Because Fox focused on Logan/Jean due to the X movie universe revolving around Wolverine, the fact Hugh Jackman was the leading man, and the fact Famke/Hugh had good chemistry. Therefore, that made Cyclops to be the odd man out. They never knew how to write him, made him unlikable and soft to make the audience root for Wolverine even more, thus making him the man in the way of 'true' love between Logan and Jean. It hurts me as an X-Men fan, especially a Cyclops fan, that they turned Scott Summers into a joke. It's called X-Men, not Wolverine and friends. Here's hoping in the marvel studios reboot Cyclops will actually be essential and his relationship with Jean will be written will. We shall see

Don't know why even in original movies I shipped Jean and Scott even Wolverine and Jean are central attraction of movie. They made it look like Scott is the third wheel between the astounding and intriguing true love between Jean and Logon when in real he's the one who came in between childhood inseparable soulmates. Logon and Jean's love line was more flamy which would be intriguing and burning sensation but would eventually lose as years would past but when it was about Scott and Jean. It's inseparable two halves that aren't meant to fall apart, the moment they do, they held no meaning at all anymore. They've so much depth and everlasting emotions to deal with wether pain, bliss, sadness and happiness. This is why I hate comics where Scott hook up with Emma. I love Emma but I legit hated how her influence turned up Scott's personality. He grow out to be another Magneto with worst characteristics. The only reason cope up with the love square of Scott, Emma, Jean and Logon is because they were growing up as adults. They were under bad influence and eventually gave into their dark selves at some point. Logon was distraction for Jean and Emma was an addiction to Scott. Both needed to look past their distraction and addictions to prove how their love last.

I love Cyclop's unwavering love for Jean even when she became the phoenix.

That's because Fox was focused on Logan/Jean, and most of the audience loved it. Why do you think the movies gave Scott the short end of the straw? Made him weak? Even forgettable? Because the Fox executives, directors, and screenwriters were mainly committed to leading man Hugh Jackman and his charismatic Logan character. They've even admitted that behind the scenes and director's commentary on the DVDs. And since Logan was interested in Jean, she got more screentime. Add the fact that Halle Berry was an oscar winner, the screenwriters gave Storm a little more screentime as well. Sadly, that gave James Marsden's Cyclops with very little or nothing to do. So instead of Cyclops being the Captain America bad@$$ leader of the x-men who takes crap from no one, he's simply there to be set-up as the jealous boyfriend that's in the way of 'true love' between Logan and Jean. Hopefully in the MCU reboot in the next few years we'll see a proper Cyclops that's given justice.

I think Dark Phoenix did a much better job of showcasing Scott/Jean. But I would have loved an in-between movie that explained how their relationship bloomed to such great lengths. What adventures must they have experienced for Scott to believe so fiercely in her? How many times did they save each other's lives? How many times did they say good bye not knowing if it would be their last? I NEED ANSWERS

I never liked Jean and Wolverine relationship. I always shipped Jean and Scott. Cause man they are literally made for each other.

Maybe because they showed them as a already established couple while Jean and Logon were still developing that's why people loved Logon and Jean more. But I personally believe they didn't do justice of portraying why Jean and Scott's love was everlasting.

Miri he just means Cyclopes is the leader of the x men just like how captain America is the leader of the avengers. In my opinion, Cyclopes is way stronger than captain America :)

BlueBell exactly, and yes Cyclops is stronger than CA..its just in the movies he's depicted as just a dude with eyes that can shoot beams and kinda weak. Cyclops is smarter than Captain America...I'm a huge fan of cap but cyclops will take him.

Cedric Urselita yeaa the movies did a better job depicting captain America for sure. No x men movie cast the right actor for Cyclopes in my opinion and they always stripped away his character. In the original x men movies they made Cyclopes weak to allow wolverine to shine and these movies are no different. Okay rant over😂

Scott will always be my bae❤️ Also when I saw Dark Phoenix I was thinking the whole time “ Jean DONT hurt my baby” it was so cute how Scott protected her and still loved her for who she was when others saw her as a destructive monster.

Hopefully Disney Marvel is going to give the build up of the relationship that it deserves . Fox rushed or never showcased how their relationship started and developed ...

JLew Sadly the MCU gives a damn about the X-Men :(( I’d rather choose FOX

The so-called ‘love triangle’ between Scott, Jean and Logan in the early trilogy was so fucking forced and unnecessary. And it’s even more annoying that Jean was supposedly attracted to Logan despite having a boyfriend. I don’t know what Bryan Singer was smoking. He kept shoving the Logan/Jean ship into our faces and tried to make it happen so badly. Glad that the later movies allowed Scott and Jean to be together. Still, the cartoon series did a much better job in developing their relationship.

@@youmode562 We may have different views but I thought their relationship showed some development from the last movie and throughout this movie too. It's pleasing to see that they find solace in each other and Cyclops as one of her source of courage.

Hope Marvel can finally write for Cyclops too, if they are going to make x men movies, as he is the leader of the x men. But so less shown in de xmen movies.

X-Men : Apocalypse reminds me those childhood days when I used to had this crush on Scott (played by James Marsden) and the cartoon character in X-Men : Evolution. He has got this cute smile 🥰.... I was so shocked that he was one of the main character and they killed him.. 😑 The chemistry between Scott and Jean will always be something to remember in X-Men series 🥰... Scott and Jean are my all time fav people! I love Logan of course. I grew up watching X-Men Evolution and the Animated series. I may be 24 years old but I would stay up late on school nights watching the X-Men animated series and X-Men Evolution. I also have plans to bring my Dark Phoenix cosplay from the series to cons.

Thanks Gods than in the DOFP they are ended up together!! My headcanon that after "Dark Phoenix" events Jean reincarnated on Earth only for Scott. And oh, Scott's love to Jean and desperate intention to protect her in DP are really amazing. I will always admire the line "If you touch her, I will f-cking kill you" (Scott said to Magneto) (Anyway, 20 minutes later Erik and Scott stayed the last ones left to protect together Charles and Jean after everyone else was out of action, and this is incredibly symbolic, because both fought for a dearest people in their lives)

I actually liked the chemistry of Sophie Turner and Tye Sheridan, I wish they didn’t sideline Tye in Dark Phoenix. What’s so messed up is that Fox had TWO tries at the Dark Phoenix Saga and the Animated series is still the best adaptation.
