I built my 99 for my son. 37s with 5:13s and its fine. we went to 39s and we need way more gear. 4.5" metalcloak lift. 30 up front, 44 rear. Used metal cloak shocks, their basic red ones. Jeep drives flawlessly.

Yeah the 37-38 range is all I’d want to run on any gear ratio in a TJ without upgrading to a 4:1 or greater case

There’s a spray paint called steel-it that can be applied directly to raw metal. I think it comes in a satin finish and is supposed to be super durable. That might be a good option for the bumper in the future. A huge plus is that you can touch up any bumps and bruises you get

You talked about the roll bar but not the cover, where did you get the padding cover for the rear and around the upper sound pods? I didn't install the rear bar on my kit yet becausei didn't want to cut the cover and my overhead wrap is just hanging because I didn't want to cut it until I had more time to think it thru. Great video

Hey man, I appreciate your support (comment) recently on my little channel "jeepNdirt" where I highlighted my dad's basic "everyday TJ" build on 33's for those on a budget. That said, I'm an old school guy from the YJ world who added a built JLUR to my world as seen on a couple of my videos and really learned alot about the geometry of coil springs set up's. That said, in completing my dads jeep (who now wants me to make it look like yours, lol!) I battled the front end "woe's" of the the short wheel base TJ's and got nice balance between castor and drive line angle. Now that's on 33's and an actual lift height of 4.2 inches but I'm curious about the following on your jeep: 1. What castor are you running? 2.Do you not get what I call "suspension steer" when traveling on the road, (i.e. low and high spots that make the jeep feel like it sort of moves side to side back to front in a subtle way) from the severe angles of both your control arms and Track bar up front? 3. What's your actual wheel travel in inches? 4. Does the front roll bar interfere with being able to roll up / down the windows? 5. Do you really realize how GREAT that color is on your jeep. Lol. Absolutely my favorite color in the TJ and actually the LJ which I'd love build if I can ever find a good deal on one. I'm a simply color scheme kinda guy. My JLUR (as seen on my channel) is simply Granite Crystal metallic with black fenders and a few red highlights. I absolutely love your scheme as well. The Khackie and black with only a couple silver highlights is really really nice. I'll also point out that although I'm running a different manufacturer (LoD) on my Rocker guards and rear bumper tire carrier, I do agree with you 100% that the integrated tire carrier is the way to go. Mine is absolutely 1000% noise free and so easy to open. My JLUR is a daily driver so it get's frequent use. I'll also point out that although a little on the pricey side, the Bartac stuff is top notch. My JLUR has had them on the seats since 2020 and there's no fading, sagging, stretching, or anything. I don't have all my molly loops used, but I do have many of them occupied with bags, pouches, radio's, E50 fire extinguisher stick, etc. and all are in good shape. Hope to see you at Stoney lonesome some time. Planning on taking both my JL and YJ out there with a friend who's looking to break in his teenage son in his "new to him built YJ". Good stuff man, good stuff.

Thanks for the comment man and keep making videos! I’m unsure of my full suspension travel measurement. However I am running +/- 6 degrees of caster up front, the cage does not at all interfere with the windows being rolled up/down, and yes with a short arm of this height and a dual track bar set up you’ll have a slight amount of bump steer on major dips in the road. It isn’t bad enough where it’s worth worrying about on mine though. Get a high quality lift kit and adjustable track bars, and you can get it pretty dialed in.

@@_everydayoffroad_ Yeah. That's what I Did on his. I was able to get 6.9 on his castor and it really rides like a sports car in the road. I'm really pleased with how it came out but I told him if he wants it to be like yours then we gotta do it right the first time which means I'll have to change the name of the next video to the "Not Budget" build TJ. Lol.

In the rear have you had to cut the tub any for the 35s and then the 37s? Do you know how much shock travel you have up/down in the front and rear? I have the 3.5” superflex short arm kit on my LJ Rubicon and thinking if i can fit 37s with a highline i may do that or a 1”ish body lift and all that goes with that.
@_everydayoffroad_
Жыл бұрын
35’s didn’t rub at all. The 37’s rub slightly in the rear but with the highlines no rubbing up front. With a 3.5” and 1” body lift you’d be fine on either size with highline fronts. I’m unsure of my full travel length, never have measured it.

@_everydayoffroad_ thanks for the response. Wow those rears look good. I really like your wheel and tire combo. Do you drive on the street a lot? How did they balance with the beads? Is that offset and spacer perfect or could you go like a -12 offset and be fine you think since you added spacers.
@_everydayoffroad_
10 ай бұрын
@@user-rh1sn2vq8z I had bad luck with the balance beads. Actually ended up vacuuming them out and taking my tires up to the local offroad shop to have them balanced traditionally. Now they ride smooth as glass, but I don't drive very much on the street. You could definitely run less offset with having the adapters, but the -38mm offset is pretty standard for most beadlocks.
