    Ceremony/ side fill speaker is exactly why I bought this. I have the JBL Eon One,I'll be able to go from ceremony to venue in minutes. Good sound compared to Bose S1,but remember you have more bass with the JBL Compact and the sound can get muddy with some genres (turn down the bass). JBL has more input and a easy to change battery. 💕 it!

    This speaker is designed as more of a PA system rather than a DJ system. I could see it being used in a business meeting or with a singer guitarist. And we are talking small events. It just won't have the output needed for a DJ. Now the 112db is the theoretical max output. They are looking at the amp power and the efficiency of the speaker to come up with the number. None of the PA systems hit their peak spl output. If they did, the distortion would be too much. For any PA speaker you can deduct 6 db right off the top from the output rating. So this speaker should have maxed out at 106db. 99db puts it at the level of a home speaker.

    I've recently purchased a pair of Maui 5 GOs and they're awesome considering their compact size and weight, not to mention the fact that that you can ditch the cumbersome speaker stands! The Mauis sound great even though they lack a bit of high end sparkle. The 8 inch sub is surprisingly punchy for something so compact! It would be great if the next version of the Maui 5 GO had at least one more mic input, basic adjustable 3 band eq and reverb/delay. A slightly larger 10 inch sub and 6 mid/high drivers would also be great but then it will cost more money.

    Those srx tops only have a 95db sensitivity (efficiency) @800w rms if you got something like a 99 or 101 db sensitivities top at a similar wattage that would absolutely destroy the srx if you decide you need something louder after business pick back up in theory you can get 124 db out of those tops but if you put a 100hz low cut you could probably get 121 - 119 db out of them at spl so probably slightly less on a weighted measurement such as dba or dbc.

    Great video. Thanks for making it. I bought a Bose S1 for multiple uses, most immediately to power a Bluetooth turntable. The AUX volume, however, is not linear, and the lowest volume only kicks in when the knob is at the first mark, where it suddenly jumps from zero db to a level that is too loud for an some settings (notably at night in an apartment building). All three new units at the local Guitar Center perform the same way, although not the demo model (which has a smooth, linear, volume control from silent to max volume). Several phone calls to Bose tech support has yielded opposing comments: 1) “That’s normal functioning.” 2) “That’s not the normal functioning.” I am tempted to return the S1 Pro and buy the JBL Eon One based on your review, even though Bose products are usually really well made and nicely designed and sound great. Any advice?

    Is the eon compact distorts significantly when it s on maximum volume? And i m also surprised that jbl claim that eon has a frequency response down to 37.5 hz it s very deep for a very small pa speaker like this. Does it really produce quite deep bass for edm , reggae , drums for example ?

  • @DJRickWeb

    All speakers distort at maximum volume. Don't run speakers at maximum unless you want to blow them. On the bass side no they don't get low no 15inch top does. Check the freq response graph. It produces 37.5 hz yes but its super low on decibels in comparison to say 80 or 100

    Can really use pretty much anything you have kicking around. You don't have to worry about sound quality as it's really only to make sure your beats are well lined up, and so you can hear if anything is clashing in your mix. It's not for your audience, so whatever works for you.

    As a sound man, a musician, a music producer, and a recording artist, let me weight in on this. Everyone keeps expecting more of these small powered speakers than what they'll actually do. You're comparing the Maui which is tower array to the JBL Eon One Compact which is a more traditional speaker. They're two different classifications of speakers.

    Hi thnks for this video. I got the message that for you JBL's EON One is slightly better than Bose S1 Pro and yes, here in my country (Peru) JBL costs $550 and Bose $800, so it is also cheaper, but what do you have to say about the parametric EQ using JBL's app? Bose is already pre-equalized and not only sounds good for me but also is absolutely easy to use, plug n' play, while on the other hand, JBL's freq response is flat so...do you think that by eq-ing the JBL it can actually sound better than S1 Pro? in terms of definition and fidelity. Thank you again!

  • @DJRickWeb

    @DJRickWeb

    3 жыл бұрын

    Eq is all relative. You can make any speaker sound exactly the way you want. It comes down to what you have to work with. The JBL having a bigger woofer gives you more bass response to tune with. Keep in mind you can do all the eq on the speaker you don't have to do it in the app. I never use the app to be honest
