    Any follow up on this mod? Any problems fitting your U-bolts around the axle truss? Any problems with clearance for caliper bolts and the u-bolts. How did you do the parking brake cables? I'm just starting this project myself on my 91 XJ so I'm trying to learn from your experience where I can. Thanks.

    jay vee thanks for the input buddy. I've not been keeping up on videos because I've been working 50+ hours a week. But I'll get a video up soon maybe update video on Frankenstein or something. And I'll see if I can find a donor t case to do a hack and tap install video. But in my honest opinion it's way easier and so much better to just install a true sye kit. I'm running a rugged ridge one and it was only like $150-$200

    Good video. Would it not be better to prime the parts with a weld through primer first

    What did you do about the brakes - distribution tee/block, hard lines, and soft lines?

  • @visionoffroadcustoms6713

    @visionoffroadcustoms6713

    6 жыл бұрын

    Ted Hargiss factory lines and made my own hard line to run from the driver “T” block to passenger soft line and I just ran self tapping bolts through the truss to attach the lines to the differential. I just bought factory lines from rock auto and used my extended brake line drop bracket that allowed ample room for flex. I do want to redo it to all stainless braided lines but I haven’t yet.

    I have this mod on my Jeep XJ. The shop that put it on did not get my leaf springs straight. Every year I have to redo my bushings on my leaf springs that's the only major problem with it. How are your least rings on the XJ using the axle that's 1 in narrower

    Kenneth Beyer my leaf springs are completely fine. The must’ve not got the leaf spring perched welded in the correct position and or not parallel with each other. And I also use leaf spring slider boxes which eliminates the shackles and gives a smoother ride and more travel. You can go to my Facebook page and checkout all of my pictures of my rig on there and if you have any further questions message me on there and I’d be happy to help

    hey boss, when you go ahead with these recommended measurements , does the driveshaft align perfectly to the axle? well in other words does it align straight to the flange?

  • @visionoffroadcustoms6713

    @visionoffroadcustoms6713

    Ezeus R it will line up side to side perfectly as far as the pinion angle goes you can adjust that to your specific application. Which will vary depending on lift size and whether or not you have a SYE Kit. I hope I answered any question you have.

    Vision Offroad Customs thanks a lot sir, any suggestions as far as what degree angle I should use for a 6.5 suspension lift with a SYE kit rolling on 35's.

  • @randyanderson6110
    @randyanderson61104 жыл бұрын

    Question. Doesn't the pinion angle depend on how much of a lift you have?

  • @visionoffroadcustoms6713

    @visionoffroadcustoms6713

    Randy Anderson yes it does you can contact IRO for advice on that or you can put it in your jeep and eye ball it and the check what the angle is with an angle finder 10* just happened to work for me with the 5.5”lift and SYE

    Good job but why you didn't paint under gusset before welding

  • @visionoffroadcustoms6713

    @visionoffroadcustoms6713

    paw crawl Owens wasn’t that worried about it I knew I’d get enough paint inside to keep it from rusting afterwards. I like my weld surfaces to be clean. And paint getting into a weld creates pores.

    Is it safe/recommended to be welding on the axle tubes with the axle shafts installed?

  • @visionoffroadcustoms6713

    @visionoffroadcustoms6713

    7 жыл бұрын

    micvee yes it's safe. I did so because I didn't have a way to be sure the tubes would stay true. Some people use a tube and bolt it at the flange area but my tubes and axle shafts stayed straight and everything on it I have replaced. (Wheel bearings, seals, carrier, ring and pinion, literally everything) so it was fine for me but I made sure to move around when welding and allow time for cooling between welds.

  • @visionoffroadcustoms6713

    micvee also I welded the tubes to the chunk before any of the other welding.

    Vision Offroad Customs Awesome! Thanks for the reply. I am tempted to bring an 8.8 axle home with me every time I go to a salvage yard. So, I figure I should know what I'm getting myself into. It actually seems to be fairly straight forward.

    micvee it's not that hard of a swap if you spend the money and take your time. Follow me on instagram if you wanna see it installed in the truck now. I will have wheeling video up soon. But I'm currently breaking the new gears in. So once that's done she will be on the trails.

    this guy welds while his dogs watching, even if your eyes are close the uvb rays will burn eyeballs, i only hope the poor ole pup wasnt flash burned, also there is no safe distance to watch a welding arc. so many producers dont even take basic saftey into account while attempting to become stars on the you tube, i couldnt watch any more and have blocked all this persons videos due to animal abuse
