Jeff Buckley - Morning Theft (Live at The Knitting Factory, New York, 1997)
Музыка
Time takes care of the wound
So I can believe
You had so much to give
You thought I couldn't see
Gifts for boot heels to crush
Promises deceived
I had to send it away
To bring us back again
Your eyes and body brighten
Silent waters, deep
Your precious daughter in the
Other room, asleep
A kiss goodnight from every
Stranger that I meet
I had to send it away
To bring us back again
Morning theft
Unpretender left
Ungraceful
True self is what
Brought you here, to me
A place where we can
Accept this love
Friendship battered down by
Useless history
Unexamined failure
But what am I still to you
Some thief who stole from you?
Or, some fool drama queen
Whose chances were few?
That brings us to who we need
A place where we can save
A heart that beats as
Both siphon and reservoir
You're a woman, I'm a calf
You're a window, I'm a knife
We come together
Making chance in the starlight
Meet me tomorrow night
Or any day you want
I have no right to wonder
Just how, or when
You know the meaning fits
There's no relief in this
I miss my beautiful friend
I have to send it away
To bring her back again

doesn't get more heartbreaking, yet hopeful.
Three such distinct parts so beautifully woven together., building love, regret, and resolve. Brilliant.

Awesome description. 👍
I love that someone was able to capture this. This was near the end. It must be before he moved to Memphis to escape NYC. I wish he hadn’t done that.
OMG this guy had a real talent to transmit all his feelings to his listeners, every single song he sings is so deep and emotional.
"I miss my beautiful friend"💜 we miss you Jeff...but your music lives eternally in our heart... ♥️♥️🎵🎶🎙🎸
his best (original) song i.m.h.o...the words...the message in all the layers..the songstructure, everything we hear and everything inbetween
His voice is so safe, well just him really. Seemed like such a nurturing and comforting soul. Miss him like an old friend.
i still miss jeff buckley
Really wish I'd paid more attention to Jeff sooner. :( Heard "Last Goodbye" in '95, but never bought the full album till college several years later. Didn't hear Sketches till much later. So many missed opportunities to see him when I was still in school.

thank you
I've listened to a lot of different music and i've always hated people who makes dead artist bigger than they were or could have potentially been but the more i listen to his music the more i believe his artistry was carefully hand-made by God.

Yep, with Jeff its not hype…all of that praise, his immortal untouchable status and canonization after he passed was well deserved. He was special, he was the real thing. Dear God I miss him. 😩😮💨🥹💐💔

The year he died...
Does anyone know what the line "you're a woman, I'm a calf" signify?

I tattooed this verse and the next on my arm. Jeff had an idyllic view of women. To put it simply, I think he means that the woman he's singing about (Liz Fraser) is much more mature and grown and experienced than him. He's still a child compared to her. Not because of an age gap I would say but for something much deeper and intimate.
Jeff why???

I recognize this name! Are you the Elisa Vieira thats also a fan of Gavin DeGraw & from Brazil? I think I met you in the comments of one of his videos ages ago & I think we're Facebook friends! If so I cannot believe we have such similar taste in music! I absolutely adore Jeff Buckleys music!!
“You’re the woman I’m a cat, you’re a window I’m a knife…” these are the lyrics he was striving to assemble, too bad he didn’t ask me for help, he almost arrived there though …(😝)
