Wow, I am tingling, that was so hauntingly beautiful. I have heard my singers perform Hallelujah but Jeff Buckley ( God Bless Him wherever he went when he left this world) performed better than anyone else iIMO.. I love the caress of the guitar strings with his beautiful vocals melding. Thank you Jeff for sharing your gift with us.

I cannot believe I've never heard this before! I can't believe this version isnt widely known, and played all over the world! No matter if there's a mess up or not, it is an amazing version, if for nothing more than the guitar in the intro. Man! It goes right straight to my heart, and then in to my soul. Maybe stretching it a fuzz . While I absolutely, throughly enjoyed this rendition I don't feel I was conected on an other level , I feel more of a connection on an other level when listening to Rufus Wainwright's version . You have to use his own c'est la vie. Not everyone's heart beats the same . Ones beautiful melody is an others sappy, corny, slow & boring song . I think he does a good job though some of the vocals are a tad overdone I still think it's great . My friends think it sucks . I'm surrounded by Philistines.

@@Mr.CliffysWorld I only recently discovered Jeff. He and I would be about the same age, if he lived. I’ve been listening to Rufus Wainrwright’s versions for years. I am not an aficionado of music , I just like what I like. I think Rufus has a very nasal quality to his voice, a lazy way of singing. In some recordings I think he’s going to fall asleep. Jeff’s voice is crystal clear, he covers octaves with ease, I feel his vocal and guitar embellishments make this song “his”. Each time he sings , it is slightly different and equally beautiful.

Took my breath. He understood that Leonard Cohen wasn’t singing to God on a Sunday morning. He was crying out at 3 am. That time when you wake with dread in your throat.

3am is a time of great prayer. Its a calling only few receive to alone time with God. It’s believed that this was the hour Jesus would pray to our Father. It’s always said He would go off to pray in the early morning!!! I’m blessed (not worthy) to rise at 3am. I cherish every min I get this time with Him. God bless 🕊💜🕊

Mine too…. This many years later… I close my eyes and turn on my headphones… it’s 2024… I was first introduced to him in 1994 living abroad in Australia where he had a serious unheard of (media-spotlight) incredible loyal fan base. The show in Melbourne sold out in minutes… 1000,s of us drove and stood outside the venue to be close, sing along, and it was like nothing I ever experienced… 30 years later to the month even. Just wow. I knew where I was driving, the moment in 1997 his death came over the radio…. I literally pulled my car over in shock & then just cried… What a precious gift🙌🏽🙏🏽

I’m at 30 years to this exact month… literally… laying in bed, eyes closed, headphones on, and still go to this song, these emotions that it evokes, and I always feel like I’ve been closer to angels. God bless him🙌🏽🙏🏽

I always see your comments in videos about Jeff Buckley hahaha :) About your question, I don't know why he stop and repeat the verse, maybe because this version was one of the many takes that he use from the final Hallelujah version. @@themajesticstick5262 Yes I read every word Thankyou! I do know about MK ultra I’ve studied it quite a bit over the years. I can’t believe I didn’t know about him until yesterday! I was blown away and I looked him up and I about cried when I learned he died at 30. But the story doesn’t ring true to me. I immediately thought of the smiley face serial killings, young men targeted and they end up floating in rivers dead. I also thought perhaps he did not go along with the industry ‘requirements’ to move up- the rituals, pedophelia and sacrifices. So. Perhaps they killed him for it. Chris Cornell, Chester Bennington... I’m going to do more investigation about this. Thankyou so much for all you’ve shared with me. RIP Jeff 💔.
