I did my last week and I didn’t think mine was really bad at all. It makes a huge difference and tightens it up a lot. For the ones who are being refused find a new dealer or contact Jeep wave and open a case. NO WHERE in the TSB does it state a inspection has to be done. It also has no build dates listed there for it effects ALL 18-20 JL’s and JT’s. All that being said dealers can only order 1 in every 14 days as of today when I checked to see if we could order more. The 2-doors, 4-doors and Gladiators are all different. Also if your dealer tries to say well Jeep gave us guidelines to follow tell them stop bs’ing you. I am my dealers lead tech and my mangers right hand man so I know what’s going on. Usually I know before he does.

Good to know. Mine is 2 yrs old w/22k miles on it and they're replacing my steering gearbox, along w/another steering stabilizer, 2 tie rod ends and 4 tires that almost bald on one side of each tire. Not mention the paint is rusting right through every panel. Now, I have to go through all this red tape and implement the lemon law in Connecticut. Wish Jeep would get it together.

Hi, I am experiencing the death wobble on my 2020 jeep wrangler with 6k miles on it when I drive in the freeway at 70+ took the car to the dealer who had it for 3 days. According to them they were not able to replicate the wobble after driving it 33 miles. I been recording the issue and asked them if the recordings would be enough evidence to fix the problem which they replied no, I also offer to take one of the tech for a test drive and they told no because they can drive past 65mph as is a safety concern for the staff. How can I get them to fix my car.

I can't wait to get this done on my JT Rubicon. I've actually been actively avoiding the highways here in Orlando since I bought it back in February. Luckily, I've been working at home since March, so haven't had to drive anywhere on the highways very often, but when I did, with all the construction barricades and such around here (I-4 construction will never be complete, I swear), the loosey-goosey steering has made me white knuckle the wheel in most cases.

I have a 2018 JLUR (early build). It wasnt as bad as many I’ve heard of but still hid slight play (no death wobble). It was a constant battle to keep in in my lane esp on a rough, unlevel back road. Lifted it 2 1/2 and added 37’s. I was surprised that it didnt make it worse. Still no death wobble.... Had the steering box replace this week and see a huge improvement. Steering wheel has more feel. It seems heavier feeling and no play at all in the wheel. Havent driven it much but plan on getting it out on one of the roads where it was bad in a day or two. To see how it does.

FYI my earlier post from 2 mo ago and 2021’s - just checked and my 2021 2DrJL Rubicon (Built Date 08-20) definitely has the black painted steering gear box with steel bolts. The steering box has a bar code sticker showing: (S) 43893, (P) 68507571AA, (I) MW50057, (R) 032 and 2020-08-13 date. Hope this helps someone. Only upgrade was 35’s installed on ICON 17x8.5 wheels with NO lift (so far). Steering seems tight with NO wander or wobble.

I feel you there, I bought my JT Rubicon and February, and only have 1500 miles on it now, since I started working from home in March because of c19, but when I do drive it, i'm white knuckle on the wheel, especially if I have to drive down the highway with the construction barricades all over the place. The lanes feel narrow enough without worrying about drifting side to said in my lane...

First of all, it is not a recall, so whether you can receive it or not really depends on the mercy of your dealership. You can't do this by yourself even if you purchase the box, because the installation involves ECM flashing, only dealer has the equipment. Second, this does not necessarily fix death wobble, which is a complex issue involving several components. The new box however will get rid of dead spot in steering wheel as well as tighten up the steering. Combine this with proper caster, right geometry, track bar frame reinforcement, stronger draglink, tierod, and trackbar, better steering stabilizer, it will get rid of 99% of death wobble though.

After they took it for a test drive they came back and said "sir we ordered you a new steering box." I get it done in 2 weeks. I have a 2.5" lift and 35s and they never even said anything about it.

Exactly, my first/last Jeep, 2018 Sahara JL had death wobble at 2,500 miles, the dealer and Jeep Wave denied it until the tech at the dealer duplicated it. Within a month the dealer had 35 owners on a list, still Jeep denied it. Meanwhile, during my first year of ownership I could/would not take people in the car with me. Unless you have experienced death wobble at 70 MPH with 3 passengers, you have no idea what it means. I had to have the recall work down twice, and it finally reached an acceptable level 14 months into my ownership, just in time to welcome my new friend galvanic corrosion. The Jeep has been traded in on a 4Runner. Jeep / Junk.

@@shannonzittlow8462 Yes, I never EVER put the rear window in the Jeep. I love the open air (I have/had the soft top). Now, with the 4Runner I will be able to close it easily when it rains. What year/model Jeep did you trade?

Still only a bandaid for the Jeep Death Wobble. Specifically the OEM Mopar 2in lift kit which comes with no adjustable track bar or control arms and many cheaper kits come this way also. Have to Just Empty Every Pocket and do it right 0lllllll0 It's a Jeep thing

@Omer Farooq HD Tir rod and drag links fixed mine. I also have a 3.5 inch lift so I have adjustable lower control arms and adjustable front track bar, but the HD rod and links took it out completely

give jeep propes!!!!!!!!!!!! they are the problem.... i have been driving a jeep since the 90s i'm actualy disabled cause JEEP has safty issues. YET im still driving a jeep wrangler.... I try to avoid parts made in the USA as usually they are faulty or made to low quality standards in the last 10-15 years.

A $60k plus jeep Jl shouldn’t have steering issues at 40k miles just outta warranty. Jeep should recall & fix this dangerous steering issue free to their customers. Tired of spending big bucks on junk!

All steel gear box & bolts, not aluminum, cool straight from factory not wear, not alignment, fix & Ram makes a similar identical steering unit that is 30% larger than jeeps. That is the way to real fix the problem for good, & if u up size tires u r still good. I God Want The Ram Steering box On All Bronze Rubicons & up that come down the line. Lowest model allowed to b made of ppl car. When it comes to steering & the reputation of the brand Jeep & God will hve to cover r ass NOW & over Kill it & make it right at the extreme load range & hard working it over time.
