I’m still happy, listening to the original Oxygene, Equinoxe, Magnetic fields and Chronologie albums. I think that these 4 albums are enough for their creator to be considered as an Electronic music pioneer, and synthesist. These albums will be alive and kicking even after a thousand years, as long as there are human ears on the planet.

Sorry, but no, he's been far behind the cutting edge of electronic music since late 80's - early 90's. His last truly innovative album was Zoolook. Although of course the multichannel-surroud-atmos front is not yet widely embraced, simply because the technology is as not widely accepted yet as regular old stereo, so few artists even bother going into this. So for all the surround music experiments, starting with 2004 AERO comp., we gotta give it to Jean. Stylistically though, he's a boomer trying to stay up to date with the kids but still falling behind with the old boring 4-to-the-floor EDM formulas.

@@spectralisation I agree, for Jarre it has increasingly been less about the music and more about the technology, something that would have been abhorrent to someone like Vangelis, whose music always maintained a high quality. I keep hoping that Jarre will be great again but alas each album disappoints.

​@Danijel Dragojevic I respect JMJ a lot, he's been my No.1 inspiration for my own music-making attempts years ago.. Still, I'm also a fan of people like Autechre, Aphex Twin, Amon Tobin, Squarepusher and loads of more underground experimental artists, many of whom leave Jarre in the dust in basically every respect - composition, sound design, stylistic innovation, etc. Autechre especially has been on the cutting edge of electronic music for already 3 decades, constantly evolving and inventing sounds no one thought possible. Listen to their latest Helsinki Live, and Oxymore sounds hopelessly dull and rigid in comparison.. Of course, it's a matter of taste as well. Not everything has to be cutting edge all the time. I still enjoyed Oxymore on some level and I feel it's Jarre's best work in 20 years.

Still love his older stuff, last album I brought was the Aero album, after that Jarre went into another dimension, I wish he would play his older stuff at gigs because the new generation now have no clue who he is, I still think Jarre started a trend which has grown over the years, even his concerts are breathtaking and emense, a clever guy who started in his kitchen with 4keyboards and a tape recorder, amazing guy👍🏻

I know that he is quite heavily into multichannel, maybe even since of his studies, and he already tried to release mulichanel album Aero about 18years ago. To be honest I always enjoyed his work, where technologie was servant and helped to push boundaries of creativity, but in this case it looks like, that technologie is a master and album sounds a little bit as dark techno. I'm afraid, that majority of his fans prefers Equinox Infinity over this one. Anyway I'm happy that he is still active and looking forward every single new album from him.

OXYMORE would do well to consider CD Projekt Red for the 'SIN CITY x METROPOLIS' build... their work on the game 'CYBERPUNK 2077' is simply breathtaking and would be a fine compliment to JMJ audio dreamscape.

Haha, imagine telling this to JMJ face LOL :D The dude's respondible for a few of the largest live concerts of all-time with probably several stadiums worth of equipment crammed into one single event. I think Jean Michel deserves to waste as much electricity as he likes on his projects.
