You should try the new firmware update it sounds a lot better

I have the Xtreme 2. It sounds better and more hifi than the first Xtreme, but i think to that it's not loud and powerfull enough for outside listening. But for indoors, it sounds great with a controlled bass and detailed sound.

Edwin Snoek yep, i agree. It’s good but not loud enaugh and sound gets worse if you set the volume over 80%. Perfect for using in an apartment or something but on the “street”... not the best choice I guess.

I just purchased 2 Extreme 2's to replace the Extremes that I've had for several years now. The first thing I noticed was that even though the bass was adequate, it doesn't overpower the mids and highs the way the Extreme does. It's very easy to install the firmware upgrades by downloading the JBL Connect ap to your smartphone. In my opinion, because I like to listen to all types of music, it was definitely worth buying them.

The sound is the center to make an incredible sound is 3D surround sound because it is built to it.

Honestly, the fac tthat it now only has 1 USB port isn't really a downgrade. I only used the powerbank function in a pinch anyways. It's just a nice extra feature to have at hand when you don't have a charger available.

i loved this video so much because other channels weren't as honest as you. I have a both generations of the xtreme and i agree with everything you said. when i bought the JBL xtreme 2 the other day, the first thing i did was compare the 2 and i noticed the JBL xtreme 1 was louder and more punchy outdoors. the JBL xtreme 2 however sounds better indoors because it has more bass indoors and sounds better and when in ac mode the speaker is rated at 40 watts instead of 20 watts which is really stupid, JBL claims that they did that because of battery life but in my opinion id would perfer a louder speaker with less battery then a lower speaker with more battery. but i think that JBL should fix this issue with an update or a setting you can use in the JBL app to boost the volume. i went to one of those xxx reunion and took the xtreme 2 and noticed it really wasn't that loud until i added my flip 4 which really gave it the upper hand over the xtreme. thx for this video though it was amazing and honest.

Bought my Xtreme2 yesterday. Brand new for $120. Its a tank. I already own a Harmon Kardon Onyx 2, which is still my number one choice for hi-fidelity sound in a bluetooth speaker, but not the best choice for portability or outdoor use because of the leg design. I needed something much more rugged and weatherproof because I will be using this for outdoor listening and in a wireless guitar amplifier set up as well. As far as tone differences and volume comparisons, I always use an eq app on my phone and that way I can set any frequency response curve I like and get the perfect sound for myself. And tonal variances exist with each recorded song and genre, so tweaking bass, mids, highs, and even boosting volume ouput, if desired, is all very easy to do. And it does make a big difference for sure. Even though tone considerations are easily altered,....however, build quailty and reliability are not, and JBL makes sturdy, solid products. Everything starts with that. Get a good equalization app and you will enjoy your JBL even more.

Can I ask I’ve had a jbl xtreme since it came out and now the jbl xtreme 2 has dropped I was considering buying one only because I want the connect + feature, my jbl xtreme is in good condition because I’ve had it refurbished, but I really want to connect with the newer speakers my budget is about £300. Anyone got any ideas what jbl soeaker I should get that has the connect + feature with it?

The metal hook on the speaker and strap isn’t the best of quality. The metal on my actual speaker chipped slightly. The fabric came slightly frayed from factory near the battery indicator. The sound is amazing though. Indoors is amazing especially when plugged in at 40 w. For outdoors 20w is just not enough. Smaller speakers like the charge 3 are 20w. However the water proofing is very good. One drawback is when it is in a pool floating, the speakers flip to face the water and the sound cuts off. Overall this speaker has a lot of bass, but it fades away at high volumes. Still an amazing speaker.

Why would i want to charge my phone on from my speaker it would only drain the battery which would give me less listening time for music i got power packs to charge my phone

The speaker sounds much better with all the new software updates. It is now 30 watts instead of 20 watts on battery. It definitely does not sound soft anymore

One Xtreme 2 and one flip 4 with max volume in party mode are enough for outdoor party?!!

So the JBL Xtreme 2 is not that extreme? Damn it, I wanted to pick it up since I'm a traveler and usually listen outdoors with my charge 3 but now Im not sure If I should go for either another Charge3, the Pulse 3 (Love that speaker) or the Xtreme 2. Anybody suggestions?

Rybackz Owning both the Xtreme and the Charge 3, my experience is, the Xtreme (original) is a beast when blasted, but the Charge 3 is nearly as loud, has adequate bass and treble, and most importantly as far as my needs, it is easy to pick up and go with. The Xtreme is really quite heavy and awkward to transport. Hope this helps.

I did a sound test at Walmart with the Xtreme 2 and that shit was loud asf and had a really really good bass tone! It’s a very good speaker and it’s been upgraded so now it’s even louder than it was before

There’s an app that you can use to change the EQ settings so you can actually turn up the bass it really works!!!!😁😆😆😁

I have just bought the jbl xreme 2 today. And yes i was a little bit disappointed because it was lound enough as it should be. However i still love the xreme 2 a lot and the sound quality is pritty good to. The bass has pretty good kick with very good however i think the first jbl xreme has more better bass then the xreme 2. But i can't take the xreme 2 outside because is not lound enough whitch i do find a little bit disappointed. However indoor i find the jbl xreme 2 sound lot more better and a little lounder for indoors use.

JBL extreme 2 it's a balanced sound not puncher or louder but sound is powerful and the bass is deeper.

Good review, my thoughts would be that with the brand new JBL boombox has 2 modes outdoor/indoor. Hence need to make the new extreme more accurate and less loud. Your welcome.

I picked up a new Jbl xtreme 2 at walmart yesterday morning. They sold out of the charge 4s and the flip 4s charge 3s that where on clearance are all gone. They had the charge 3 for 50.99 which is a steal lol. And they did have the flip 3 stealth edition for 13 bucks. I bought all those up they had 10 left so i took em lol. And all the jbl clips and Gos are sold out as well. Only thing that was left was 3 flip 5s a blue black n grey... I bought two camo flip 5s last week and a charge 4 red. And then yesterday i went to our other walmart and they had legitimately just put their last xtreme 2 in the case and it was the only jbl left everything there was gone even the Sonys and Onn walmart brand was all gone.. So i bought it for 299 plus tax lol

This is the best indoor speaker but not really an outdoor you can use it for out doors but you should get 2 for better or get two Xtremes

And the battery is kinda trash, lots of problems with the JBL Xtreme 1, I bought a couple of days one on Amazon cause is was 150€ got it yesterday sound nice and bassy but I put on charge and it still keeps blinking the battery lights after 6 hours and even worse, I had 4 lights and the 5th blinking after had 3 and the 4th blinking, so I sent it back to Amazon and got the new Xtreme 2 for 220€, hope it's better if not will send back also, got till now the charge 3 best speaker for about 2 years, but wanted a bigger and louder sound, I think I did wrong to sell my charge 3

They removed the other USB port because now phones charge 2-4amps and it would discharge just slower because it doesn't meet the supply demand with 2 devices charging with 1amp but with 1 USB port it can supply 2amp so it would meet the demand. And you said like it's a disaster but extreme 1 is just for one summer carry around speaker and if you want more balanced sound quality and if you plan to get new speakers from JBL in the future then you can connect them with the connect+. It isn't bad, compare it next time with the original extreme, and with the boombox in one video ofcourse if you have them, then call it a full review but this isn't a full review , it's your opinion video sorry if I sound like a hater but I'm not I'm just trying to help.

It's really not that much of an improvement... The Xtreme 3 will be change as most companies do when they don't really get something right which was the sound,I understand there isn't and bass distortion or to much bass but it could have been louder especially for the size same battery and less lower sound fun the 1st one... You would think more bass but it seems like less especially outside

I don’t think having 2 USB ports is really necessary personally. I think you really only need to charge the device you’re using with the extreme 2.

Xtreme 1 is 40 watt with 2× 20 watt woofers A N D Xtreme 2 is 50 watt with 2× 25 watt woofers?! Please someone tell me!!!

You can't increase wattage on this size speaker, 40 is plenty just shameful it doesn't use more than 20.

The JBL got a new update you should try it

Here is my 2 cents: If you already have a JBL Extreme, keep it. If you want one, but you don't have one, THEN get the JBL Extreme 2.

hi like your talk on this item, i get this item on saturday the paper work on it is far too smal to read, it dos't tell you what the buttens do & i think you should not have to go to a web site to down load information to line up speakers, i will be reporting this company to UK fair trading standed, i paid £ 149.00. for this & i have seen people on youtub make their own units, i think this is the best way to go now by that you get what you want . have a nice day colin.
