Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I bought this hoist last year and mounted the 2x6's to the ceiling but I never assembled the ropes and pulleys because the factory instructions weren't very good and winter time made me decide to leave the top in place. Now Spring is approaching and I'm ready to finish the job.

The only comment I have for others coming to this video in the future is that there are 8 bolts holding the hardtop to the Jeep. Six in the back and two more under where the Freedom Panels are. (In case someone isn't aware and starts hoisting the top and struggles!)

Hey man, awesome awesome video - I'm looking to do this same style for my roof-top tent off my truck . I was wondering - Is there a risk, or concern, with mounting this closer to your garage door? Ie. ABOVE the garage door (so, if the garage door is OPEN you would not be able to access/ lower the object.) But, I'm hoping so I can pull forwards into my garage - close door - then lower tent onto bed. I don't want to put the tent at the 'back' of the garage as then it's going to be in our way of other things.

Can you close the glass?

Sorry late reply. It was a generic lazer level by tacklife on amazon.. not sure its still avail. Id recommend the one by Klein tools.. $150 but solid

Your video was very helpful with my install of the hoist. I’m struggling with getting it level. I tried adjusting straps and knots but the hoist lifts the front first. Any suggestions? Thanks!

If it lifts the front first i would suggest adjusting your front knots where it ties onto the strap. Lower the knots in the front on both sides so that They're closer to the ground. That should give you more slack in the front allowing the back to engage at the same time when you're hoisting it up.

@@Doccraw when its hoisted up it has a slight rake upwards in the front on mine, but doesnt bother me.. actually makes it easier when bringing it down so the rear touches first. Makes it easier to line up the pins in front

What laser device did you use?

How tall are your ceilings?

I’m not a “handy” guy. I happen to have some 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 boards lying around. Could that work ?

I'm not sure. Instruction say 2x4. I would go with the thicker wood to make sure its snug and the screw eyes have more meat to hold it in place. If its a really strong wood then maybe you can get away with it. A couple pieces of lumber will only run you $20 bucks so maybe better safe than sorry.

Instructions say 2x6 but others have said they used 2x4”. I’m installing mine this weekend using 2x6…. Not risking a dropped top

What happened if you install without the wood? I mean my garage wall is pretty solid concrete 🫤how does wood hold it better? Sry if it’s a silly question

Solid. No issues or problems. Ended up selling the wrangler last week. But the hoist was fantastic

@@BillyOnroad was more like $2500 for me after selling my hardtop (textured) for $1500. It’s warmer and quieter so I’m never going back.
