Hope your staying dry, the only good thing about all this rain is I found three leaks in Jeep. Two at the firewall on each side and the third I haven't found exactly yet but have the area. Your getting closer to riding!

Ed Jernigan I was surprised at how many holes (not rust) were in my firewall. We filled them in w weld when I had the firewall painted so hopefully I won’t have any issues. Getting closer but still have to rewire the whole Jeep! I still think I’m a month or two out. Thanks for the update.

I have a hard top and doors on mine in the winter. It will be coming off next month. I never liked a soft top .but summer just a bikini top and no doors best way to ride . A grind of mine gave me that hard top and doors two years ago and they’re just in my way don’t need two sets have a good one jd all the best luck to you man

That's awesome. I don't drive my Jeep much in the winter because of the soft top. I hate the way it looks on the Jeep and it sure doesn't provide much insulation. Send me some pics of what you have at JD_Offline@yahoo.com.

Jd I also had them rebuild my Dana 300 . So just like you with the new stuff they sent me to hook it all back up it was a lot different that same bolt at the shifter I had to make shorter and I had to grind some material where the bolt was hitting other than that it went back together just fine . And my transmission is a ford sm435 four speed with a granny first gear they rebuilt as well.can’t wait till you get them headers get that beast put together and pray all goes well with no problems but at least you are on the down side and you know it want be long when that motor is setting in the mounts.good luck jd hope all goes well and be safe

JD Offline no sir they do the best work and not trying to sound cheap but all the money I had to give them I feel like it should fly like a plane lol I know I don’t have to tell you that . I’ve had my Jeep on the road a little over a year now and far as my transmission and transfer case not one problem except that bolt and the clearance nothing a welder and a side grinder didn’t fix can’t wait to see you on the road with that great looking Jeep all you will have worry about is people every time you stop somewhere them wanting to know do you want to sell it lol good luck jd . Ps I’ve got a extra hard top and doors for that Jeep have a good one jd

Hey JD! First, let me tell you that my friend and I have relied a lot on your videos more than any other channel for our 350 CJ swap. Thanks for all of the great content! We’ve just mated our AX15 to the Dana 300 transfer case. We used Advance Adapters or the sole reason that we didn’t have a bellhousing and rather than get an adapter for a stock 350 bellhousing from Novak, Advance had a bellhousing that mated directly to the AX15. The adapter from the AX15 to the Dana 300 seems like a similar one, if not the same. While test fitting the drivetrain today we ran into the same challenge you seem to have had - if the AX 15 shifter sits centered in its hole in the tub, the Dana shifter rubs against it’s hole in the tub and seems to interfere with the AX’s shifter. I’m thinking that if we rotate the Dana clockwise a stud hole on the adapter that might eliminate the issue. Before we unbolt the Dana off the AX and move the stud placements in the adapter I was curious how you went about fixing the issue. Like you said - lots to learn and enjoying the process. However, if you’ve already learned it I’d rather get the knowledge from you rather that a couple of hours taking this thing apart, reconnecting, and test fitting again ;-). Thanks!

Thanks Michael for that feedback, I always enjoy hearing that my videos are helpful. I ended up cutting my shifter in two different places. I didn't cut it all the way through but took two small wedges out of it where I thought I needed to bend it to align and then went through a series of test fits bending the shifter, spot welding it, testing etc. until I finally got it right. I didn't film it because it was a frustrating couple of hours going down to the basement to tack it up back upstairs to the Jeep to test fit, etc. Anyway, once I got it right, I welded her all up and repainted the shifter and it worked well! Hope this helps and again really appreciate the feedback. Good luck with your conversion, it is so worth it in the end! JD

Just came across this video. Thanks for sharing. One thing they wasn’t clear, as I’m about to mate all the components of my drive train with the same pieces (SBC, AX15, Dana 300), is if you have to do anything else to the T-case other than install the ring. I have the Novak kit as well and it came with a seal that I’m not sure what for and their site mentioned having to possibly replace the input shaft. Can you shed some light on this? Thanks.

You will love this set up!! This goes back a little bit but I remember having to change the output yoke on the transfer case to match up with the driveshaft/universal joints etc. It was a fairly quick operation. Sorry that's all I can recall, I know I got it from Novak so they should be able to shed more light on this. Thanks and good luck with your build. JD

@@JDOffline I'm planning to install a VW TDI + AX15 + D300 in my long nose CJ5 with the D300 staying in its oem location. The question is do I have enough space to squeeze in the TDI and AX15 between the front grill and the D300.... Knowing the length of the AX15 with 4.0L bellhousing is all I need.

I just bought a CJ7 with a Dana 300 with a twin stick and I'm a little bit confused. I'm not sure exactly how the shifters operate. I initially thought one stick was for high and low, and one stick was for in and out of 4 wheel drive. But now I'm not sure if it's that or one stick is for rear output and the other is for the front output. Did they have both configurations? or which one should mine be? Also the left stick grinds quite a bit when I try and pull it back to what I'm assuming is high range? I actually have to shut the Jeep off to shift it in. Anyway any information you could give would be great thank you

Hey Gurn. Let me say I don't have a lot of experience with twin stick shifters but let me tell you what I know and make a recommendation if I can. I believe there are two types of twin stick shifters. One type of twin stick is as you initially describe with one stick controlling 4H, N, 4L for both axles and the other controlling in and out of 4wd. The other type is where each stick controls 4H, N, 4L for each axle so each axle can act independently of each other. This is the preferred set up for off road as you can manipulate your axles to adjust to the terrain you are on, etc. That said, my recommendation is to contact Novak Conversions and lean on their tech support for some wisdom. I purchased my dana 300 from them and opted to stick with the single stick shifter. Sounds like your 300 has some issues and I know they sell a master rebuild kit. There's another youtube channel called "UCanDoIt2" and Mike walks through a 3 video series on the rebuild of the 300 that is very thorough. I wish I would have seen his videos before I purchased mine!! Hope this helps, I'm not saying buy from Novak but let me tell you, those guys helped me out through my whole conversion. Hope this helps Gurn, thanks for the questions/comments. JD

Any chance you could send me some pictures of where your transmission sits from inside the jeep. I just did this same swap (already had a 350) and this transmission shifter sits much farther back than when I had my T176. I bought a wrangler tunnel cover and it fits better, but still needs some adjustment to get into 2nd,4th and reverse. Lastly, and sorry for all the questions...did you have any issues with your starter? I currently have the same direct drive starter installed that I did with the other transmission, but now it is growling really bad when engaging. Just ordered a mini-starter to see if that resolves it. I noticed the nose cone of the direct drive on the new bellhousing doesn't fit as smooth as it did on my old bellhousing.
