1:24 in the background you can see Jeff shoot up double middle fingers when the hostess mentions his father. Despite them both being musicians his father was actually absent from his childhood.

He's not the best male vocalist ever in my opinion, but he's really, really, fucking good. His vibrato is incredible and super-unique and he's got range for days. Anyway, what I wanted to say is - I've watched this video several times - and his singing is awesome as always, but this time around I was getting completely pissed off about his guitar skills. He's got an awesome right hand.

Jeff is INCREDIBLE. And so are you for featuring this performance. Jeff sang about death a lot, about dying. He explained the meaning of this song as (and I'm paraphrasing) the feeling when you know there's someone that loves you so much, the way it makes you feel, you aren't afraid of anything. Losing Jeff was SO heartbreaking and wrong. He wasn't a heavy drug user at all, not a heavy drinker, not a reckless person, not suicidal. Just a horrific, tragic, gut wrenching accident. Sometimes those happen, and it's no one's fault. Just a horrible set of circumstances happening in the exact wrong way at the exact wrong time, and Jeff just happened to have been there in the middle of it. He decided to go for a swim, spontaneously. A lot of people try to attach nefarious meaning to his decision to swim that evening. It's undeserved. Jeff lived in Memphis. He had swam there before. People get it mixed up and say he tried to swim in the Mississippi River but he didn't, it was a tributary. From what the guy who was there with him said, Jeff was in good spirits. He was signing Led Zeppelin as he swam off. Dude looked away for a second and Jeff was gone. After he was recovered a few days later it was determined there were no drugs or alcohol in his system. It's suspected he got pulled down in a bit of an under current created by a passing boat. When that happens, you're pulled down, and certain infrastructure in an industrial river like the one Jeff was in can create a sorta horizontal funnel, continously spinning and pushing you down. Such a tragedy. I wish I had been old enough to see him but unfortunately I was only a young child and wouldn't discover him until he had been gone for many years.

Love Jeff! I was up late on the loveseat watching a live performance of his while my twin bro slept on the nearby sofa. I tried to be respectful by listening on low volume, but it still managed to wake him up anyway because Jeff was going nuts on the mic! He was a true talent and I will always feel sad about his death even though by the time I heard him he had been dead for years. I'm forever thankful he gave us the music he did while he was here.

Jeff was such a flash of immense unique powerful talent as a singer, guitarist and songwriter. The music he oould have brought - we will never know but it would have been something else...we all missed such a once in a generation treasure - so sad just for him as a person. But it is wonderful to see his transcendent talent hit your channel.

When Jeff passed, the internet was still so new. I was a member of a Ben Folds listsrv and they played hours of Jeff music and interviews on the Australian radio station Triple J. A member of that listserv offered to record it off the radio and mail it to me - in INDIANA. Wouldn't you know, weeks later, I got that tape in the mail. That we felt so strongly about him, to do such selfless acts just to share in the magic, says more about him than anything else I could say in words, probably.

One of the greatest voices ever in my opinion. You are right about the waiting to die line. His father died when he was 9. He had only met him in person once as his dad was always away touring. I think he grew up thinking he will die young like his dad. In fact the circumstances around his death are really strange. Some think he drowned on purpose, others think he didn’t mean to but he also didn’t try to fight it. I don’t suppose anyone will ever know.

Jeff Buckley died at the age of 30 by accidental drowning. He was a scorpio (born on November 17th), and as all Scorpios, he was easily able to embrace the concept of life-and-death, and have no fear about it. His writing provoked thought... he was amazing. His rendition of Leonard Cohen's song Hallelujah is a piece of priceless artwork. kzread.info/dash/bejne/q2x1uaifZ6ink5c.html

Check out Van Morrison's album "Astral Weeks". The song " Sweet Thing" is an all time favorite of mine. But I stumbled upon a cover version done by Jeff Buckley and damn near had an out of body experience. I suggest being excessively high and in the dark. Lol. A rare case of a cover song that blows even the original version out of the water. I suggest listening to the original first. Jeff Buckleys version is a live recording. Insanity. Peace.
