JBL SRX 815P Review: First Impressions - GREAT SOUND but NOT FOR NEWBIES.

Музыка

Real world first impressions review of the JBL SRX 815P. This is a pro level powered speaker with many complex features. Great speaker if you are a tech head or have a lot of pro audio experience. Sound is amazing, great power and clarity. Heavy and bulky compared to mid grade powered tops, but sound is unmatched.

I appreciate your review and the effort you took for the video - Thank you. But i wouldn’t underestimate the intelligence of the users to set up the DSP, or even leave the default settings. These are fabulous speakers for any application! As you mentioned, It is one or two classes above the rest of the speakers you referenced. Also as you mentioned, these speakers are just one step below line arrays. Cheers Brother..

No they are not complicated, all you do is plug in and go, you can go in and play with the settings but factory settings are just fine. Im using EV ETX 15p, same level

You can just plug in and go, but you are not utilizing the speakers full potential. The factory EQ settings are flat, but once you set it up with the DJ "smiley face" curve, it pounds much harder (sounds like you are using a subwoofer). You don't get that out the box and must connect and configure the speakers via the software... You're welcome.

You probably don’t know how to set your limiter and get all the juice from it. Neither to EQ it.

@@djhd3000 at first if you just take the passive ones you just have to plug and play without a single knob. Just a Speaker in and a Speaker Through. Second point: actually it is for newbie cause you have to configure by software(?!?). A professional set of speaker just get Controlled by an amp with an integrated Limiter, a crossfade and a good mixing console. Third: Why the hell you go into your monitor with about 800 W with an unbalanced 1/4 jack input and not as usual with an xlr...

I agreed with your opinion. I took my jbl prx 815 to a party and a friend of mine wanted to connect his mic. He wanted to ajust the EQ inside according to the sound of his mic but unfortunately there wasnt any wifi at the funtion room. That is the downfall of this series. Now im looking for brand that they dont use wifi for EQ. Do you have any other suggestion brand?

In my opinion they are superior because you can eq them to similar frequencies to the Yorkvilles. They are still portable and can be used every gig. After I set the eq, they bang like there is a subwoofer in the room. Amazing speakers.

The first couple of times I heard them I just wasn’t impressed. The Guitar Center audition with the iPhone doesn’t work for these or most speakers. A lot of people like colored sound out the box these are not. They’re monitor flat Then I tried them with a different preamp in a different room, much better. Added the jBl 828P sub with the proper DSP settings and played outdoors for 8 hours, I got impressed. Audio architect takes it up to another level. For mobile Djs with just four speakers it’s time consuming. You’d have more control but the extra Ethernet wires becomes a chore. Tried it with a DBX 360 more control but not overall better sound than using Audio architect or the SRX app. They’re heavy, hard to put on a stand by yourself because the speaker is wide and the handles are horizontal and not parallel. I’d recommend them for install or events where sound is critical and the ability to correct the sound is extremely important. For the average user the SRX series is overkill.

Exactly that is realy offenssive !@@djhd3000 A DJ that can afford these , means that he is taking is craft seriously and will be willing to put the effort to learn how to manage them. I wanna get these because beside private parties , I want to be able to organize my own shows and small concert. I have been researching on it for over a month right now and I saved a lot of videos to better understand how they work. If we learned how to manage a DJ controllers/softwares , it is not a speaker setting that will scared us. All knowledge is a gain , as long as you are willing to learn how thing work you should be fine. FUCK THAT COMMENT @justaname1862
