I think what @lyka-cock meant was that this is a Jeff Hanneman memorial and people are chanting Kerry King. Dudes love screaming SLAYER at other peoples concerts, weddings, whatever. It's just fun to yell SLAYER like a maniac. But in this case, it wasn't quite as appropriate. You get a lot of testosterone and thick skull beefy dudes loving to scream Kerry King when they're just being kind of dicks. Show some respect in other words. Kerry is so right when he says he would go out of his way to give an autograph or a picture. I saw Jeff at Oktoberfest in Torrance, CA in 2007. I tapped him on the back and said, "Hey Jeff! Can you take a picture with us?". Jeff took a picture with EVERY SINGLE PERSON in my group. He was fucken awesome, man! I also met Kerry once at a bar in Riverside, CA. Got to shake his hand. Jeff I think was a bit more personable though. RIP!

I played in a metal band in Birmingham, Al. and Slayer came thru town for one show and we got to open for them. One night, one show. This was when Paul Bostaph was filling in on drums. These guys, all of them, were and are the nicest guys you'll ever meet!

A band I played in in Birmingham, Al. finally got to open for Slayer when they had a few off days and were passing thru town and played an impromptu show. This was when Paul Bostaph was drumming but got to meet all of them on their bus and they were and are the nicest guys in the World! Very open, receptive, concerned, caring and understood your plight. I'll never forget their compassion as a fellow musician. Thanks guys ans R.I.P. Jeff, we'll never forget you!!!

I honestly don't think Kerry is aware of the irony when he's talking about how Jeff shaved his head in 1982 and "you can't be metal with a shaved head!" And I'm dead positive he isn't aware of the irony that he's supposed to be telling Jeff Hanneman stories but he's actually telling Kerry Fucking King stories which happen to involve Jeff being there on a tertiary level...

They were all like family. Can't speak for Dave and the other two, but they were all on good terms with Jeff. Hell Tom nearly quit cause he thought it didn't feel right having Slayer without Jeff. Repentless is likely to be the last Slayer album.

I have to agree though Slayer may play loud music, but if somebody speaks for someone who is dead, you should respect and hear what they have to say. You can scream all you want in concerts.

You know somebody lived the right kind of life if their memorial is a huge ass party with everybody attending having a great time and celebrating what they did. That's how I'd like to be remembered when I die. Not with as many people attending, obviously, but with that kind of atmosphere.

You can totally hear he is choking up many times. But he came through and what does he get in return? So called fans bashing him for this and that.

I always enjoy listening to Kerry talk and tell stories. Real down to earth guy.

I understand being a die hard Slayer fan because I am one myself, when I was a teenager I even sliced Slayer in to my leg. But to all those people who claim to love Slayer and say they are their favourite band are fucking liars because nobody who truly loves Slayer would go to Jeff Hanneman's memorial and scream like fucking idiots like that. Kerry King was trying to speak and there's a bunch of people screaming over him. Sure, scream and applaud him when he's taking the stage, not when he's speaking and sharing some time he had with Jeff.

proud to say I saw them live with the classic line up. the most intense musical experience of my life when raining blood dropped in.

Nick Bowcott from Grim Reaper introduced Kerry, was at Dimes funeral/memorial as well.

I don't know if he still has it, but when SLAYER played L'amour Far East (Commack, Long Island) maybe around 1989, my brother (also named Jeff) was right up to the stage as not many people showed up (lame crowd). Hanneman broke a string on his prized Les Paul and he pointed the neck at my brother and had him yank the thing off right in the middle of a song.

Why are people hating on these fans? There just showing how much they love Slayer thats a great honor to his memory.

666777-JFK Saw the Reign In Blood tour and knew Jeff was a monster then, don’t forget Dave Prichard from Armored Saint & Chriss Oliva of Savatage were both monsters of metal guitar, saw RR and Dime many times all of these guys are unfathomable losses the metal world is altered forever because of these losses.

I was at this. Ditched highschool to attend with a bunch of friends haha.

Ive been a fan of slayer since 85 and i noticed around the south of heaven era they started attracting the stupidest fans and it only got worse. Being passionate and acting stupid isnt the same thing. This eulogy is case in point

Depends on someone's point of view. I've been to funerals where someone was obviously crying talking about their loved one and then you got someone's brother that's talking about their good times together. Nothing wrong with it.
