Je-hovah's Witness Asks Rabbi Tovia Singer if He Can Believe in Jesus and be a Righteous Gentile

Je-hovah's Witnesses belong to a Christian sect that believes Jesus is the Messiah, the New Testament is the word of God, and Jesus died for the sins of mankind. However, this millenarian denomination, which began in the United States during the 19th century, is not considered mainstream by other Christian denominations. Among other striking beliefs, this fundamentalist group forcefully rejects the doctrine of the Trinity or any notion that Jesus was divine. Rabbi Tovia Singer responds to a Je-hovah's Witness pressing question: Am I a righteous gentile?

    Because you are a Jew, I want to ask you a logical question... Why did God send a huge and large number of prophets? Most of these prophets were sent by God to the Children of Israel... So why was God not satisfied with sending one messenger like Adam, and that is enough? Do you have a question as a Jew?

    Yes. Tovia sounds like something speaking to Eve in the garden. " Has God said?" " You won't die." They both twist Hashem's words. Take the line from him, islam and so many false leaders " They corrupted the scriptures." The perfect example is Isaiah 52:13 -53: 12 on the first appearance of Messiah. Of course Jacob, who's name was changed to "Israel' by God and so loved and cherished by The Maker of the universes, is in the text, but he is paralleled to an individual, Yeshua, The Lion of the tribe of Judah, The Messiah, Saviour and redeemer for the world. The He abuse He recieved and predicted for His first coming was just as Joseph's treatment by his bros, not receiving the visions that Adonia gave him until his brothers came to Egypt the second time when theireyes were opened. When Yeshua ( Salvation) comes the second time, all had better say " Baruch haba B'Shem Adonai. " Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. " Study for yourself . Pick a Tanakh and read. Pray for truth in HaShem's perfect Torah and you will find truth and ' Sar Shalom ' The Prince of Peace. Shalom Aleichem

    Jw's also believe in the 144,000 in the NT to be the people in NY headquarters who they call them "anointed ones" who replaced Israel as the "anointed one. It is also called "spiritual israel' replacement theology. Jw's also believe in the kingdom of God governed by their 'anointed ones" who will go to heavens co -heir with "Jesus" Jw's also believe that they are the only ones to be saved from this world because they possess this special knowledge about their doctrines. Jw's also believe that Jesus is the High Priest and the Archangel who pre existed before he became Jesus the only savior of the world. Jw's also believe that they will preach to their loves ones in the 1000 year reign of Christ where people will have a second chance to repent. Jw's also believe that Jesus appeared in 1914 ( the last days signs) called by their founder Charles Russell "the beginning of the gentiles period to come in. and whoever was born during these dates 1914-1937 will be part of the 144,000 anointed ones. JW's also believe to know the "date" of the end of the world to be a certain 'date" proclaimed by their "anointed ones' in NY headquarters , the last claim was 2012 ( they foretold it like 7-10 times since 1914) and their next date future date is 2030. The Jw's also believe in birth of Jesus to be "divine" by the Holy Spirit or "immaculate conception" like the Catholic Church. JW's also believe in other weird doctrines that are part of Christianity as well.

    I feel his pain! I went through similar transitions & it feels life you're isolated & alone. I was in the Pentecostal Church when I "got saved" I surrounded myself with like minded believers. Only read what supported my beliefs & like was pretty good. Then I started to study the Bible myself with a friend. He and I started finding problems with the New Testament so we went into the Old looking for answers. Eventually we started keeping the Sabbath & other laws. When Christians found out we were told we were "trying to earn Grace" "Judaizers" we were even told that Satan wants us to keep the law to void our Grace! We ended up losing almost all our Christian friends. People avoided us & gossip started. This was a tough and painful process. All we wanted was to be sure we were living biblical lives. We kept going with our studies and realized we both came to religion because of Jesus. We like him. He heals. He raises the dead. He makes food for large crowds. What's not to like right? Well, in contrast YHWH is not as nice so the more we studied the more YHWH & Jesus seem to be nothing alike. Then we realized the OT & NT have very little in common. Most of the Prophecy about Jesus is manufactured or used out of context. It took a few years to truly unlearn what we had been indoctrinated into. Thankfully I had a friend and a wife to help me through this pain! The caller needs the same. Where can we go to get help from religious abuse? The battle inside our heads is real! I feel bad for this caller if he does "come out of her" the light at the end of the tunnel is there. Keep going toward it. The darkness where you are is man made doctrines & church traditions. The light is freedom.

    Exactly. Yahweh is NOT the father of Jesus. If you ask me he's more of a Valentinian Demiurge figure. Highly legalistic and matter of fact as to where Christ expounded upon the ACTUAL law which was ALWAYS the law, which contains the written OT law yet pursues deeper into the mental/psychological and archetypal realms. The figure of Christ isn't Yahweh incarnated, rather he was POSSESSED by the Logos. Much closer in principle to the Tao of Eastern philosophy and closer to Sophia of the Gnostics. That's just my own take. Feel free to differ, because you are free to do such.

    Coming out of Christianity after coming to the truth is so very difficult because most rabbis don’t have an interest in teaching new comers the Torah. Learning Torah is difficult to come to a truthful understanding when there is no teacher. Rabbi Singer cross references OT and the NT so that we are able to actually SEE the contrast and why the NT is not based on the Hebrew Scriptures in truth. I plead for help to SEE the truth. His goal is to bring back the Jewish to the God of Abraham and in doing so has opened the eyes of Christians. We need a rabbi and he is mine . I praise HaShem for bringing him into my life to lead me.

    What on earth? How are you a Muslim and making dua someone is guided to Judaism alongside Islam? You need to check your iman, educate yourself and stop spouting nonsense. Islam and Judaism both cannot be true. They oppose each other in core beliefs. There’s only one pathway to Allah and that is Islam.

  • @SaidAhmad

    @SaidAhmad

    @@samboy90 Each human being has a direct connection to Allah ta’ala. Nobody needs religion. Religions are man made and, history has proven, they can be evil and a source of great suffering for humanity. We don’t need priests, mullahs, sheikhs, gurus, bishops, monks, alims or any other such clergy to “guide” us. Allah ta’ala sent us in his final revelation the furqan that we might know right from wrong and that He vouched safe unlike earlier revelations. This is the only “education” one needs if one wishes to belong to those who submit to the will of our Lord. My advice to new Muslims from outside the culturally defined Arabic narrative is to stay clear of the dawah preachers. The Quran is in plain language and so obviates the need for the services of a religious leadership to interpret its meaning for us. Islam is not and was not ever intended to be a religion as such. Islam is what it has always been, the primordial faith that exists in the hearts of good men and women and that has been with us since the time of our father Adam (AS). This is why Allah (SWT) refers to all the pre-Mohammedan prophets as Muslim when the religion that exists in the world today and has the temerity to call itself Islam, did not even exist. The “nonsense” you speak of I get from our holy Creator in his final revelation to humanity. I use no other source in issues of faith/spirituality. If it appears nonsense to you, it is because it conflicts with what your religious leadership tells you. You have bound yourself to religious orthodoxy rather than to the word of our Lord, may He be praised and glorified. There is a difference, sir, between worshipping Allah ta’ala and worshipping your religion. Religious leadership has a vested interest in getting you to believe in this false equivalency. Buying into this brings one dangerously close to shirk. If you follow the word of Allah you will never go wrong but if you follow the word of men you’re just following someone else’s agenda. Read Quran every single day of your life. That, is your guide. May Allah in His infinite mercy bring you back to His loving embrace and protect you from the errors of religiosity. May the peace and blessing of our Lord be upon you day and night and all the days of your life.

    Haya 7 Yes, Jehovah's Witnesses do believe Jesus was "A" God, but the pharisees and scribes were also considered to be "gods". The word "god" means "mighty one" and is a term which was applied to all men of great knowledge and to men of great power in those days. Oh, and the person you refer to as their "founder" was not their founder and also was not involved in any form of the occult, nor was he a Freemason. I can provide you with proof of that easily enough. The following information comes from former Jehovah's Witness Barbara Anderson: Back in 2001, I requested historical information from the ANCIENT ACCEPTED SCOTTISH RITE OF FREEMASONRY, VALLEY OF PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, asking if Charles Taze Russell, his father, Joseph Lytel Russell, and his uncle, Charles Tays Russell, were Pennsylvania Freemasons. This is the answer I received in a letter: “AFTER A SEARCH OF OUR RECORDS, WE DETERMINED THAT THE THREE RUSSELLS WERE NOT MEMBERS OF OUR ORGANIZATION.” In their letter, the Pittsburgh Chapter recommended that I send an inquiry asking for further research into this question to the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania located in Philadelphia - which I did. On April 27, 2001, I received this reply: “THE RECORD BOOKS IN THE GRAND SECRETARY’S OFFICE ARE UNAVAILABLE AT THIS TIME AS THEY ARE BEING CONSERVED AND SHOULD BE BACK SOME TIME IN THE FALL.” Inasmuch as I was very involved with other, more pressing things then, I did not follow-up and eventually my desire for resolution of this question faded out of my mind, that is, until September 2005 when I sent a follow-up email to the Masonic Temple, Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Shortly thereafter, I received this reply: DEAR MS. ANDERSON, CHARLES TAZE RUSSELL WAS NOT A PENNSYLVANIA FREEMASON. NOR DOES HE APPEAR IN THE RECORDS OF ENGLAND OR IRELAND. I SHALL CHECK THE RECORDS FOR THE OTHER TWO RUSSELLS. BEST, GLENYS A. WALDMAN LIBRARIAN I never checked back with Ms. Waldman to see whether the other two Russell’s were Pennsylvania Freemasons, but there has never been any evidence they were, so I didn’t bother. In any event, I would hope the answer from a search of the original records will forever put this claim to rest that Charles Taze Russell was a Pennsylvania Freemason because he absolutely was not. Barbara Anderson

    I know this isn't a debate with Rabbi singer, but I saw some points I wanted to respond to as a JW- (I'll use "Hashem" out of respect for rabbi Singer) 1- to clarify our view on Jesus and the Father a bit: our views are summed up nicely at John 17:3 and 1 Corinthiand 8:6. As a plain reading... not thinking "but he really meant something completely different." One God, the Father, Hashem. Jesus is the Christ whom He sent. We believe Jesus is the heavenly son of God, "The Word" in John 1:1 and throughout Zechariah. A servent of God that God anointed to a certain level of authority, but a finite being God has worked through since creation... but not God himself. We do not believe Jesus is coequal or coeternal. The correlation with Michael has quite a bit of backing, but isn't exactly a "hard doctrine." 2- the blood transfusion bit is a delicate topic. Not to push my own videos, but I made a video explaining that. Organ transplants aren't a matter of "changing our mind after people died, and forcing God to change his mind with us." ... rather, medical advancements and understandings change over time. No one thought germs existed until germ theory was substantiated... doesn't mean sicknesses "used to be caused by bad air until we invented germs." ... people learn. That's ok. 3- i wouldn't say we're "extreme foes" of the mainstream church... we simply have seen it and found it inaccurate. 4- at 6:30- I disagree with his stance on human sacrifice... it's not something asked of people, but in hebrew scriptures, it was asked of Abraham. Because Abraham was WILLING due to his faith, God spared him that need and provided a substitute. We see the greek scriptures (john 3:16) as Hashem following through with what he asked of Abraham. Jesus didn't come to abolish or oppose the original (mosaic) law, but to fulfill it. His judgement here isn't against the JWs in particular, but the Greek scriptures themselves. 5- 11:00 "why do you need to hand out pamphlets when you have a bible?" Because mainstream Christianity is still radically mislead by the effects of Constantine's church working so hard to hide truth. People clearly need a bit of help studying for themselves. 6- Solomon may not have spoken about the Messiah, but many hebrew texts have. Rabbi Singer and I would disagree on that being Jesus. But he would have to agree that a Messiah will bring about the world to come... we believe that could happen soon. We just call "the world to come" "the New System" and believe that to be what Michael spoke of in the book of Daniel. 7- 17:05 - the only reason they wouldn't come to your door would be if you wanted to be placed on the "do not call" list. If you ever want a bible study, you can request one at any time through the website and a local congregation would send someone. I can't travel, but I'd love to talk to you! I disagree with certain things, but have used some of the points you've made in my own conversations.

    @@tristanwarren9808 sorry, I don't believe I got a notification on this reply since I wasn't tagged. Sure, I'm always looking for discussions and things to research. If you're still interested. I'd be a bit cautious with that answer: God himself is infallible, yes. And I believe what was originally given was perfect. I believe the scriptures have been -sufficiently- preserved, yes. But there are scribal errors and questionable texts, even in the Hebrew scriptures. For example, I'm skeptical of the divine inspiration of the book of Esther. Historical, sure, but the story seems very secular... People did this, and people did that, and people manipulated people so that one group wanted to kill another, but the second killed the first group instead... No prophecy. Very little mention of God at all. The account could be historical, and God could have been acting, without this being "infallible divinely inspired scripture, through which God teaches future generations." I anticipate there is more truth that could have been beneficial, which has been lost to history. -Enough- has been preserved. But not 100% preserved with 0% imperfections as some KJV-only baptists would suggest. I believe many cultures (particularly Rome) have done everything in their power to destroy or pervert as much scripture as they could. They didn't "succeed." But they did some damage.

But if one changes a single letter, it can become this is my name forever, conceal it in every generation." We know Rabbi Haninah ben Teradion was executed by Rome for speaking the name as it was written, opposing Roman prohibition in the 2nd century C.E. Rabbinic prohibition therefore seems to have been a means to survive Roman Oppression. But, Rome scattered them for another 1700 years or so, and they're still under that prohibition.

    But the old testament claims that "The soul that sinneth shall die. The father shall not suffer the iniquity of the son, nor the son shall not suffer the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself. If the wicked person turns away from all sins which he has committed he will surely live, he shall not die." (Ezekiel 18:20-21) "The children shall not put to death for father's iniquity nor the father shall not be put to death for children's iniquity. Every man will die for their own sins." (Deuteronomy 24:16) "Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turns from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right; If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die. None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live." (Ezekiel 33:14-16) For this verse of old testament, Muslims and Jews rejects that Jesus died for our sins. Even also it contradicts and goes against the old testament. But some people bring Isaiah 53 that propechy about a suffering a servant and this is Jesus. But honestly the propechy isn't referring Jesus if we read Isaiah 52 and Isaiah 54.

Once he is sure of this he will have the strength to move on and find his spiritual home, a new path.....his old church will shun him and his family which is sickening.....and the best way to deal with this is to move away like Avraham and Sarah did....and they will be blessed with good things in life.
