The annoying part of people asking why victims dont come forward sooner is that they don’t bother to think how shameful u feel after it happens. I made the mistake of telling my best friend in high school to tell her mom that her stepfather sexually assaulted her a few years earlier, and her mother blamed her . It’s usually most victims biggest fear. Sexual assault can really haunt you because u keep thinking wat u could’ve done differently. I hope she finds peace

We still make mistakes and make decisions that are not thought through because case in point, many aren’t mature enough to do that. I was younger than 10yrs when my cousin attempted touching me. There was an overwhelming feeling of fear, confusion & this isn't right. I escaped safely & NEVER was alone with him again, EVER. Ive been following this from the beginning - most of these girl, if not all, were underage - invited to private parties with older rich men, suddenly having money/expensive gifts, flying on private planes to his island - WHERE WERE THEIR PARENTS. When our children were teenagers we knew where they were, who they were hanging out with - going to parties, we had to know the who, when, where and we had to know how they were getting there and how they were getting home. And if they'd suddenly had unexplained money or expensive gifts you can be damned sure we would have dug deep to find out how and why. From all the stories I've read it is my opinion that the parents were just as culpable in the whole f***ed up affair because I've not read one story where a parent asked questions or did anything.

Me too. There are some instances I got to process only now at 35 yo. Like I remember a man in his 40s constantly asking me if I would go swimming with him. I was 100% not aware of the intention of his question back then, and this is how I know 14 is fckn too young to consent! I really thought he just wanted to go swimming. When this memory reappeared in my mind very recently, I almost puked.

You can judge from a personal standpoint, if that's what you prefer, but the laws of the country specifically state a fourteen year old isn't responsible enough, both mentally and emotionally, to make adult decisions. That's what makes crimes like this so heinous. For me, a seventeen year old might be questionable, but not a fourteen year old. Not all kids that age are street smart. I wasn't, growing up very sheltered and in a small town where everyone watched out for each other's kids. What an eye opener college was! Good thing my parents raised me to actually think and to value myself, not 'go along'!

About 20 years ago a similar case happened in Mexico. A famous singer who used to recruit underage girls for her manager. The singer would approach girls exactly the same why as these girls describe Maxwell approaching them. The man got all the girls pregnant. A very disturbing case. Pregnancies, abortions, a dead baby girl who apparently was dismembered and whose body disappeared and was never recovered. Sad part is that they are both free and she continues her career as nothing happened.

Why isn't anyone talking about the woman (recuiter) who enabled to be sexual abuse to start. She should also be sought for prosecution.

If it comes to a trial Im sure the recruiter will be part of it, but make no mistake about it, often recruiters are victumes themselfs. Quite a lot of them are forced into it, or its a way for them to escape their own abuse. They have been mentally broken and conditioned like slaves. we've seen this all over the world. It’s weird how separate America views teenagers than Europe. In Europe age of consent is 14,15, or 16 depending where you are and you can also drink at those ages but in America you’re considered like a baby

This information should be shared in schools- we stop the education at stranger danger and not taking sweets or getting into cars-we need to extend it to refusing easy money for jobs with teens-to save others like this-teaching them to walk away, not into these traps and pay the ultimate price.
