    I'm from Brazil, I'm restoring my 1974 Ford-CJ5, I made some adaptations to the mechanical part, front brake and steering, it's all here on youtube, and watching your video I'll get this idea of the rigid door, thank you, you helped me a lot. big hug.

    Also, where did you get the bed cover and the rack above it? I haven’t seen that before?

    Funny story on those. I used to have a 2001 Wrangler. The bed cover is actually the bikini top I had left over. I modified it to fit the bed. The rack is a Harbor Freight hitch mounted cargo rack. I removed the center hitch part and had to cut it down another 1/2" or so to get it to fit in-between the roll bars. This jeep is definitely a budget build.

    Going to totally take this idea and run with it, going to torch the wood to get the grain to pop and give it a few coats of urethane

  • @MutantCheese

    It's just these square U-bolts from Lowes (swww.lowes.com/pd/National-Hardware-3-in-W-x-7-in-L-x-3-8-in-Dia-Zinc-Plated-U-Bolt/1000415197 )that I drilled through the roll bar and used a nut on both sides to lock them in place. It doesn't have to be the exact position because you can bend them a bit to get the exact location needed to make catch point for the latch.

    Few questions if I may. You used two pcs of 1/2" ply sandwiched for the doors? I heard to said you crossed grain per grain to minimize warping. How did you affix the 2 ply wood panels together? Did you glue them or screw them together? Also do you happen to have the link for the specific toolbox latches you can share? Thanks for your time! Great project!

  • @MutantCheese

    I used some foam project board and cut it out, laid it on the jeep and trimmed it until I was happy with the design. You'd probably have as much fun as I did using that technique.

    you said marine grade plywood, but what thickness? is that plastic edge banding around them?

  • @MutantCheese

    @MutantCheese

    4 жыл бұрын

    It's 1\2" plywood. There is no plastic banding. I painted it with a very thick coating of black industrial paint. Sorry can't recall what brand it's just what I had available.

    Do you remember what dimensions you made the door? Or anyway I can copy your template somehow to make myself I'm not too savvy with making anything out of wood but interested in trying

  • @MutantCheese

    @MutantCheese

    4 жыл бұрын

    I'm not sure how I could upload a template so large. It's just not feasible. Really tracing the lower edge of the door is easy with cardboard and a pencil. The upper portion you can design as you see fit. Once you have the cardboard template the way you like it then just trace over your plywood and cut.
