Like many of you out there with a Jeep JL Wrangler, built up or stock, we developed a bit of wobble in our steering. It's one that mainly occurred when it's cold out and when driving over uneven pavement or hitting something like a pot hole with just one tire. Now, I should point out that what we've been feeling is FAR from being the infamous "death wobble", the violent and uncontrollable shaking of the entire Jeep and to the point where you can only stop it by bringing your Jeep to a stop. However, I can totally see how someone new to Jeeps might confuse it as being death wobble especially being that it does feel like the beginnings of it. Because a loose bolt or worn out track bar bushing is typically the cause something like this, that's where we decided to start focusing our attention. In this episode of the JL JOURNAL, you'll get to see what the wobble we had looked like and how we were able to work most of it out, if not all of it, simply by installing a new Rancho rockGEAR adjustable front track bar. We hope you find the information in this video to be useful.
I should note that we are by no means suggesting that the source of our steering wobble will be the same for everyone or that installing a Rancho adjustable front track bar will fix whatever you are feeling. This video was made simply to show what we had experienced, what we had tried and ultimately, what got things fixed for us.

Typical WAYALIFE video.....informative, well shot, easy to understand, not full of clickbait garbage, and no nonsense. Keep on keepin on guys, best jeep content by far.

What I have also found that really helps with all those wobbles is to replace all the stock metric bolts in the entire suspension with 9/16" dia bolts that have an actual shank. All the holes are actually sized for a 9/16" bolt, but for some reason Jeep goes with an ever so slightly smaller metric diameter that allow for too much wiggle. Those metric bolts are also fully threaded. The fully threaded bolts cut into your inner races on the rod ends causing early wear. By using a 9/16" dia. bolt with a full shank you eliminate both of those issues.

Of course its going to be better - it's brand new and everything is tight. Let it break in for a few months and see how it compares then.

Just puzzle, why spend so much on a Wrangler and have to deal with all kind of issue yourself? Sound like buying a used car need to be fix later.

The root cause of bump steer shimmy is always loose bushing, can be track bar bushing or drag link bushing or both. Stiff steering stabilizer will help "grip" the bushing, therefore prolong the life of factory steering components, however will not solve the root cause.

    That’s not a wobble. That’s a shimmy

I've had a great experience so far with my Steersmarts Yeti track bar. Waiting on the rear to be developed. Yeti plus Synergy sector shaft brace are a great combo.

I appreciate you showing us this. I'm in the middle of my Jeep dealer going after this problem. They've ordered a new drag link. I told them if that doesn't cure it, I'm putting this Rancho track bar on it. Heck, I'm going to do it anyway. Thanks again!

I luv the comparison of the RC vs. the Rancho brand track bars. I bet most people would think nothing was gonna change as they were both aftermarket track bars, but imho You show us viewers that the little things Do Count and Can possibly change alot, as in this case. Great Video! Keep them Coming, Thankyou Again👌🍻🙏
