One of the disadvantages of modern periodic table is that we still don't know the actual place for hydrogen. Hydrogen is placed in group 1 but it also shares some properties and behaves like a group 17 element. So not it's not an alkali metal At 29:10 I spoke about metal hydroxides.

He is Russian but sanskrit is one of the oldest languages. Like you know how people use Latin or Greek when they name something even if they speak different language? Maybe like that he used Sanskrit.
