Jeep Overland Adventure - Oregon Eastern Desert Pt 2 - Old Stage Stop, Dry Lakes, Amazing Landscapes
Jeep Overland Adventure - Oregon Eastern Desert Pt 2 - Old Stage Stop, Dry Lakes, Amazing Landscapes
Thanks for joining Coyote Works for another Jeep Overland Style Car Camping adventure.
Stone ruins, epic camp site, miles of untravelled off road trails... This trip has a little bit of almost everything I live for in an overland style off road car camping adventure.
In this trip I cover over 100 miles off road in one of the most remote corners of the Oregon South Eastern Desert in my Jeep Rubicon. Had a couple of amazing rooftop tent camping sites, good camp cooking, incredible desert landscapes and got to explore some more of Oregon.
In part 2 I travel across some more amazing desert landscape to arrive in another great basing where I camp and explore. Another epic campsite, a few artifacts, and then some more miles of off road trails to cross the glacier carved Sheepshead Mountains. Finally I make it to the historic ruins of an old stage stop I've had on my list to find for years.
Hope you all enjoy!
Cheers,
Casey

I would dispute the concept of waiting till you are old to enjoy a nap, and a slower pace. When I was much younger, I didn't slow down to taking a slow leisurely trip to firmly implant the scenery that I had seen, and enjoyed. Rushing around take a photo to supplant a memory, then moving on to the next photo and brief memory. I wish, now at 70 ... that I had napped and relaxed more ... as at my age one never knows when you might not wake up from the next nap ....

quite a few years ago I agreed to go to a convention several states away but the host insisted we leave early to hit all the highlights along the way, this was my first non direct trip and changed how I look at travel, slow and easy from now on when possible.

I ENVY YOU. I WAS OUT IN THIS COUNTRY MANY TIMES HALF A CENTURY AGO. UNFORTUNATELY TIME HAS CAUGHT UP WITH ME AND MY JEEPING DAYS ARE OVER. MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT. ‘REMEMBER MAN AS YOU PASS BY, AS YOU ARE NOW SO ONCE WAS I.’
Great video Casey... With all the crap going this motivates me to start packing up my Jeep.. Thank you.. 👍🇺🇸

I got home Sunday, flipped the tv on and saw something was going on. I asked my wife, what's all that about. She said "oh you didn't hear?!" Nope, I was in the mountains. I flipped over to KZread and watched this instead. My Jeep is still packed up.
That wind is what makes camping out there an adventure, I don't know how many times I have been laying there in freezing wind wondering if my tent was going to split in half as it flexes against my cot but the calm morning always causes me to forgive her for her moodiness and I keep coming back...
You exactly right about the food
So very much enjoyed being on this trip with you.
Wow. The views on this trip where absolutely insane. The vastness of the landscape was incredible. 👍👍👍.

It is amazing country out there. Very few places left where you can travel those kinds of distances in solitude. And with breathtaking views virtually every step of the way. Cheers!
I've said this before on other videos but I'm always amazed at how remote you can get in Oregon!!! Awesome!!!

It is true that we have a lot more really remote land area here than many people realize. Most people think of Oregon as the Cascade Mountains and the areas west of there. But the area of the state east of the cascades is by far the largest part of the state and has the lowest population. Cheers!

@@CoyoteWorks01 I read that 60% of Oregon is fed land now. That's a lot of wide open country.
Looking at the vast open deserts I dont think there is enough sky to cover it... just beautiful.
It's nice seeing someone go out and enjoy the world 😊
Another terrific video. Thank you. Wonderful country.

Okay, okay...I'm late, I know. Your dry lake (which I will not name for preservation's sake) is about 100 miles west of me. Haven't been there in many years, but this makes me want to go over there again. I suppose I'd better do it sooner rather than later as time is starting to catch up to me. Thanks for making me get up and go, Casey.. Hope to see you out there sometime (maybe at this year's Coyote Works group trip)!

I love old mates adventures but I’m not sure about the dressing up and playing modern cowboy/militia thing people have going on at the moment. I imagine all those hours of tactical training would have helped him defend his life and liberty against a squirrel or whatever was pissed off at him kicking it’s house. Maybe it was that rabbit from Monty python.

@@Alan.livingston I get the feeling he has an aversion to snakes and thought for a second there might be one in there...there are other things out there you wouldn't want to surprise as well. Badger using the barrel as a safe spot above its den...would be happy to defend its home from a human.

I absolutely love this. The huge open spaces are spectacular. I’m from Sussex in the U.K. & we simply don’t have these spaces where you can loose yourself for a few day. Loving all the equipment you are carrying in the jeep too. Stay safe, God bless & thank you.

24:14 Absolutely beautiful. You have the right attitude, at 72 I'm not stopping or giving up yet but the pace is definitely slower, do it while you can. I have explored back country, hunted and fished, hiked , slept on the ground from the Mexican border to the Canadian border and a little ways into each, and I still wish I had done more. Keep adventuring, do it for those that can't. We all love your videos, hope to cross trail one day.

There is something hauntingly beautiful about the desert. I have spent quite some time in the northern Nevada desert bordering the southern border of Oregon (Sheldon Wildlife Refuge Area) for one. Used to hunt chucker up that way for several years. So quiet you can hear a pin drop. Amazing country. Thanks for sharing another great video!

I love watching your videos. Especially those of Eastern Oregon. That is the area where I grew up (as I have said before) and spend many days riding and camping all over that country with a couple of friends of mine. Really great to be able to ride with you. I live a long way from Oregon and will probably never again have the opportunity to relive that part of my younger years except by riding with you. Keep up the great videos.
