they can also reach further than a skitsteer but at times a skitsteer can be better in small jobs like getting the manure out of the shed and putting new and fresh patting in for better comfort and if i should choose between the 2 i'd choose the skitsteer

Have had a Manitou telehandler here for years, would not do without it. So good at feeding and manure work. Can drive a fence post handy enough as well. Would do a great job at clearing snow as well. A skidsteer has its uses especially in sheds as seen here with your Dad cleaning the slats. As I get older (and slower) its getting easier to justify getting one.

We have a TM320 articulated telehandler. We use it to feed, load solids out of the pits, move trees, scrap up concrete lots. Get onto roofs of the barns. We also use a skid loader but it is easier to use that to just load manure with when the telehandler is being used. Can use the telehandler for so much. Great machine! Northern Indiana

I have been running JCB telehandlers for 30 years. They are fantastic! Safe to get in and out of, you can load spreaders easily and load/lift things over fences. It’s great to use as a man lift to get high up to fix buildings and such. They turn great. My advice is to leave your boom extended a little. Don’t suck it in and out between getting scoops and dumping into the feed wagon/manure spreader. It would be great for filling your planter with seed from those large bags. Take care Eric and Dennis.

Telehandlers are soo handy!!! only thing i will say, we switched to a pivot-steer JCB (Tm 220 or 320s ) as apposed to a side arm version you have on demo, soooo much more maneuverability and visibility, i would HIGHLY recommend, especially if you are thinking of moving from the skid steer closer to what your looking for i think! also there are a Widemann and Manitou versions which are cheaper than the JCB but ever bit as well constructed any way love the vids!

I have run a manitou telehandler for quite some time now and it makes everything much easier, it doesn’t turn quite as tight as the skid loader but I have found not many times that it was not able to do the job I needed it for, the larger bucket size compensates for the minimal change in turning capabilities, it’s especially worth it if it has rear steer which it seems that it does

  • @IamJacksLPs

I drive telehandlers a lot for work and they can be very useful. The main one I drive is the bigger version of the one you are using but for all intents and purposes they are the same machine. Some things to look out for with these JCB's is that door window. I recommend keeping it latched to the door because some times you think its latched and its not. The window will swing out wide explode on ya faster than you realize. Best advice I can give you is to keep the wall close to the door. Even with the mirrors hanging off the right side it is easy to miss a curb or something getting underneath the engine compartment. Also, get into the habit of flipping it into neutral when you are working the bucket to dump into a trailer. These things can creep forward on you even if you think you are pressing the brake hard enough. Other than that enjoy it while you got it. The air con and heating work wonders.

We own a JCB telehandler, it has been a great unit. I have found that some of the OEM parts are a little bit pricey but we have some good servicing dealers around us and everything is pretty much on hand. The machine is really easy to maintain. I have run a few of the major name brands and the JCB by far is the best for operator comfort. I’ve never run a John Deere handler but I don’t think they make them anymore anyway. We really have had no problems with ours other than problems the guys have caused.. by that I mean operator error lol. I know that you also like to watch Andy‘s videos so you’ve gotten to see his in action as well. I think if you have the space for it you guys will really like it over the skid loader

  • @jacobzylstra8296

We have 3 telehandlers on our 300 milking dairy farm I work at, awesome machines! Super nice for feeding I usually just leave the boom extended a little bit basically the minimum you need in order to be able to dump in the mixer as opposed to putting it in and out every time you dump a bucket in same with a manure spreader as long as you aren’t working in too tight of a space, makes things a little easier. IMO you definitely could just leave the mixer parked by the grain since this buckets already bigger plus the machine drives faster, could also run the mixer at a slightly lower rpm if needed to keep the mix consistent. I don’t know if this will work on your jcb but on our Manitous I can go into neutral and roll along so when I drive up to the mixer/manure spreader I try have enough speed to roll right up to it and before I get there I click into neutral and start raising the boom and I press the throttle so it goes way faster but the machine doesn’t take off since I’m in neutral. I’m assuming you’ve never operated a telehandler before so just a couple tips from a (self-proclaimed😆) experienced operator. It will be easier once you are more comfortable running the machine. I’ve been watching your channel for a long time and I think you will find it quite nice for many other jobs like anything at the other farm the higher speed will be quite handy and loading seed bags into your planter. There will be jobs in tight spaces that require a skid loader but four wheel steering is a big advantage, ours also have a crab steering option which isn’t used much but the odd time it does come in handy. They are great machines and i highly recommend them but all farms are different so whatever works best for you. If you decide not to purchase one the jcb tele skid loader would not be a bad option and definitely worth looking into.

Nice machine that JCB. To load the corn silage even faster, you also can use a shear grab to get the silage out of the clamp and loading into the feed mixer. That will also save time and coupling of the attachements.

  • @ryanschmitmeyer4960
    @ryanschmitmeyer49602 жыл бұрын

We have a Manitou. It's quicker for mixing feed and loading hay/ straw. It's a lot easier on the silage pad also. The skid loader would tear up the concrete a lot worse and the tires wear out fast on a skid loader. They both have their place, but you will not regret getting a telehandler. You'll find a lot of uses for it!

It took us a yr to decide but six weeks we bought a Merlo telehandler. It specs out the exact same as the one you are demoing. We kept the skidsteer cause as you say there is some jobs the telehandler can't do but it it is hardly used now. Once you get on to running it and the convenience and comfort of it i think you will be sold. Had ours 7 weeks now and it has 120 hrs on it already. cheers

Telehandlers are awsome on a farm and in my opinion handyer than a skid steer. I've run the 525 for a few days they look funny on the outside because of the cab being big. But inside they are awsome. They also have a huge radiator to help with hot weather. I would also suggest taking a look at jcb's teleskid. Its a bit of both a skidsteer and a telehandler in one machine.

I've used one and are great just the steering options just makes driving so easy in tight places and yes so easier to get in and out with, best way is to do the same jobs and you'll probably find it so much easier plus you wouldn't have to buy one brand new they last for ever so second would be fine and maybe try the other one you said they had might be better option too. The scraping in the cow shed you'll need the steer but do try it in the heifer barns both im sure you love it. Also you can do roof stuff alot easier and safer. And Tom Pemberton has one or two of these and jcb and has videos using it might make your decision easier.

We’ve had telehandlers for years and they are the loader of choice on UK dairy farms ,it will be interesting to see how it fits on your farm as you’ve had skidsteers for so long .

You should try and domesticate a wild skidsteer, that's how we got the ability to use and maneuver them in the US

We had that same model jcb telehandler on our dairy farm in western pa. And it was great to use when it worked but we had nothing but problems with ours bought it new in 2016 by spring of 2020 we had almost 20k in repairs. So we switched back to a skid loader

Here in Canada we call it a Zoom Boom! We rent one, they deliver it to our construction sites. So versatile especially with forks for putting materials high up. When done, they pickup!

Clever idea with the screws to pull down the board. Steel wool jammed in small places works well.

I replaced a hose end like that without tape, guy told me I didn't need it. It always holds us up a lot when hydraulic hoses break. 🙃 We use telehander from bobcat to load trucks. We can load a large dump truck with no issue. I like the forward and reverse button. Ours has a lever on the left of the steering wheel that feels a lot like a shifter on a car, but it's backwards to what I'm use to. That little switch on the right hand keeps your hand on the steering wheel nicely.

Here in Ireland we either have a machine like that or a articulated telescopic loader skid steer loaders are not that popular we had a merlo with a seven metre reach but changed to a jcb tm 220 and them to a weideman 3050 we felt that there was to many blind spots with a telehandler . We had a skid steer back in the nineties it was a Toyota ( although I don't know if they actually built it ) but we felt it had limited capacity and inadequate reach . We clock up about 1500 hrs a year on our small loader so we have gone through a good few options we had a jcb 520 about 20 years ago which was a previous model to the one you have it was a good little tool and we put about 8000 hrs on it and traded it for a merlo with three point hitch which was a bit of a mistake , we needed a small loader not a jack of all trades anyway it was a bit big for our yard. I think a lot of American dairy farmers have skids because they don't realise how handy a telescopic boom is around the place you'll be amazed how rarely you go for a ladder once you have one. Machinery has become so expensive that it is important to get the tool that most suits your system if you could get a tm220 out on demo I suspect you would not be disappointed.

Ive used the older model jcb tele handler for landscaping and it was a great machine. You're not going to be able to move around like a skid steer but the reach and height the bucket has to me outweighs those cons.

We have a New Holland Skid steer and a JCB 525.60 telehandler on our 100 cow dairy farm in the UK, we use the JCB on all the feeding tasks and then the skid steer handles all the manure in the sheds, scraping out etc, couldn't live without either, skid steer has the manoeuvrability, whilst the JCB has the lift and reach compatibility

If you decide to go with the JCB make sure your local hose shop carries british pipe fittings. They can be a pain to work with as they get older as well since the ends swell if they are over tightened. Also see if that machine has a return to dig function that will set the bucket back at the dig position when you roll the bucket back after dumping. The bucket can be curling back while you are getting set for another pass.

your skid loader should have a decompression button for the aux couplers, its supposed to save you from having to hammer on your quick couplers. My deere has couplers that push in to decompress them, but I've also seen a separate button to do it

What we use to feed our cows is a case construction 221F mini lay loader. I love it!!!!! We better than a shod loader and a lot more agile than the telehaners
