YESSS! I had already replaced the windshield seal, still water. Watched your video, stepped outside and fixed the drain tube, 5 minutes. I've owned yjs for 23 years, this problem started on a yj I bought two years ago. Two years of a wet right foot after it rains (I live in FL, so we get rain). Drive to work with one dress shoe and 1 flip flop. Thanks!

Thank you for this video! I've been trying to hunt down my leak for a while. Every time it rains (especially during a downpour) it starts to rain from underneath my dashboard too ha ha. I'm going to use your process to hunt down exactly where it's coming from. I did replace the windshield cowl seal, but that didn't stop the leak. The strange thing is that my leak is really bad for the first 20 minutes or so then it slows down substantially. This video is has motivated me to take up the hunt for the leak again. Thanks man!!!

Great video! Just subscribed. Mine was the cowl drain tube with the crimped end. Used a heavy pair of construction scissors to lop off the end and the water gushed out. Sediment had it all plugged up. BTW, there is some other overflow tube under the battery on my 92 YJ. Not sure what that drains but it was flowing freely as I flooded the cowl.

Thanks for this one! I've had the same leak behind my dash dripping on my feet since I got my YJ. I checked the hood and the windshield seal but never thought about my soft top channel. I hope this fixes it!

thanks again Chuck! You are correct about using body caulking to fill the seam. I used marine grade silicone (Walmart) and some painters tape for a clean line to fill the seam. You can't hardly see it and after a couple years it hasn't yellowed in our blazing sun. It stopped the water intrusion. I don't plan on painting my YJ anytime soon.

When I eventually paint mine its going to be with bed liner. So, that should stop any of the body seam leaks!! LOL

I have a leak right under my passenger side dash it literally drips down on my passengers feet. I have no idea where it’s coming from so now I know how to check! Thanks!!!

Good video man. Two questions. What type of gasket material did you use for the soft top rail? Curious about your mirror mounts, where did you find them?

So I’m tackling down the same issue.. I bought the sealer white to match the other white sealer it was in the Jeep, hopefully it will work and hopefully it goes away when I do the door surround in padding and hopefully the windshield rail in nutsert

Great video. Mine was leaking same place as yours at the tube and cowl line, but only when I washed it because it hardly ever rains here 😭

I was really expecting it to leak at the windshield frame gasket. The cowl line didnt surprise me though with all the body caulking cracked. Glad you like the video! Thanks for dropping in again! Have a great day!!

I have leaks on the seems just like you. But my biggest leak is from under dash. I noticed on my rig that water builds up right by my windshield wiper motor. I can feel a puddle after rain and when wash the jeep. Have no clue how to fix. I really don't want to drill a hole at lowest point of windshield frame where tje door shuts to drain when water intrusion?

Hey, great video, but what kind of gasket do you use on top of the windshield frame? I have wet, and I mean soaking wet feet every time it rains, I have done everything but searched there, that's all that's left, that must be it. I make a right hand turn, the water comes out in buckets, so I need to know what it is that you are using for a gasket on top of the window frame. Thanks, Dave from Oklahoma.

Its the storm door gasket material that's sticky on one side. It's about 3/8" wide and about 1/4" or less thick. I put a link down in the video notes to the video where I repaired the soft top channel. Glad you liked the video!! Good luck and have a great day!!

Did you make the video to repair the body caulk? I have that same leak, not sure the best way to repair it. Do the body panels need to be separated, or can caulk be applied while the panels are still assembled tightly?

I haven't fixed anything yet. It's still leaking. No you don't separate the body panels. Clean out all the old caulking, then apply new.

Does anyone know where I can get a cap for the 5/8 size windshield reveal, not the original 1/2", cause somebody stole mine! And I'm trying to find out what size bolts I need for the two rubber bumpers that go under the hood if anyone knows. Found out a week ago, that my accelerator cable was not using my throttle body the way it should on a 90 2.5. It was using a 1/4 of it and had to step all the way down on the gas pedal and wait for it to speed up. I cut a pice of rubber a 1/2" and put it between where the spring locks in at the pedal and "wahlah", throttle body actually works right and the pedal depression actually accelerates the speed the way it should and rpms didn't rise when at idle. Way more torque and acceleration!!!

Some foam gasket material I got from Lowes. It was like 1/2" thick x 3/8" thick if I remember right.

What would I use to seal that body seam, that could be painted in the future?

As I mentioned in the video, all Im gonna use is automotive body caulk. Paint is too expensive and too much prep work to take short cuts. Thanks for checkin out the vid! Have a great day!!

Honestly, I dont. I just havent gotten around to swapping them out and putting the Hella lens back in. Those LED headlights I have installed in this video are terrible at controlling the light pattern. They are bright but lousy light control.

Help. I getting water on passenger side floor. It's coming from the windshield sprayer. Doesn't go to spray nozzles. It's not connected. How do you find this hose connector?

Good question. Don’t know if you ever managed to get to them but I took the screws out and dabbed some silicone under and put screws back in.

They are old rigs. A person can minimized the leaks, but your not going to stop them all. Have a good one man!
