20 min. cardio on alternating days. Perhaps that's why he failed to mention Bill Phillips. Also, as a 66 yr old woman, I've gained 1 lb of muscle, doing weightsx4x/week, earing 120 gm protein/day, no hormones. In my case, hormone replacement therapy caused precancerous uterine growths which had to be surgically removed, followed by 6 months of progesterone. Taking testosterone is dangerous and not necessary.

Short blended so I still have to chew on the nuts. When I’m going out for a walk, I still feel like 30. I lost 2 teeth in the back, the others are in perfect condition without any cavities. On Holliday I’m hated by a lot of guests around the swimming pool and thats only one of those little payoffs that I really appreciate :) And no, no TRT or steroids. I started at the age of 14 with a Bullworker, a very clever device that allowed me to train all muscle groups at home.

Regards Jeff, it has to be said, he is doing a lot to get fit, but he is also on hormone replacement treatment, which does really help with muscle mass and energy levels, so you can't expect these results by just training and eating right.

Definitely an inspiration and where I plan to be in 30 years. As long as people realise that what works for him isn't a definitive blueprint. For example, he may benefit from eating frequent meals each day. Whereas others may prefer to eat twice a day on a more restricted eating window, thereby promoting autophagy. His rational is certainly open to debate on that point. As for the training. Again, once you know what you're doing, then there are so many options; obviously taking into account potentially risky movements and adjusting accordingly. He's done a great job.

I would tend to disagree with you re the eating window and recommend people allow their appetite to dictate when they eat, responding to hunger and answering it with a hearty meal. Of-course an important factor here is how many carbs a person habitually consumes and their insulin response. Personally, I tend to be low carb. But we're all different, so it can never be a one-size-fits-all approach.

@mickey0667 obviously activity levels and intensity of exercise are also relevant factors to consider. Although I think it's progress that we're finally talking more about nutrient density and not being wedded to the notion that we ought to limit protein intake to a certain amount per meal.

Even simple press ups are a struggle , If you have lived a unhealthy life and now in your 60s you can take this good advise and live a lot healthier. So I think it’s best to not lift weights until later when you can change your lifestyle and be healthier and stronger in old age.

I started lifting weights when I was 12. Saved up enough money to buy the standard beginner 110 lb Weider cast iron set. Over the years I slowly added weights until joining the Army. I was in good shape, got me through basic training and AIT. No weights were available, but I did have a chin up bar, and lots of push ups between two foot lockers. This combined with regular PT, I was probably at the best shape of my life. After leaving the Army my weight training was sporadic. I still had my weight set, with an extra hundred pounds of weight, but not the desire. Instead I concentrated on running. When I hit 70, and retired, my attention was again on weights. By this time I have added a universal machine and a few others, but seldom used them. They were scattered about the house. Then I decided to get serious. As you enter my house, immediately on the right as you enter is a large formal dinning room. I studied that room, which we seldom used, and visualized a weight room, and that's what it became. I set up all my exercise equipment, to includes my universal machine, a treadmill, rack full of dumbbells, kettle balls, plus an assortment of weight bars, bands, you name it. I spent about a thousand dollars in additional equipment. Since it was so accessible I use it almost daily. I'm now 75, and estimate I retrieved maybe 70% of the muscle I had at my peak. My arms are now 15 inches, and my goal is 16. Doubt I will hit it, but I will keep trying. In my youth they were 17. I use less weight now, and replace the extra weight with more reps. I've also hit that stage where exercising is almost additive. This was the best move I ever made.
