Part of Jeff's secret of his amazingly rich sound came from custom pickups that came from Vancouver Island. I don't remember the name but they used braided very thin gauge wire coiled and set in resin. He experimented with jazz later on but Jeff was a blues man at heart. This world's better for the talent and passion he shared. RIP Jeff.

steven batty - same here bro - saw him at the Regent Theatre in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1991. I had my near-death motorcycle in April 1990 and lost my entire left leg plus I suffered numerous other internal injuries as well. A girlfriend and I attended his gig and it blew my mind. I asked my girlfriend if she could go backstage after it ended and inquire if it would be possible to meet Jeff. He agreed and off we went. It was only a brief meeting and he opened the door of his room backstage and shook my hand and we introduced ourselves. Told him I was a complete left leg amputee from my accident around 12 months ago and we took our conversation from there. I thought he was a way cool super laid back kinda dude with a superb sense of humor/wit and we laughed together at some blind and amputee jokes. It was easily one of the highlights of my life. I felt his inner strength. Unfathomable. I wasn't the strongest of guys back then (27) but man did Jeff Healey provide me with an opportunity to meet a rock star with a disability who somehow seemed to possess an almost 'god-like' nature whatever that is. I could also feel his compassion and empathy for not only me probably for the whole of mankind to be honest. It was definitely a spine-tingling moment for sure. Have NEVER forgotten meeting the one and only Sir Jeff Healey.

@@russomalley6477 Awesome i really would of loved to have met him he really is a guitar hero to me.
How brilliant did Jeff have to be to learn all the chords in this totally original manner of playing with probably no one to guide him? Profound respect:)
I had the pleasure of watching Jeff up close and personal a few times in Victoria BC Canada. RIP Jeff.
Love Love Love. RIP Jeff.
I miss you Jeff , Thank you for all you did man ! No one plays like you .
Damn, that's a soulful man... At 4:13 all the hair on my back stands up. Even I have an instant urge to stand up from my chair, too. Phenomenal. Blessed. Eternal performance...

why so violent? piss sorry peace men!
RIP Jeff.
Most of us play only with 4 fingers, but this great guy plays with 5 fingers... Really great talent.
An absolute genius! Very sadly missed. Angel eyes was my wedding song.
Amazing... F*&king amazing!
On fire! Love the man.

steven batty - same here bro - saw him at the Regent Theatre in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1991.

I know of a few more solos that can bring that feeling back for you. Check out the covers of Have A Cigar & While My Guitar Gently Weeps by 'The Main Squeeze '. Max is the young guitarist and he is simply from another world. Extremely talented and The Main Squeeze is just the tightest band you will see nowadays.
Great talent and inspiration. I used to watch him at Grosman's. I'd stay into the early hours of the morning listening to him and Pat Rush jam. it was amazing.
He had such an unorthodox way of playing the guitar. Having his thumb available to play notes instead of just holding the back of the neck opens up incredible possibilities. Such an amazing talent!!!!
FANTASTIC! :D
I miss wandering into Healey's bar in Toronto and watching the master.

The best performance of Blue Jean Blues EVER !
Found myself in the audience during a JH 'live' gig many years ago. What a Thrill !!!
because he plays with feeling, from the heart - this is the man's soul on display. blind or not, he wanted to make music. and he did. very well...
I saw this amazing band in the UK (around this time I think) and it was one of the most superb gigs I have been to. His guitar technique and sound was amazing. The three of the mad the Hall jump. RIP Jeff.
This man is truly lived the music...
Jeff your with God and im sure the angles are playing in your band in Heaven... There was only one Jeff Healey... nobody can replace you and your music RIP.... SwB
The most incredible blues playing I've seen save for when Eddie ,Alex and Mike did a blues and Eddie didn't finger tap once! This as great as Eddie was and I've recorded and jammed with the late greatest guy Eddie V.Jeff and E.V.H playing this in HEAVEN
Jeff is A GREAT between the GREAT ONES. It amazing the way he plays, with the strange position of his fingers (also a great bluesman voice) A Virtuoso with all letters. He makes me cry because of the Talent that God gave him, having a condition that makes many other to not dare to do many things, But him is an example for all of us. God Bless him forever
R.I.P Jeff I wish I could have half the talent as you...you are a true inspiration....love you jeff...

still the best version of this song:-)

Indescribable Talent! It is so true only the good die young. You are sorely missed... R.I.P. Love Always!
Life dealt Jeff a heavy blow. Cancer blinded him at the age of about one. Then struck again & killed him with lung cancer in his early forties. Yet it somewhat compensated him as, first a rock/ blues great as both guitarist & vocalist, then later as a jazz afficinado on trumpet. Jeff, because of your great talent, you will never be forgotten.
Jeff Halley is magic
I've started listning to Jeff Healy only recently, I regret not paying attention to Jeff many years ago :-(
