Jefferson Starship (Live) at Marion Ohio Palace Theater

Фильм және анимация

{Music By Jefferson Starship}
Jefferson Starship is an American rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1974 by a group of musicians including former members of Jefferson Airplane. Between 1974 and 1984, they released eight gold or platinum selling studio albums, and one gold selling compilation. The album Red Octopus went double-platinum, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1975. The band went through several major changes in personnel and genres through the years while retaining the Jefferson Starship name. The band name was retired in 1984, but it was picked up again in 1992 by a revival of the group led by Paul Kantner, which has continued following his death in 2016. The group was formed by former Jefferson Airplane members Kantner and Grace Slick, and evolved from several solo albums they had recorded and a business decision to connect the two bands. They were joined by David Freiberg, Craig Chaquico, John Barbata, Pete Sears, and Papa John Creach. Former Airplane frontman Marty Balin subsequently joined the group in 1975, and the following year's album Spitfire was a top five hit. Slick and Balin both left the group in 1978, leaving the remaining members to recruit Mickey Thomas as their replacement. Slick rejoined the group in 1981, which continued with minor chart success. Kantner quit in 1984 and took legal action towards using the name; the remaining members became Starship. Kantner reformed the group as Jefferson Starship: The Next Generation in 1992, which toured regularly throughout that decade and into the 21st century. Following Kantner's death, the group continued with new members; Craig Chaquico filed a lawsuit against them in 2016 for continuing to use the name, and the suit was consequently settled.

    I used to like to go see this band when Paul Kantner was alive and loved ‘em. Since Paul passed I’ve seen the band twice. These guys can blow the roof off any venue. So, David, Kathy, Jude, Chris and Danny keep it rolling till the wheels fall off. Carry the fire!

    I lost interest after the lost Paul, Marty and Slick Aguilar. At least David, Chris and Donnie are there. I do applaud them for carrying on with the music and they still blow away most bands but, for me, it wasn't the same once Paul departed this world and man do I miss dear Marty and his voice. Also, I have to hand it to David for still going at his age. He is an amazing, sweet and enlightened fellow.

    Imagine if you will, being able to go back in time to inform the 1967 Jefferson Airplane members that there would be a future incarnation called Jefferson Starship that would, for better or worse, extend from the 1970's until 2023. You have entered The Twilight Zone.

    What you can point out with "Jefferson Starship" in the current present, is that they are giving you a live performance without backing tracks, without the help of iPad as a band. This current lineup is playing all the songs the most "organic" way. Take out your personal politics, for I couldn't care less about them. Jefferson Starship with their current lineup gives you value what an '"iconic" band should sound live. While we debate "Jefferson Starship versus Mickey Thomas and his Starship" we can find common ground that Jefferson Starship & Starship (featuring) Mickey Thomas are playing their fucking instruments live. Paul Kantner would celebrate this victory on many levels. Go see "Jefferson Starship" and see what real musicians sound live in-real-time. For the love of Pete, focus on the playing your live music behind your instrument and without backing tracks. Jefferson Starship does us a reminder, to focus on the live gig! The current lineup of Jefferson Starship, decided to not tour with a bass player. You have three guitarists, keyboards, and a drummer. I am curious about why the band decided on doing that? Any insights from you, the audience would be appreciated.

    All these musicians have been with Jefferson Starship when Paul Kanter and Marty Balin were alive. David Freiburg is only remaining original member and does great job at 80. Cathy Smith is excellent singer. How many bands can have two different versions playing after all these years. Mickey Thomas still sings great with Starship while this Jefferson Starship will play more Jefferson Airplane songs in concert than the Mickey Thomas version. They are more than a tribute band. They came out with original material for album a few years ago. How many tribute bands do that?

    There is a lot missing when Paul Kanter, Grace Slick, and Mickey Thomas aren't part of the band. They never broke up easily. At least Grace is now just collecting the checks and isn't much into the whole contraversy. I would rather they be called something music of Starship, although David and Donny were in the band during the Jefferson Starship days. Same with Foreigner when eventually Mick Jones hangs it up.

    Jefferson Starship was Paul Kantners baby. Mickey Thomas did a good job for awhile until he decided he was more important than thankful for being added to an already powerful painting. He tried to take the band in a much more commercial direction. He got the rights to continue under the name Starship. Now Grace is another story. She was part of the creation....as well as SUNFIGHTER & BARON VON TOLLBOOTH AND THE CHROME NUN. Definitely 2 Jefferson Starship offerings under different titles. Especially TOLLBOOTH. Yeah she betrayed Paul to some degree being part of that Starship episode .... I think she finally came to her senses.
