I bought this same Joying 8.8 that you did, largely based on your videos. I just got it installed and everything works but it doesn't output ANY sound at all. Did you have this problem or do you know how to fix it?

Do you think it’s possible to install it under the trim piece instead of on top?

Nice review. I researched this head unit for my jeep, but after looking at the company and some reviews, I didn't want to mess with touchscreens coming from China. I went with a Kenwood HU and am loving it with no problems at half the price.

Thank you! and yeah as I mentioned in the video the LCD is the weakest point of the whole system, however it really performs outstanding, touch screen is responsive and fast overall processing (thanks to the quad core Intel processor). If they could just provide a more reliable LCD it would be great.

Good luck with your Kenwood unit.I am never getting another Kenwood after having their DDX9016DABS unit for a bit over 3.5 years now.The touchscreen is badly built and have had 2 repairs done due to dust getting under the screen and now the 3.5mm av out wont work and the rca's have a heap of static noise.Great general audio quality though but a shame it's build quality is crap.I have just bought one of these,fingers crossed.

Trying to get my XJ looking nice like yours, I live in West Palm Beach FL so I gotta have a nice head unit to go along with my speakers. Any suggestions on how to get my jeep going will be great. Thanks for your vids

Boe I would start with a 3.5”-4.5” long arm lift kit and tires (33-35” if you are going to keep the stock axles) then move on to steering upgrades. That would make it look good already.

I had the same lines in my screen the first time I plugged it in. I received a replacement and so far it's been great, but I'm a little worried about long term reliability.

@@VehicleTribe no clue. It looked delicate so I treated it like a baby. First time I plugged it in it was going back and forth between being okay and getting grey and white ribbons. I also hit the reset button gently and it broke off inside. So it's definitely touchy, but it looks so good! Now I'm just trying to get it to where it will play videos. My KZread (for example) is only audio, even while in park.

I don’t think it’s possible, the screen is so much wider that you would have to cut a lot of plastic to make it fit

I need to fix my Jeep first, there are a couple of things that I need to replace, starting with my front tires (they are almost gone due to bad alignment and me not rotating them)

after watching your first two videos I bought this unit. I had an issue right way as the screen went black and didn't work. I contacted them and they asked me to do a few things and then sent me a new screen. OK - I need to learn more about using it but when it comes to sound quality, I am just sick about it. I bought some infinity speakers for the rear. This is a project car and I have been working on redoing all the interior new carpet, headliner, seats have been cleaned and or repaired, long arm lift kit, and new steering. I am ready to drive and so I put the screen in and it sounds like a tin can - the volume is nothing and the bass is none existent. I wish now I wouldn't have bought it and I can't find anyone to help me figure out what the issue is. For the amount of money spent, I wish I would have gone with a common brand like Pioneer. If adding an amplifier would help I guess I will give it a go and then ad a sub but there must be something wrong. The stock stereo sounded better. I should have waited.

Sorry to hear that. You should definitely ask someone to help you set the parameters, mine sounded a little soft at the beginning but after adjusting some levels I was able to get some decent quality out of it. But as I stated in the video you need an amplifier and maybe even a dedicated sub to get the best out of it.

So i guess the LCD is not designed to stay in the car? The South FL sun will just DESTROY anything you leave out. I'm surprised they would design the screen and not keep in mind the car can get 150+F on a hot summer day.

It took you almost 10 min to tell us the head unit is trash. Got it.

Here's the harsh truth...it's junk. The sound quality is trash. The components they used are cheap as it gets. The capacitors are junk, the signal to noise ratio is no better than cheap factory radios. The pre out voltage can hardly be detected & source signal clips right out the box. If you connect to an amp it would be damn near impossible to gain match and all you'd be doing is amplifying an already distorted signal. Premium brands that offer the same functions, bells and whistles need a double din to do so yet radios such as this managed to fit it into a single din? Use your heads, that's just illogical. Your better off getting a single din Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC or Alpine that has CarPlay and Android Auto and pair it to your phone.

I have to disagree BUT I’m not using the head unit at all just the rca outs to alpine amps my sound is extremely good with high quality speakers

@@3000gtalex Same here. I have already purchased two of these Joying units. 10.1 and the 10.25 widescreen. I definitely dig them and you cannot beat the optical and Coax outputs for audio using a DSP!
