JDM Subaru Forester STI Review | Our Imported JDM Daily!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Marcus drives and reviews a JDM 2001 Subaru Forester STI from Japan! The Forester STI is one of those cars that you aren't really sure about when you first step inside but after driving it for a few weeks you begin to have a lot of fun. It's comfortable, fast, and subtle.

I honestly wouldn't mod it (heavily) or even be disappointed that it's not manual. A nice, cushy, quick daily is all it needs to be. Super cool!

+Roads Untraveled maybe in 1992 itd be "quick". or maybe in canada for a street car. I know where youre coming from but quick really isnt the descriptive word for this day and age. a 911 turbo is quick. I guess we live in different parts of the world with different expectations. quick street car to me is anything thatll trap 130mph+ over the 1/4.

Yeah we definitely have different meanings for different words haha. I would call a 911 turbo fucking fast. I would call the 700whp R32 GTR I drove a "death trap of raw power and speed". It's all about the context. I'm reviewing a practical automatic daily driver here. In this context it's quick for what it is. It's an exciting amount of power and torque for your average wagon buyer. We're going to put it up in a drag race against my MR2 GT-S. It should be a close race, both are 13-second capable cars.

Finally! A real good quality amazing review on SF5 STI on KZread! Thank you very much! Perfect intro, music, video editing, perfect everything! :D I own exactly the same one for already seven years (just turned over 200k km, imported in 2009), almost 100% the same, except for some minor differences (there are some videos on my channel). Even the problems are the same))) Had to remove the radio unit, polish the headlights and some other stuff. Actually, it's a nice daily car, but stupid slow transmission ruins everything... Good luck to you and your channel, keep it up! P.S. Very beautiful landscape and environment!

was this car on craigslist recently? i recently purchased an 01 st-b and ive really enjoyed it so far. figured id use to ground clearance for forestry road exploring instead of having the weird angles that come with the sti body kit which is one of the only major differences between that and the st-b along with bigger brakes and some interior trim. another fun fact about the st-b is that it has more hp then the forester s turbos they build in america and its the same engine as the wrx 02-05 which makes for some easier part shopping. mine also has the annoying radio issue.

Man, you need new struts in that thing! KYB Excell G's are essentially 'OEM' for that model, and will keep the softer factory feel that you're after. I'd suggest at least doing that.

I own the sti 2 type m version of this car. basically the same but with a 5 speed manual. Did intake and exhaust. then found out this was the final non-flashable ECUs in foresters. So no aftermarket ECU=no tune and i wanna make sure everything i do can be undone upon sale. Still its fast and sounds amazing

Having owned one of these for a few years now, I completely agree with the lack of "control" when selecting gears. I find the power to be either on or off - there's very little middle ground - and you've gotta have big cajones when pulling out of a junction hastily as it either trudges out slowly or kicks down and goes mental. One thing I found in regards to cornering control was to have the shifter in the '3' position as opposed to 'D'. It stops the gearbox from constantly having to kick down to a more appropriate gear and delivers the power on a far more controllable power band. Absolutely love the video as finding informed information regarding these vehicles is like finding hen's teeth (as shown by that mouthy kn*b up there stating it's not an STi). Great video and can't wait to see it go ahead with your MR2. Keep it up!

Always wanted the sti forester but stopped after realizing there isn't that big of a difference between the forester xt and the forester sti. The forester xt was faster than the wrx of the same year on the street 0-60 5.1 seconds. With just a cobb tune and nothing else your sitting at forester sti performance, add some coils from bc racing or some struts from a wrx or sti and you'll be handling better too. Cash wise you're better off building up an xt. Handling wise I'm pretty satisfied for now it has less body roll than my 335i 2010 did. Also the usdm forester has a nice interior with heated leather seats moon roof and real cup holders lol. The only luxuries I'm missing from my bmw are the mirror defrosters and the heated steering wheel and of course the 6 speed manual.

What's the fucking difference between forester sti and a normal forester let say from 2007. The shape is different , how could make a normal forester looks more like a forester sti??

While I would agree in any other situation, it's a Subaru.. Why buy a Subaru Forester if you're going to ruin it's ground clearance?! :p There goes all your dirt and snow fun!

"if your going 100km and your floor it has some good torque" saying that as his difference for the usdm vs JDM version. Bruh, usdm comes with NOTHING THAT CAR HAS. Power mirrors. Full sti body kit and badges. Momo steering wheel. Duel cam ej205. Sti seats. Amber lights in the fenders. Everything on the car is instantly different from the USDM FORESTER. not to mention usdm is N/A SINGLE CAM!!!! EJ205 IS DUEL CAM TURBO. but wait? You already knew this right? Clearly not cause why would you import a JDM right? 😂😂😂 Makes me laugh.

Subaru never released a STI Forester until '04', and definitely didn't make any 'SF' STI's. That is just a normal jdm Forester with 'SG' STI seats, and a badge. Should research before making a whole video, makes you look silly.

You're the one that should be doing the research. Subaru did make SF STI foresters exclusive in japan. Those are not SG sti seats. The SG sti seats look more like the GR sti seats without the leather. I beg you to type in SF sti in google and SG sti seats. Both your claims are false.

Look man, I live in the land of used imports and am in Subaru clubs. You're not making any sense, where do you find these unicorns? There's much more to a sti than just seats you Idiot.

You are correct, the SF5 STi is more than just seats, it is body kit, suspension, alloys and so on. Where you are not correct, the SF5 STi was released in Japan from May 2000 so I guess you owe “Ryn Nguyen” an apology for calling him an “idiot". Here are some old unicorn sales brochures from Subaru Japan facebook.com/braveautointernational/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1471206996239768

You're right, "Sorry Ryn Nguyen". Those links are awesome cheers, and after looking realised that this isn't one of them in this video. For one your brochure states they're manual only and this is auto. All jdm turbo foresters have that power button.

Auto versions of the SF5 STi were first to be released and this was from May 2000. 5spd versions were then released from Oct 2001.
