Doing the WJ front brakes after that. Getting my XJ in great working order before I make her look pretty; clear coat oxidation, faded paint, 3 colors thanks to JY body parts. I have removed 100's of the rear discs from ZJs & KJs. You need the specialty e brake cable tool for the KJ but a 13mm will work on the ZJ. Discount the e brake cable from the backing plate & slip the boxed in part over the end & spring. Then just work it out. Bring a 13mm ratchet wrench. It tackles alot of bolts used. I highly suggest a electric impact. My best time was 30 minutes to remove a complete set. I've only broken 5 or 6 of the center bolts. All of them have been 5/16 or 1/4.

You say grab the wiring to retain your ABS. I have a 99 XJ with a Dana 35 with ABS already. Do I need to take any of the ABS stuff from the Grand Cherokee? I got near-perfect backing plates with 4 bolts behind them off a 97 Grand at the junkyard and brand-new calibers off a 95 (same junkyard) this past week. I need to go back to see about getting the lug bolts and as far as the portioning valve, I only need the spring right? Forgot that part too. Remember how crusty your metal pieces were for the parking brake? These are still shiny metal and no rust on either backing plate. Feel blessed.

Dana 44a rear discs will work on the Dana 35 as well, I am not 100% sure but you may need to grind out the center on the 44 for an 8.25 too. I did the swap on my 98 TJ years ago using the 44a brackets on my turdy5. thanks for watching brother 💪. yes you need the proportioning valve from a ZJ with rear disk brakes for your conversion. drum brakes have a proportioning valve that sends more fluid to the rear brakes... so if you don't change it, your new rear brakes will get too much brake fluid and they will lock up on you and make the vehicle skid.

Number ☝️ gas tank is full I know the carburetor problems I had with my lawnmower can’t imagine what The 🌽 gas is going to be like do I have to drain it or is there some kind of magic 🧪 ?? #2. I’ve never done breaks before but I think it needs new front pads. I stopped driving it as soon as it started grinding. So how hard is the job and please don’t assume just because I can’t spell or formulate a complete sentences doesn’t necessarily mean I can’t turn a 🔧. I appreciate any help you can give me in this manner. Please be nice sensitive guy. Thanks 🙏

Hey Brother! Thanks for reaching out. I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Hel be very proud of you when you get the brakes up an running. XJ brakes are very easy, theres probably a million vids on KZread to learn from. Im sure you'll do great. theres also "dry gas" and bunch of other additives to treat the bad gas, but try to top it off with fresh stuff as soon as you can. good luck man!

No, they're very different, they're also low pinion fronts which aren't as good and Dana 35 rears which are definitely worse than a c 8.25

If you had ABS and wanted to keep Your XJ ABS you would need to add an ABS tone ring onto your axles. You would also have to get ZJ ABS Wires and notch out the axle mounting surface to accept Disc ABS as the Drum ABS mounts differently.

I have a ZJ that i am trying to figure out what rear end is in it cause i wanted to do brakes and there are so many choices. It has drum brakes in the rear. Can you suggest a good place to look for markings or tags that would be on the jeep that would tell me what rear end is in the jeep? Any help would be most appreciated, i don't trust what the auto parts stores say it is.
