Look for rust. Especially on the underneath on the so called frame rails. Surface rust is normal but if you see holes and stuff falling off stay away unless you want to make it a buggy. And yes the 00 and 01 head is known to crack. They also have a low pinion Dana 30 that is weaker than the high pinion from the later 90’s. Apparently 97 through 99 were the best years. But in 2023 I’d just stay away from anything rusty. Everything but the body is highly available, fairly cheap, and easy to work on.

Tried getting King bypasses exactly like that (2.5x12) on the front of my XJ… Just wouldn’t fit with stock width axles. The tires or brakes or frame kept reaching out and grabbing bypass tubes or the reservoir. Thought about putting remote reservoirs on them… Ended up just going regular 12” smooth bodies like you have out back. They work really well. Not crazy, but well enough for most anything I’d want to trust a Dana 30 with, truss or no. If you’re dead set on using them, I’d keep in the back of your head that you might have to send them off to get remote reservoirs on them. Edit: NM, saw the end. You got them to fit.
