Jean-Jacques Goldman est la personnalité préférée des français depuis des années. He is the boss.. le "taulier" respecté par tous les autres artistes et adorés autant pour sa musique que pour ses textes.

I love the fact that you, Derek, appreciate so much Jean-Jacques Goldman. I'm not surprised because of your youth (my nephews, who are 17, 15, and 13 years old, are fans) , but because you're not French. Til now I had never "met" anyone who's not French and knows Jean-Jacques Goldman. I particularly appreciate the fact that you really understand his work, his art. ❤️❤️❤️

We're so used to praise him for the lyrics that we forget how his musics are well composed.
You've seen Michael Jones on stage cause they made a duet "Je te donne", and they made an album at 3 with Carole Fredericks with especially "Un, deux, trois" (one, two three) that you should react to, you're gonna looooooove it 😍

Try hearing that song in a concert, it was magic. Like, the famous "moment" with the music and the clip joining, the "tic tac" of the time passing by and when FINALLY, IT HAPPENS (Not spoiling what)? It's just amazing, I still remember the screams of happiness in the crowd.

soon, Dereck will watch JJ Goldman with "Envole Moi" (LIVE) and with the scene who stands up
As you, Dereck, I especially like the synth arpeggios and arrangements. 🎹 It reminds me "Envole-moi" a bit. The lyrics are interesting too. An ode to simple people doing their job with consciousness and, in result, make our lives better.

Michael Jones and Goldman Know each Others since the end of the 70's, they were in the same band "tai Phong" ( Song "sister Jane"). When Goldman sang solo, he worked with Michael Jones and other musicians he kept all along His career.
And now "Là-bas" with Goldman and Sirima, for the female singer (discoverd singing in the subway and killed by her jealous boyfriend), the lyrics (about migrants) and the video. You will not be disappointed !

I am binging your reacts to those french songs that were our soundtrack for 40 years. Those songs are linked to so many french lives and stories. and it is really moving to watch you discover them and appreciate them.
Oh.. this makes me nostalgic .. if only it were possible, once again, to be part of J.J Goldman's audience.. dancing all along his show like I was..! Anyway, it's still such a vivid and happy memory for me! I saw JJ Goldman on stage several times back in the 1990s. He was truly awesome and the band was one of the best.

Good suggestion. I rarely like live versions but this one delivers. (I think live versions are meant to be experienced. And recording sounds from a concert is always a challenge)
The whole first part seems a little "hollow", but then we understand why as the instruments are added to each other. I wait for "Juste après" now. :))
" il changeait la vie " is my favorite Goldman's song. All her songs are masterpieces but I think this one is high level.

His lives are always something. It really brings something new, compared to the studio version. So it changes everything and you re-discover the songs. My favorite lives are "Et l'on y peut rien", "Ensemble" and "Envole-moi". I'd like to see your react to these !

I don't know if anyone has commented on this yet, but Jean-Jacques Goldman started out with the group Tai Phong in the mid-seventies in case Dereck looks at it and gives us his impressions of Tai Phong's "Sister Jane".

@@IreneAgathe puisque tu pars I can't listen this song since my cousine death. She likes JJ Goldman and her parents choose this music and we listened in cimetery just before the last goodbye.

Michael Jones is working with Jean Jacques Goldman since the beginning of his solo career in early 80's (they were in the same group Thai Phong before). Seeing Fredericks could not be impossible since she was a backing vocalist of jean jacques since middle of 80's et paticipate to JJG album," Entre gris clair et gris fonçé" and "Il changeait la vie" comme from this album!
Another hit. The studio version is pretty amazing
Some advices for next JJG's songs' reacts : - for some insane instruments and tempo "Tournent les violons" and "1,2,3", the second one being with Jones and Fredericks - for some intense lyrics and emotions "Comme toi" 🥺

The song (and the album "entre gris clair et gris foncé") - such as Balavoine songs in the same period mid 80's- , is recorded on a Fairlight synth!

You should listen "Puisque tu pars" in Live . It's an very beautiful song with an incredible guitar solo at the end !
Goldman nailed those synths so hard, kind of awkward to use them in any song after he did this.
