@@varunbendre so the Fifth amendment is a law in the US, and if you plead the fifth it means you're exercising your right to not answer anything in a court of law. When Jeff was being tested on the Fourth Amendment, he exercised his right to not answer by pleading the fifth. Annie says "When I asked you for the fourth amendment, you plead the fifth" which from her perspective can be seen as Jeff just getting the amendments wrong.

I definitely think there was plenty of character progression during the later seasons too, and I don't agree that Dan lost his vision, in fact I think the seasons were exactly the story he wanted to tell at the times he wrote them. Only thing I would have liked is to see a few more clips of Jeff teaching, because that would have been amusing to me xD

It's sad but I have to agree. Although I was at first excited to watch seasons 5 & 6 under Harmon again, I ended up mostly kinda disappointed and nostalgically remembering the comedic brilliance of seasons 1-3. A departure of so many original characters along the way definitely played an important part as well.

Didn't Annie end up doing criminal forensic stuff? Intro to law would have been beneficial. Gotta agree with the sentiment that more of Jeff's teaching could have been shown

@@williambyrne5513 His point is that good cinematography can be cropped and still look good. If you were seriously adjusting the aspect ratio, this needs some vertical adjustment to fix some issues with headroom,. Still, if you watch on mute, it looks pretty close to an actual feature. Not every sitcom would pass this test, but Community was shot differently than most sitcoms and it shows.

Honestly I think Jeff and Annie are the best for each other because they force each other to be honest and vulnerable rather then the obligatory “make me want to be better” shtick. When they’re together they recognize their own flaws as well as each other’s and they are ok with it

This scene was so brilliant

I wish they expanded upon the Jeff-Annie dynamic with more scenes in Jeff's class as he gets better at teaching.

This made me so mad. Throughout the show he was clearly competent and knew his stuff. Him failing in between seasons because he took on meaningful cases that didn't pay well is totally valid, they didn't need to retcon incompetence. That honestly ruins so much of his character

He was found out to have never even been to college for law. He got his fake law degree printed online and, for the most part, had very little knowledge of law. From what I understand on the few times we see into his past life, it sounds like he mostly just talked his way out of every case with his usual Winger Speeches, rather than did so via legal knowledge. Basically all charm and no legal sense. Him not knowing the amendments seems a little unlikely but that's kind of part of the joke, that even after all his time as a lawyer, he cares so little about the actual law side of it (and has so little legal education) that he doesn't know any of it. At least he knew to plead the fifth. ;P

I think if you asked lawyers at random to identify the bill of rights from memory 80% wouldn't get more than 5 +/- 1. There's no application for most lawyers practicing in firms or otherwise.

Yeah, the 6th amendment is one of the ones most people actually know. It's the one with the Miranda rights. Though Jeff's career as a lawyer simply being based on making Winger Speeches is a really nice commentary on the American legal system. Because it is actually somewhat plausible.

You definitely have! It's on Netflix for a lot of countries at the moment. Just bear in mind the first 20ish episodes of Season 1 are a bit... standard, but the show really gets into it's own after that.

It's a show called "Community" by Dan Harmon. Ran for 6 seasons. You can watch it on Netflix in a lotta countries rn. Really good show, although Season 1 is a little slow and not a great representation of what it becomes.

It's a show called Community that ran for 6 seasons. It's pretty much geek culture done right. It's always been a popular show in certain circles, but thanks to Netflix gaining all 6 seasons last year in a lot countries, it seems to have made a resurgence lately. Which I think is why clips of it have been trending and hitting peoples recommendeds. :3 If you ever watch it, bear in mind s1 is a really slow starter. s2 and s3 are where it really gained it's following.

That's not technically true. You can plead the 5th in a civil trial if you are giving testimony that can impact your pending criminal case, or potentially incriminate you.

I think my problem with Annie's bad deeds is that she never gets called out on them. When Jeff, Britta, Shirley or Pierce screw up the group usually turns on them. I can't really remember Troy doing something downright shady, and Abed usually gets a pass for not being completely normal, but that's acknowledged within the show (There's a whole episode with Hickey trying to put him in his place). But with Annie, she does something downright terrible and then the group usually ends up apologizing TO her. After she got Chang fired and tried to have the group repeat the whole year everyone rushes to "save her" and Jeff specifically apologizes for not treating her like an adult (what?), and in the space bus episode the the group apologizes to her for the butt flag despite her having just tried to sell out the school to City College. There are also plenty of occasions when she manipulates Jeff and the others to do what she wants by throwing tantrums or pretending to cry etc. and it's somehow presented as cute and and endearing, but when you think about it it's absolutely not. So yeah, the problem is not that Annie is shady, it's that it's hardly ever acknowledged by anyone.

I guess pretty girls get what they want if they know to play the right cards unlike britta. It goes to show that someone like britta who's an ultra liberal can't get anything done but annie playing into her femininity gets more things done in her favour. It's pretty good commentary
